  1. I haven't seen many posts about motor mount replacement. Which leads me to believe that the mounts are sufficient for 100k+ miles.
  2. No, but I see no real need to add a link like that.
  3. Not building a racecar here. Just want to keep the motor in the car.
  4. Motor moves more than 3/4" when in reverse. You can feel the the clunk when the car shifts. I was planing to replace all the mounts, and was hoping for a nice easy R&R. Removing the diff is a bit of a pain, but more time consuming than difficult. Thanks
  5. I have an 01 that I am getting clucking noises when accelerating. I believe it might be that a motor mount has failed. No noise from car over large bumps or stopping. Anyone have a write-up, tip, or advice for replacing them. TIA
  6. In my 01 I have gone 50 miles with the fuel light on, and not gotten more than 19.5 gallons in the tank. Karl
  7. Yes I meant the front lower control arms. Probably should have stated it better. "rear mounting of the front lower CA" Thanks for showing me what I am missing. I am wondering if the lack of these rubber supports may be part of the clunking noise I am getting only when it rains. One could assume the rain lubricates the CA bushing enough to move in the bracket. Plus I am getting a high speed shimmy that comes and goes. Same under hard braking. Thanks for all the replies!
  8. I was wondering if anyone knows if the rear control arm brackets are supposed to have a rubber covering from the factory? When I replaced the control arms on my 01 one side had a thick piece of rubber stuck to it the other did not. P/N 54480 Thanks
  9. I think I found the problem. I was reading multiple other forums when I ran across someone complaining of a clunk they could not find. Turned out to be a crossmember that wasn't fully tight. Upon checking the PO's records I found that the transmission had been serviced. I decided to check the subframe that the trans mounts to. Found 1 slightly loose bolt. Not knowing the torque spec I tightened it to 80 ft/lbs. Still the clunk persisted. Went for the gold and tighted to about 150ft/lbs and the clunk seems to be gone. I still get some odd noise in the rain and the vibration at speed comes and goes. Had the tires rebalanced and that seemed to help some. I can get the steering wheel to vibrate under braking. So I am wondering if one of the front rotors is warped or if one of the wheel bearings is bad.
  10. 1st Post! Purchased an 01 Pathfinder with about 125K. Vehicle had a bad front end vibration and clunk prior to replacing the following. Tires, ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, control arms, struts, swaybar bushings & links, and strut mounts. The clunk still remains, it is actually worse, you can feel it through the steering wheel. I can hear it when I accelerate in 1st and also 1st to 2nd, sometimes in reverse. It also can happen over bumps, or when one tire is unweighted. Doesn't matter if I am going straight or turning. I am still getting a slight vibration at highway speeds after an balance & alignment. The only thing I've read in the forum that didn't replace in the front are the rack bushings. I would not rule out a bad replacement part either, but I'd like to see what else might be an issue as I am new to the vehicle. Thanks!
