1995 Nissan Pathfinder speed sensor?

I appreciate everyone describing what they have done and the result.  We are thinking we will check all the wiring before we buy a speedometer, as it "looks' so workable.  We have an electrician friend with the voltage reader needed to do this...we don't have one or would probably have already done this!   We are not  mechanics and husband needs better direction...hate to send him into too many non-productive directions...it is he who has done all the crawling around under the Pathfinder!

My next step since my speedometer is working but still getting code 14, is to check continuity between pin 32 on the ECCM harness with Pin 7 on the instument cluster harness.

if that is good I have no idea what else to try.

voltage meter at harbour freight is under $5.  and well worth having. I bought 5 of them as I always keep misplaceing them.

Right.  Inexpensive and handy...we just have had no need until now!   Whatever it takes to keep my Pathfinder going!   I refuse to give up on it.  Working on understanding the wiring issues before tackling it again with one.  Husband built himself what he is calling a "creeper"...board with wheel,s so he can more comfortably do this stuff.  Very proud of it...a carpenter more than an auto mechanic.!  ; )

I took it to town a few days ago (before we got covered in 2 feet of snow) and speedometer is getting some kind of power/current as it rises (not accurately) to 20 mph, and eventually 50, again not accurately an does not reflect either speeding up or slowing down.  It has also fallen with gravity I assume, to 100 mph.   Making it a vehicle with 3 speeds:  20, 50, 100!

That does sound more like it's probably the cluster, but yeah, check the circuit first if you can. Keep at it, sounds like you're closing in on the problem. Also, you may be one of very few people who've seen a WD21 speedo read 100!

I've had mine on the freeway doing that speed. Definitely not fun way too scary and very all over the place.?
