Hey guys,

	quick summary of my situation:

I installed a 50mm (2”) lift kit on my Pathfinder, and now I’m running into issues with the CV axles. I’m currently in Australia on a gap year and planning a ~17,000 km trip, partly through very remote areas, so reliability is a big concern.

Right now I see two options:

	1. Keep the 2” lift and replace the CV axles, maybe add manual hubs to reduce stress.
2. Switch back to ~1” front struts/springs to ease the CV angles. (still have the struts/springs)

Main question: is it too risky to keep the 50mm lift for a trip like this?

Anyone been in a similar spot? What worked better for you long-term?

	Cheers!
I bought my Pathfinder a few years ago with the rear seats removed and a floor put in. The previous owner proved me with the seats and all the bolds/screws/ carpet but I don't know what it all looks like put back together. It's a bit of a stretch but can anyone send me a photo of that it all looks like under the carpet in the rear and under the seats to show what it looks like when it is back together. I have looked at the parts diagram but a but hard to tell from what I have.

Twelve years of owning an R50, and almost 28 years owning and working on Nissan trucks (and cars, briefly)...and I'm just now getting around to putting together something like this. Still seems like people are trying to keep these trucks on the road, so hopefully this helps.

This is a current matrix of maintenance and service parts for the R200A and H233B axles/differentials found in R50 Pathfinders and JR50 QX4. It covers all basic parts like seals and bearings, providing the current Nissan part number, superseded part numbers, quantity used, and a few suitable aftermarket part numbers. It also indicates which parts are No Longer Available ("NLA") from Nissan; they might still be available from international brokers and suppliers like Amayama.com and Partsouq.com.

This list (particularly the aftermarket part numbers) is not comprehensive, but should be a good starting point; nearly all of the parts listed have a confirmed cross-reference to the OE part, some I've personally used. RockAuto's part number search DOES search across interchange numbers listed on parts; enter the OE part number without hyphens (i.e., "3818921G17"). There are definitely other parts that will work, especially more-affordable options; compare the specs of a listed part to other parts.

It does not include any differential parts, LSD parts, or parts that would be needed to set up gears like shims and spacers...the majority of those parts are completely unavailable. The best option if wanting to change gears is to source a complete 3rd member or entire front differential from a donor vehicle, and service it using the parts from this matrix. Due to the nature of the high-pinion R200A we have, there are NO aftermarket gears available for it.

Again, this is SPECIFICALLY for R50 trucks only. Other R200A front differentials (like those from W/D21, W/D22) do use some of these parts, but not all. The H233B data is for 33-spline only. Again, some parts do interchange, but some do not (mainly the inner seals and outer bearings which are sized smaller for 31-spline shafts).

Keep in mind replacing many of these parts requires access to specialty tools, like pullers and a floor press, to disassemble and/or assemble components. Most of these parts cannot be bashed off, and some rental tools at your local auto parts store may be insufficient. A clamshell-style bearing puller like this works great for pulling pinion and carrier bearings.

The matrix likely applies to foreign Terrano and Regulus models, too, but do your homework because you know Nissan did some really dumb things with these trucks.

Axle shafts must be COMPLETELY disassembled (ABS tone ring, bearings, bearing cup, etc.) in order to replace the outer axle seals. This process requires a suitable tool and/or press. These seals are mainly grease-catchers for the bearings. However, if the inner seal is leaking gear oil, it likely has compromised the bearing grease. Axle shaft tear-down is recommended to regrease the wheel bearings and replace the seals.

Replace the RH outer shaft seal, outer bearing, and bearing collar together. The bearing shaft collar MUST be destroyed-off with a cold chisel BEFORE the bearing can be removed, and before the seal can be replaced. Attempting to pull the side shaft with the collar installed WILL destroy the flange plate (38232-01W00) and bolts. Ask me how I know. The "RW114R" kits all include a bearing and new bearing collar; the seal is sold separately. A slide hammer is needed to pull the shaft from the bearing, and a press is required to install the bearing and bearing collar on the shaft.

The axle shafts must be completely removed from the axle in order to replace the inner shaft seals and outer o-rings located at the ends of the axle tubes. This requires disconnecting the parking brake and hydraulic brake lines from the drums. The axle shafts will rest on seals, and potentially damage them, when the axles shafts are only partially pulled from the differential. FSM says to remove the ABS sensors from the axle tube to avoid damaging them when pulling the axle shafts.

I replaced the front brakes, rotors, bearings and calipers this past week. Here’s my question. When I tightened the the spindle nuts I torqued them at 70lbs and backed them off a little to put the lock nut on with the two small screws. After torquing I spun the wheel back and forth and it spun easy. When I drove it a short trip total five miles and got back to the house I noticed my front wheels were hot as hell to touch. In the FSM it says after torquing to 70 ft lbs to turn hub in both directions and then loosing spindle nut to 0 ft lbs then torque to 13 ft lbs turn wheel hub several times then torque to 13ft lbs. then check axle end play. I wasn’t able to check axle end play and didn’t loosen hub nut after I torqued it to 70 ft lbs. would this be causing my rotors and wheels to get extremely hot being it’s torqued to around 70 ft lbs? I pretty much skipped the second step. Any help would be appreciated.

	Hello all,

I've gathered some decent experience in terms of mechanics after working on my car a bit but I still am quite uneducated in how the suspension is set up. I'm trying to draw up a plan for all the parts necessary for my lift and wanted some feedback so I don't miss anything! I've went through the forums a bit to try and see what others are running but again, not too sure what I'm getting myself into here. All I know is that if I'm going to mess with my suspension, I want to do it right and replace coils/struts/shocks rather than just try to get by with a spacer lift. Spacers after the OME coils settle would be fine though. Hopefully this doesn't set me back a fortune.

