  1. Emergency, Red code. I have a 1997 nissan Pathfinder. I drove the vehicle for about 124 miles as soon as I reach my destination I was unable to reverse. Step on the gas pedal while on reverse the car don't respond. On drive, I've noticed the vehicle respond poorly then pick up speed gradually. Can someone explain to me what's going on and what are the steps or signs I need to look for. Also should I take the chance to drive back 124 miles to home.
  2. I had some very good feed back, and I thank you all. Yesterday, I had pull out the canister from the left rear of the truck and it was full of pellets charcoal. I did inspect the evap line and I've located one place where the hard metal is connected with the rubber hose, which is in the rear center of the car. I'm just trying to find out how am I going to blow out the remaining charcoal that's inside the tube since I don't have an air compressor. Any cheap one in the market I saw that the canister had a little split where the vent control valve is screw on it. Over the weekend I will place on a new canister and then vent control, I just don't know how much it will run me. At this moment, a full tank of gas don't even last me a week.
  3. EVAP. SYSTEM The check engine light of my pathy is still showing although smoke test has been performing and I'm getting annoying by it. I usually take out the possitive and negative poles of the battery for at least 2 to 3 minutes, and then put them back on. By doing this, the check light doesn’t show for at least 3 to 4 weeks sometimes. It will come on mostly when I hit a pothole or unexpectedly. I was shocked to see the amount of pellets charcoal that come out the canister purge control valve when I pull out the rubber tubes. Few months ago, I had pull out the canister but no charcoal was in it. I 'd like to know where those charcoals come from and also what's needed to replace. I just don't want matters to get worst on me. I take all out and then put the canister back the same way. Are those pellets charcoal present a great danger to my pathy as far as performance? Since the purge canister is way in the back and it's the one that contains charcoals is there a possibility that the purge volume control vale can be the cause. And how can I tell if it bad or good?. I had code 'P1447' showing on the computer. Does it ring the bell to anyone? All info gathers will be gladly appreciated.
  4. I'll truly appreciate if someone could tell me what's wrong with my Pathy. Every time I turn the steerring wheel to the left you could hear a sqeaking sound and also when the car is in motion.
  5. I won't doubt you. Truly I had found it strange cause I know for fact that the fuel filter is not related to code P0440. I had changed the gas cap two weeks ago but the check light was still on. Is it possible to have the "check engine light " on when the fuel filter is bad?. Or they(Dealer) gave me the wrong code.
  6. I replaced my fuel filter over the weekend, since then the " check engine light" disappeared. The fuel filter works for me. After I 've checked all the EVAP line, my instinct told me to change the filter and I did.
  7. Well, after gathering all info from the reply "Save my Pathy". I went to a local repair shop and I have a mechanic man put my car on a lift for $20. I quickly noticed the upper and the lower rear control arm were bad. they had excessive play as you twist them. The bushings were gone. I couldn't wait any longer so I went to the Dealer and purchased all four links. $135 ea. for the lower control arm $ 92 ea for the upper control arm It wasn't an easy task. The lower control arm was the most difficult one to come off. The man had to use a blow torch to take them out. The upper control arm was the easiest one to come out. Labor cost me $ 100 only. Now my baby is on the run. She drove sweeter as ever. Also, remember I had the "check engine light " problem. As I change the gas filter everything is fine now. Mr. Pickles and Herm_ A million thanks to ya. Your thoughts have been very appriciated. Keep the good work. Himmler.
  8. I'd like to know exactly what's needed to be done or replaced on my 97 Pathy if I intend to put a 20" or 22" tires on it. I'm willing to add them on. Is there any down grade when adding bigger tires?. I'm assuming, maybe the performance could be different or might burn more fuel.
  9. Lately, my 97 pathy has been rocking from side to side when I'm doig 65 mph and above. I feel the wobbling mostly when I hit a bump or the street is not level. I have replaced my struts and shocks for newer ones and I'm still having the same problem. Now I'm having too many thoughts: tires, alignment, bushings ect,. Ain't it better worth buying the arms that come with the bushing than just bushing itself. Where are they located? My wife refused to drive it just for the simple fact. She feels the trucks will tip over. In the mean time , I'm getting tired of sitting behind the wheel,at all time. Anyone knows what's the code P0440. A small leak in the EVAP SYSTEM problem. how easy would it be to find the problem?
