Roof Top Tent Fitting Advice Needed

I have a 1998 Pathfinder with factory rails.

I purchased some Rhino rack crossbars to mount a roof top tent, unfortunately the foot pack is where the bolts to mount the tent need to be. So at this stage I will be drilling new holes to move the tent rails at minimum.

My big issue is how high the tent sits on top of the crossbars. It seems to me like it would be easier to turn the rails that are fixed to the tent 90 degrees to rule out the need for the after market cross bars.

Do you guys see any potential issues with this idea?

Has any one here tried this before with pathfinder?

Is it better to just leave it how it is currently set up in the photos?

It does seem like you could rotate those tracks on the bottom of the RTT. You could also consider pulling the factory rack entirely & mounting to the rail below-though that might take some finagling.

So I decided to give it a whirl without the roof racks and it has worked amazing so far.

All I had to do was rotate the tent rails 90'. I did put some foam in between the mounts

and the vehicle rails to protect to try protect the finish.

As you can see it obviously sits much lower which is nothing but a good thing!
