Here is my story: I was driving down the interstate and had a belt break (I believe it was the one to the alternator). Anyway, when it went shooting around the engine compartment, it broke the line that runs from the radiator to the transmission. It poured transmission fluid out everywhere. I pulled over and got a tow (rollback actually) to my mechanic. He fixed the belts and I also got the timing belt replaced as a precautionary measure. He also drained and refilled the transmission fluid for me. Unfortunately, the transmission seems to have taken quite the beating from losing the fluid while at highway speeds. 1st and 2nd are fine, but it will not shift to 3rd (much less OD). I got some treatment put in to try to help, but so far no luck. He said that I would need to get a rebuild. Maybe I'll get a miracle and the treatment will work. Are there any other steps I can take that would be less costly than a rebuild? If not what should I expect to pay?
I have a 1994 SE by the way. Thanks!
