  1. Alright, good advice. Guess that's why they put 3 lanes ha. I also noticed that they did put a tranny cooler in like I asked, big one too. They must have given up on cleaning up the factory cooler.
  2. agreed, I need a project tomorrow to keep me busy
  3. OK thanks slick. I "had" a tranny cooler, but when it was re-built they would only do it "as original" to get the warranty (which is dumb since having the cooler is better anyway). I didn't want them putting it through the radiator with all the gunk built up, but did clean up the radiator up very well. I haven't gotten around to installing a new one yet because it's winter, and I'm moving. Doesn't take long though, so I could put one on tomorrow I suppose. Yeah, I'll keep it out of overdrive, and I do have the flat style connector for the lights and a class 3 hitch. I may take country roads rather than the interstate, so I can go 60 and not slow everyone up, rather than the 80 most people are doing on the interstate.
  4. Hi all, I'm moving this weekend and would like to get this U-Haul trailer (impossible to find in my area at the moment). I have to travel a pretty good distance with it, interstate and such and wondering if it's a good idea to be pulling this, especially full. On a good note I just had my tranny re-built, but on the other I don't want to burn up my new tranny either (auto obviously). They say max load is 2600 for the trailer, but seems like it could pretty easily be over that when filled. I have some pretty heavy stuff to move. Trailer I plan to get here:
  5. I believe they dropped the pan to see if any parts and such were laying in there.
  6. So all of a sudden my tranny has been shifting erratically, mainly shifting up through the gears way to fast, so I'm in overdrive before I hit 30mph. The guy at the shop told me he thinks it's an electrical problem because he thinks it only happens when you turn one way vs. the other. I'm not so sure of that since it seemed to happen to me regardless if I was turning or not. I agree though that the up shifting may be caused by electrical issues. He also noticed the gear doesn't engage as strong or fast as it should, and also said the pressure was low and the pump is starting to whine. So I'm debating whether to try and find the electrical issue, or if I just go for the full monty and rebuild or replace the tranny and get it over with since it sounds inevitable anyway. What do you guys think?
  7. Alright, thanks. I did see phoenix on ebay too. Just wondered if they were any good or not. Sounds like they are. The only thing I like about local shops is that I get a warranty, possibly a lifetime, so I never need to worry about it again. The bad news is I'd be looking at probably over $2500 on a truck I paid $1000 for. So really a phoenix unit runs a little over 1100 bucks all said and done. Guess that ain't too bad. I haven't searched yet, but is there a summary on key points for a tranny change. I'm not so worried about doing it, but more how much time it would take me.
  8. well, unfortunately this last weekend my auto tranny bit the dust on my 91. It's still shifting, but very erratically. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to who I might be able to order a rebuilt tranny from. I just don't feel comfortable buying a junk yard unit. My other option is a local shop, but I'd only do that if I get some kind of warranty. Normally I might attempt to change it myself, but I'm in the middle of moving and need the damn thing to pull the trailer and load up crap to the new place.
  9. Positive. If I could get a better pic I would. It's like a stainless steel cap with a little rubber cap on the end where you might put a grease zerk or something. I tried to get the cap off to see if there was a bolt underneath, but it aint coming off without destroying it. Both sides are exactly the same. Apparently if it came this way stock it's fairly uncommon
  10. Not sure, it doesn't want to move along the axis of the pin which is probably the problem. I tried a hammer and it didn't budge. It's starting to rain, so I may have to revisit this problem another day.
  11. No, there is like a stainless cap on the end. All the manuals I have say "take the two bolts out" that's why I don't know how this pin works. It's the rear caliper on a 91 if that makes any difference.
  12. I'm trying to figure out why my brakes have been squealing lately and trying to get the rear caliper off, but can't figure out how to detach the top of the caliper. There is no bolt, just the pin as shown in the pic. BTW, I think this is the problem since I can barely move the caliper and it doesn't slide in and out like I'm guessing it's suppose to. How do I get this off to remove the caliper?
  13. I've found this place so useful as well it's amazing. I started lurking on here when I started looking for a Pathfinder. Ever since been addicted!
  14. I was going to get one from summit, you can buy theirs or they stock others as well. Like: http://tinyurl.com/kgyv6
