MrFixit4692
As soon as I start my 2000 3.3l, the idle speed goes through the roof and I have to shut the engine off before the RPM's red-line and do engine damage. There are no trouble codes, all linkage operates normal and is not sticking and no check engine light(it does come on at engine start then go off). Some time ago I had the famous Idle Air Control Valve failure with ECM damage. Had ECM repaired by Circuit Board Medics and replaced OEM I.A.C.V. It ran perfect after doing this repair. This idle problem happened suddenly with no warning. If I put it in Drive, it wants to run away and the brakes hardly slow it. I have to use the parking brake with the foot brake to slow enough so I can put the trans in park and shut the engine off before it red-lines. It basically acts like I'm holding the accelerator pedal to the floor at all times, both in park and in drive(also neutral). HELP!!! This is my daily driver and only vehicle and I can't use it. Mr_Reverse
Sounds like the IAC valve is wide open if your throttle is closed.
