88pathoffroad
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/xterra/tech/LSD/ This is Brent's page on how he rebuilt his XTerra's LSD, adding additional clutch plates to tighten it up so the LSD works better. Complete with pictures. The X rear LSD is almost exactly the same as the Pathfinder LSD. Here are a few other good-to-know facts: Part numbers: 38443-C6004 is the 1.4 mm thick disc 38443-C6002 is the 1.5 mm thick disc 38443-C6003 is the 1.6 mm thick disc The ESM notes the following: Always position a friction plate first on rear of side gear. MaritimeMan
If you have the wisdome, please share. All that is needed is a clutch disk for each side, and not a spring disk as well, correct? I read through it, and didn't see anything one way or the other.
hoohaa
Does anyone know where to find more information on this? Brent notes that people have different opinions about how many disks to add and where to add them, but he doesn't say what he did. After doing this mod, with x number of extra plates/disks, how much better would the LSD perform? Would it act like a locker, or would it just limit the slippage a bit? If noone chimes in, I may give Brent a call and chat with him about the benefits. This would be a great low buck alternative to a locker if it works well. Filthy Luker
I think if you search around Nissan4wheelers.com they have some comprehensive info. Edited September 27, 2005 by Filthy Luker
hoohaa
yeah, I did some searching and was surprised by how much information I found. For anyone interested in this in the future, I have included all the links I have found so far, I'm sure there are more, if you know of others, please post them up. hoohaa
Sorry, I am just trying to be helpful to people seeking knowledge about the LSD mod. I don't keep track of everyone's petty disputes and likes and dislikes of other Nissan enthusiasts. If I linked to someone's site that you dislike, well, sorry. sssh

Does anyone have the Part Numbers for the Friction Plates at quick reference? I do not have access to FAST here at work, and I'm calling around today to get prices. 88pathoffroad
Dunno, it may be slightly different from the earlier H233B LSD's...the breakaway number sure is.
vengeful
Yes, it will work for the 2001+ diffs. However, it still won't be as tight as a modified Frontier/Xterra/WD21 diff.
1994SEV6
The link to "Brent's website" doesn't exist anymore. Does anyone know how difficult of a project this is? How long it would take, how intuitive you have to be? I know I have an LSD, but I don't think it's working at all