My understanding is that the "standard" or a popular suspension set up is as follows:
Front: Old Man Emu (OME) HD coil springs alongside KYB struts

Rear: Land Rover MD (9447) or HD (9449) alongside 2” Bilstein shocks

What else am I missing here in terms of equipment or modifications to my Pathfinder? Would I have to extend my brake lines, etc.

As for how to obtain the equipment, I'm also a bit lost. I know SFCreations is no longer producing new lift equipment so that's out of the question, but I know 4x4parts.com is another common source for suspension parts.

I see front coils are available for purchase here: https://www.4x4parts.com/i-18981165-pathfinder-front-lift-coils.html ($180 for a pair, presumably AC brand?) and here: https://www.amazon.com/ARB-2928-Old-Coil-Spring/dp/B004P9JSMI/ ($249, doesn't specify quantity but the image has a pair).

Not sure where is best for purchasing KYB equipment. Found these two on Amazon, KYB 335015 (left shock?): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C44C44/ ($60) and KYB 335016 (right shock?) : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CODES4/ ($75)

For rear Land Rover 9447 or 9449 coil springs, I know LRdirect.com has them available (9449: https://www.lrdirect.com/nrc9449-coil-spring-90-rear-lh ($140 per coil) and 9447: https://www.lrdirect.com/nrc9447-coil-spring-90-fr-lh ($150 per coil), but I'm not sure if that is the best website available for US buyers. That LRdirect.com link for both the 9449 and 9447 mentions that the spring is for the "passenger side", I assume that only matters for front suspension applications on an actual Land Rover, and can be ignored for rear applications on a Pathfinder.

For the 2" Bilstein shocks, I found something on amazon. They sell the 33-185569 5125 model in single-packs: https://www.amazon.com/Bilstein-33185569-5100-Shock-Absorber/dp/B009FU6I6G ($109 per shock), no idea if these are the right ones haha.

If you believe there is a better website or even a better part to use instead, please let me know! I am open to any and all feedback/suggestions. I know there's a lot to digest in this post, so hopefully one of you is willing to sit down and nerd out for me here. Thank you!

There are numerous threads on this forum regarding how to tell which model you have. I've read most of them and am STILL CONFUSED! You'd think it would be pretty simple, right? Wrong! OK, I've run the VIN through several VIN decoders--no luck. I've studied the door panels--no luck. There are no external badges. It has chrome wheels, a top rack and is a manual tranny w/4WD. Guessing it's either an XE or an SE so now it's YOUR TURN!

THANK YOU for chewing on the same old topic yet once again!
Did anybody here know that you can still get OEM parts for R50 pathfinders? Maybe others, I didnt search. For example, you can buy a new Long Block VG 3.3L for $4052.00 or a Short Block for 2800.00? I ordered most of the rubber moldings for my daughter's 98 Pathfinder. Prices are WAY cheaper than the local dealers even with the employee discount. There are at least a couple of places that I found. I used this one. https://www.amayama.com/en You can even get a new OEM Sun roof with gasket/seal for a r50 if you needed one. I spent over 1K on parts that should be here 9-11 May. I'll let ya know.

Can anyone tell me if the 4wd wheel hub will work on a 2wd. Had a mechanic install front wheel bearing and he did not do it correctly (I know I should have done it myself) now the hub is wallered out and needs to be replaced but can't find any replacements for 2wd any where. If anybody knows where to get the 2wd hub replacement that would be fantastic tia.

Hi folks, I am new here, so please, let me know if this is not the right way to post my questions and issues.

My 1997 Nissan Pathfinder R50 is currently running with less power than it should. I am driving this car about 6 years now so, I am very used to it. Recently changed spark plugs, timing belts and some other stuff that shouldn't compromise performance. I´ve done a lot of inspections and so far I didn't find anything. I am now asking for a professional mechanic to look into it and to provide me with a diagnostic. As this is a tenure Nissan, he doesn't have the required Nissan Pathfinder R50 VG33E Oscilloscope Waves / Channel chart to allow him to compare against what he is getting using oscilloscope in my car. I am from Brazil and, so far, I am not having good times searching for this reference and specs down here. Any help would be very important. Does anybody could help me or guiding me thru some other source? Thanks a lot.

Hello everyone, I'm extremely interested in mounting a light bar on my 2000 QX4 however I can't seem to find brackets for the light bar that I'm interested which is a 40' curved light bar, anyone have any guidance on how to do it without drilling holes into the roof itself, trying to prevent water leaks as much as I can and does anyone have any recommendations for "ditch lights" instalments?

	Hi all,

my pathfinder has a little black dongle separate to the key that I have to hold next to the ignition for it to unlock the car and let me start the car. Usually you can hear a clicking noise when the immobiliser has been unlocked and all the lights on the dash turn on. Yesterday I went to start my car, but the lights on the dash wouldn’t turn on and couldn’t hear the clicking noise, battery has power but the security light next to the steering wheel is off. Any ideas of what is going on/how to fix it?

	Thanks in advance

Hey everyone I just bought a 97 pathy to build off-road/Camping project and I been looking for the part number of the GR2 shocks and the bilstein rear struts I'm planing a 2" lift but buying for 4x4 it's crazy expensive ups charges almost $1200us just for the delivery so if someone has any info about the part numbers and maybe I can find them in a local auto-parts store.

This place has been a very helpful source of info so I hope some good Samaritan will give me a hand.
