  1. I made the mistake of putting GL5 gear oil in and noticed that it shifted poorly for months after that. My 2002 specifically calls for GL4 which is tricky to find.(I sourced some redline GL4). After I put the correct oil in, it shifted great again. I don't believe our syncros like GL5.
  2. There is no 4lo indicator light for the manual shift transfer case
  3. It seems to run fine with the lost air flow. I have watched the temperature closely with a scanguage. I have put on 100 000 kilometers since the install and have had no problems. No. It is all guess, measure twice, cut, test fit, weld, &*$#@!, cut repeat
  4. yes the center receiver hitch piece slides into and is bolted to the side plates. I was originally going to make it a removable receiver winch winch but decided against it. It is completely bolt on except for the bars running across the lower rad support, they are welded to each side plate. The slot with the curved piece is to accommodate a pinch seam behind the bumper. I did not want to cut or weld anything on the pathfinder aside from the bumper. In hindsight, I could have just cut it off. The factory towhooks were cut and welded to the plate to utilize bottom bolt holes
  5. I think that if you have the upper butterfly valves(power valves) that you said you locktited, then you in fact have the auto engine. I cannot explain the missing swirl control valves(lower butterflies). Manual tranny engines have a pilot bushing for the input shaft of the transmission. I am not sure what the auto tranny engines have or if they easily swap.
  6. Fleurys is correct. Another difference would be where the flywheel bolts on to the engine. Manual tranny has a pilot bushing while an auto has a pilot converter. I just realized you said you locktited the powervalves. It must be and auto engine then. The lower butterflies are swirl control valves. Further than that, I have no idea. Good luck
  7. daytime running light circuit board. grey/beige box behind battery on fender. replace or bypass, some have had luck re-soldering connections on circuit board inside box
  8. it was $100 worth of steel and $125 for the cutting. most of the cost was converting my templates into a cad file the computer uses. if i would have known i would have drawn them up in autocad or something. It was well worth it though, my frame was so weak that the box was touching the cab, now it is probably stronger than factory.
  9. I made templates from cardboard and had them cut on a cnc table out of 1/8" plate.
  10. This is what I did to my hardbody. the frame was so weak that the top of the box was hitting the back of the cab. I put jackstands a foot forward of the back of the cab to relieve some stress and welded fitted plate on both sides and then formed a strip along the bottom of the frame. Nice and strong now!
  11. i held on and closed my eyes. lol Like you said, it doesnt feel like loss of "power" brakes it feels like loss of brakes period. its only happened a couple times but if i remember correctly both times i went from spinning out at medium-high revs and directly off gas to clutch and brake
  12. I am thinking of replacing my vq35 engine in my manual transmission 2002 pathy. Since 5sp engines seem hard to find I was thinking maybe an auto engine might be made to work. Other than the lack of power valves in the manual engine is there any other differences? Could the intake be easily swapped over? Would any vq35 from 2001-2004 bolt up and work? any info would be appreciated
  13. I have had my 5 speed out before and the only hose I saw was a vent hose. I did have a gear oil smell in the cab once that turned out to be a torn shifter boot
