  1. This is mainly a question for the Australian members - my 2005 VG 33 R50 pathy needs a new fuel pump. There are none available in Fiji. Have been online but its hard to discern whats good and whats not on Ebay. Can any of you give me any info on where to buy a quality fuel pump in Australia ? Im asking the Aussies because we are close geographically. Cheers.
  2. to cap this post, turned out my coolant was pretty shot and although you couldn't tell, the radiator was quite blocked ! ordering a new rad and will change coolant and thermostat and should be all good !
  3. i agree slartibartfast, its not overheating so i don't think the thermostat is to blame, won't hurt to change it though. At this stage I'm going to flush and clean the system and radiator, change the thermostat, refill and run and see what happens. i was going to go through the entire truck soon, new suspension with 2 inch lift, new interior carpets etc, etc . I might as well start with the engine bay and get it all running sweetly there before i tackle the rest of it.
  4. I had a similar problem with my R50 - dash light telling me a door was not closed stayed on, and my interior light stayed on. It turned out to be the passenger side front door rubber switch that was faulty. I had removed them one by one until i found the faulty one. Its still off the truck and i haven't replaced it and all works fine. This however shouldn't drain a good battery in a day but check all five of those switches (including rear hatch) first.
  5. @ colinnwn - rad is full when cool
  6. just had a look, water in Rad isn't great looking, seems discoloured and not in a nice "coolant" way. Will also check radiator cap. Judging by the replies, i assume the boiling over flow tank is not normal. This is my favourite vehicle by far and it drives a 500km round trip along the coast and mountains on some twisty demanding roads three times a week, so for a Christmas present i think i'll just change out rad cap/ thermostat / radiator. Just did all wheel bearings and an oil change yesterday.
  7. Hi all, 2005 R50 - pretty stock apart from 16x8 rims. Getting out of the car last couple of weeks i can hear a boiling noise under the hood, its the overflow tank and i can see it boiling quite violently. The temp gauge always reads normal, the car is hot under the hood but then again, its a hot climate here. Is this normal ? haven't changed the coolant for years probably. i will remove the thermostat and run the engine without it, we've done 265,000km so maybe its time to change thermostat and radiator. Not so easy to swap out parts over here in Fiji as they are not available off the shelf - i have to import them. Any thoughts would be appreciated !

  9. Great product Liftmaker ! I am putting together a complete list of parts that i need for my pathfinder out here in Fiji - shocks, struts, springs etc, and these spacers look to be a great solution for me for a 2 inch lift. One question : can i use them if i intend to install air lift 1000 bags in the rear coils ? - i think i can but thought i would check.
  10. Did you mask the whole car up to plasti-dip it ? or did you strip out all the lights etc to do it ? It looks great by the way. Is that black or dark grey ?
  11. Thanks Guys, Its an auto - very strange behaviour, given its mileage (and none of it on smooth roads) something must be worn out. Its not the weather, car is in Fiji !! Having the trans fluid looked at over the weekend, maybe that will show something.
  12. Hi all, My 2003 R50 with 330,000 kms on the clock will not engage reverse when cold. Sometimes i have time to go and make a coffee waiting for it to engage ! time varies between 3 mins and 11 mins to engage. Not ideal as i sometimes forget when i park it nose in on my driveway and have to wait an eternity to back it out. If i park it forward facing and can head out straight away, then it will hold second gear for quite a while and then change up eventually. As long as the car is used all day and warm, then the transmission behaves normally. Any ideas on what could be causing this ! would a trans flush help ?
  13. DESCRIPTION OF SUNROOF REPAIR: Removed drivers side door rubber trim to reveal headlining edge. Removed sunvisor, removed sunvisor clip. Pulled down headlining edge along door side (not too much otherwise it will stress and crease) Sunroof drain spigot revealed with drain pipe disconnected and nowhere in sight. Drain pipe had fallen back into metal bulk head recess hole opposite, took some finger wiggling to get it back out. Reconnected the drain pipe to the sunroof drain spigot and used a cable tie so it wouldn't fall off again. Ditto the other side except you have to remove the passenger ceiling handle which can be interesting. pics of repair are self explanatory : https://www.flickr.com/photos/100136683@N03/sets/72157645603658055/
  14. Fixed it ! both drain hoses had come off the spigots attached to the sunroof. Had to drop corners of headlining both sides but didnt have to remove it totally. Will try and post pics of repair soon.
