  1. Deerhurst- Thanks for the reply. I measured my fill/drain plugs on the rear axle and got 14mm (a tad smaller tham 9/16"). Thanks again! Anyone else help me with my transfer case question?
  2. Hello All! I have an early 4wd Terrano (WD21) with a Z24 engine. I apologize as the only 4wd vehicle i`ve owned (and still do) is an old misubishi-willys, japanese version of the cj3b, so i`m not thoroughly "modern" and still know little about 4wd`s in general. So on to my questions: 1) Is there anyway to know if my front diff is the R180A or the R200A? And if my rear diff is the H190A, the C200, or the H223B? 2) I wanted to replace the transfer case and differential oil. The rear diff is easily visible and so easy to change. But i cant see the front diff. I assume its hidden by some kind of gravel plate? If so, is the plate easy to remove? 3) As far as the transfer case, i believe i located what would be either the drain or fill plug (cant remember if it was directly below the transfer case or higher up behind). In any case, i only located one plug. For good measure, could anyone pls tell me anyway where both transfer case plugs are located? Pictures would be even better . 4) Anyone know the exact size of the square shaped allen tool used for removing the fill/drain plugs (is the hole in fact just a plain square hole)? I asked as they are impossible to get over here in my part of the world and so resorted to a machine shop to make one for me (importing one would take some time, not to mention the exorbitant taxes i would have to pay over here), cheap labor over here . Thank You very much! P.S. Pls dont get confused by the year of my terrano, these are really just the first generation terranos, hence my posting on this forum patrick
  3. Hi All! I hope its ok that i put in the same topic from another sub forum on this one, as there was no response yet. Firstly, my concern is for a carburated Z24 engined Terrano. I`m kinda puzzled with my oil dipstick reading. I just did an oil and oil filter change (admittedly i used an oil filter for a Z20 engine, so its about an inch smaller in diameter). I understand that the oil capacity for the Z24 is 4.3 Liters (with oil filter change). So i poured 4 liters in and waited about an hour before i checked the oil dipstick level. Upon checking, the oil level looked to be only about halfway or slightly more than halfway between the min and maximum mark. Is this normal at all? I expected it to be at least 3/4 way up to the max level mark. There were no noticeable oil leaks. Using a slightly smaller filter should in fact cause the dipstick to read a bit higher sooner, right? Maybe the previous owner pit in the wrong dipstick? Anyone have any ideas? I of course dont want to overfill or underfill. Is there maybe a "special" way to change oil on this engine??? Could anyone pls take measurements of their dipstick so i can compare it to mine? I would appreciate the following measurements: 1) Tip of the dipstick till the minimum indicator 2) Tip of the dipstick till the maximum indicator 3) Tip of the dipstick till the other end of the dipstick (but just the part that actually goes in the engine, that you cant see of course). Your accuracy and soonest response would be appreciated . Thank You! patrick
  4. Oh, in connection with my concern about my possibly wrong Z24 dipstick(???), could anyone pls take measurements of their dipstick so i can compare it to mine? I would appreciate the following measurements: 1) Tip of the dipstick till the minimum indicator 2) Tip of the dipstick till the maximum indicator 3) Tip of the dipstick till the other end of the dipstick (but just the part that actually goes in the engine, that you cant see of course). 6. Kingman- So my filter is actually smaller than the correct one for the z24`s, due to maybe less filter material surface area?? I guess in this case it would not be ultra critical to the engine`s health. Alkorahil- Thanks for the part numbers.Actually i could have gotten the correct filter but got this out of convenience. Come next oil change though i will get the correct one. Thanks again guys! patrick
  7. Hello All! I have a 1999 Terrano D21 with a carburated Z24 engine (original on my side of the planet - philippines). I plan on changing oil like in a couple of days. So here`s my concern: I bought an oem nissan filter with part # 15208-H8990. I checked the info on the box and did not see any Z24 engine listed. I did see other applications, such as for a Z20 engine (a sub 2L engine) for a model C120, a Z18, A14 , a VG30S engine (3L) for a model C32, and a few other nissan engines. I decided to buy it after i was assured that it would work for my Z24. I`m not really sure what they meant by "it would work", i`m guessing its just about the physical dimensions being identical. So i`m more concerned now about relief valve opening pressure, cant seem to find this spec on the net. Most if not all the dealers over here are either secretive or lazy or just dont have the info handy to give out simple info like this, i dont know... Not that i intend to wait till my oil gets really dirty before changing, just that i needed to know for peace of mind. So would anyone know the relief valve opening pressure for this filter versus the filter officially designated by nissan? I`m guessing that as long as the valve relief pressure of this filter is in the vicinity of the correct oem filter, that i would be good to go?? Any other factors i should consider by using this filter in lieu of the designated nissan filter?? Btw, i dont do any offroading, though the streets can be pretty dusty over here. Thank You! patrick
