patbastard
Long time lurker and search user, but I can’t find anything on this one. Does anyone know where I can find the positive battery cable? Or how I could make a new one? I tried to remake the current one by grinding down the copper fusible link point and putting a new connector on the cable, and putting them both onto a marine battery terminal, however the cable is too corroded at this point. Wound up with a dead battery last night, luckily I made it home before it died on me. I know the battery is a good one (less than 6 months old). I have not tested the starter or alternator yet, because the cable is toast anyways and need replacing. Thanks for the help, and I’ll make sure to put up a build thread in a few with pics of my R50

Mostly for the box the fusible links connect to the battery terminal. I know I can cut the blade terminals off and put on ring terminals, but I like to keep things OEM as much as possible. I’ll go that route if I have to, but I’d like to see if I could find the original one first. Edited April 4, 2019 by patbastard
Sjackson2
probably have to snag a fusible link from a JY
Sjackson2
you talking about this part? https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Nissan-Fusible-Link-Battery-Fuse-24380-89914-Pathfinder-Armada-Frontier-Xt/273760562921?hash=item3fbd66aee9:g:GcIAAOSwA~1bpPa1

hawairish
@patbastard Many Nissan battery cables are harness assemblies, so if you need to replace part of it (like the terminal, or the red terminal block that's integrated into it), you're usually looking at replacing the entire thing. The part number for a 96-00 positive battery cable is 24077-1W200, and it's a fairly pricey part ($250+). You can confirm by going to either nissanpartsdeal.com or parts.nissanusa.com, keying in your VIN, and going to their Body Electrical > Wiring section. The diagrams will indicate the harnesses. A JY harness would be a cheaper route if choosing to replace the whole thing, at the risk of fussing with 20-yo harness connectors, though. I'm sure there are custom alternatives, but you'd probably invest as much in a parts and tools to make that work as you would a new OE harness, and would still need to bastardize your OE harness to retain all the various component harnesses.
XPLORx4
Are you referring to the cable that is actually 2 8Awg cables wrapped together which plug into the positive battery terminal and go into the fuse box and terminate at the BATT fuse? That is a part best sourced from a junkyard. If you can’t find one, you can do what I did. I bought a short length of positive 4awg cable, maybe 12 or 16 inches long, from either Batteries+Bulbs or an auto parts store. I ground off the sides of one end of the cable so it so it would fit on the lug in the fuse box, and bent and routed it back through the original hole in the fuse box to the battery. You’ll have to split the top and bottom of the fuse box apart to do this. Then, I unscrewed the 10mm bolt on the positive battery terminal and inserted the other end of the new cable onto the clamp, then reinstalled the bolt. I may have also ground down or flattened the edges of the cable to fit on the clamp. Last year, I found a cheap replacement part at a junkyard, so I swapped it back to OEM. This is exactly what I’m talking about. I put a marine terminal on my battery and soldered on a 3/8 ring terminal to connect it. It’s working but I’d like a more permenant solution. Guess I’ll go check out the junkyard and see what they’ve got.
XPLORx4
To be honest, until I visited a junkyard for other parts and was fortunate enough to acquire the battery cable, I fully believed my solution was permanent. I’m sure whatever you came up with is fine.

I’m sure whatever you came up with is fine. Actually just went to my junkyard and found what might be a solution in a 97 Maxima cable. I think I’ll be able to make something more permenant with it, if not just bolt it on and call it good. On a side note, the interiors of every pathfinder there (3 R50s) had great seats-except the driver seat. All were trashed. The junkyard chain here is running a $15 per seat promo and I was ready to get new seats (mine are pretty trashed-all of them, not just the drivers seat) for $45 plus tax. Oh well, the search will continue. Edited April 6, 2019 by patbastard
Sjackson2
If I remember right....I think I remember someone saying you could use a passenger seat and attach the drivers side seat mount to it and it works fine
patbastard
I might just do that, I was amazed at how nice the other seats looked. Like brand new. Like single grandmas who never saw their grandkids owned them.
Slartibartfast
^^I saw that too about the seat interchange. Seems like the seat back adjusters would be on the wrong side, but that may not be an issue depending on how often you mess with them. I'm hoping the WD21 rails are the same, the driver's seat in mine is pretty worn out.
