Check your fuses. I had the same kind of thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't smell gas though. My problem was a blown fuel pump fuse. I changed it, and it immediately blew again. I put in another one the next day and have been fine ever since. Hopefully it's something simple like that. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I went out and bought a new batch of fuses and put one in. Things suddenly work just fine, no more blown fuses. I'd like to think that I have a self-healing vehicle, but I'm not that naiive. We had trouble with my wife's vehicle this weekend too, and I spent my time getting that back on the road, so didn't have time to look closely at my wiring. If I can get through to next weekend, I'll spend some time figuring it out. I'm happy for now though!

Help! I went out this morning and started the Pathy up. She ran for about 5 seconds and flat out died. I poked around a bit and found that the fuel pump fuse was blown. I put another fuse in, it fired right up, then died again. Sure enough, another blown fuse. I guess it's possible that the fuel pump is bad, but it was just replaced in January. I had my son turn the key on while I held my finger on the pump relay and could feel it click inside, so it doesn't seem like that's the problem. Any ideas?

This is probably best for the "How To" forum, but it wouldn't let me post there. Anyway, I read the thread the other day regarding the fill hole on the manual tranny being too low, thereby preventing the case from filling as far as it needs to be in order to lubricate everything. I just bought my 95 a couple of weeks ago and all seems well so far. No whine, shifts smoothly, etc.. Since I just bought it though, I want to make sure all the fluids are fresh, and especially make sure I don't have a problem develop with the transmission, at least that I can prevent. I poked around the "how to" threads, but didn't find anything that specifically told how to change the fluid in the tranny. I imagine it's not rocket science, but I want to make sure I do a thorough job. Also, what are your recommendations for replacement gear oil? Any brand over another, synthetic vs. dino oil? I've read a lot of varying opinions on synthetics and dino oil, but was left with my head spinning. Thanks!

I had this same thing happen this weekend. I fiddled around with it, then finally turned the wheel a bit, and suddenly the key turned freely. I know it's already been said, but it worked for me!

I'm hoping to make some minor mods to it to "make it mine". It is my daily driver, so I don't want to get crazy with the equipment, but I'd like to have a good balance between economy and off-road capability. I'm glad I found the forum. I've picked up a lot already from you all. Finally got around to taking a picture. As you can see, I need the 4WD just to get up my driveway right now!

Thanks for the tip Cuong. I pulled the housing out and looked it over. It was pretty wet inside and the socket looked pretty rusty. I think it's probably corroded to the point that no electicity is getting through. I'll have to dig in to it further when the weather gets warmer. At least my rear one is still working. It flashes like a strobe light, but it works.

Hi everyone. I just bought my 95 Pathfinder with 108,000 miles on Thursday. I love this truck! Being 13 years old though, it does have a few quirks that I'm finding. I'm sure I'll be back here a lot looking for advice, but to start... I noticed shortly after I took it home that the rear drivers side turn signal was flashing very fast. I figured that the front bulb was probably blown, so I pulled the bulb and found it indeed was burned out. I ran to the local auto place, bought the replacement, and installed it. There, all fixed. Nope! The front one still doesn't flash. Any ideas of what it may be? Thanks!
