mbro
So my speedometer decided to wig out on me and im told its the speed sensor,so after several searches I see two units on the side of the tranny, anybody know which is which, and had experience changing one of these out? I'm told one is speed sensor, and one is rotation sensor??? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael
onespiritbrain
I know of two sensors related to rotation on the trans: one is on the top driver side of the bellhousing (crankshaft position sensor) and there is a similar looking sensor on the top of the extension housing on a 4WD setup trans. I’m actually not sure what the second one is but I imagine it’d be difficult to get to it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Slartibartfast
Looks like the speedo should be on the side of the transfer case (assuming 4x4), towards the back. There's a picture in this writeup with the speed sensor pointed out.

Slartibartfast
Good luck! Keep in mind there are different variants of the speed sensor with different sized drive gears to suit different axle/tire combos--at least there are for WD21s, I assume R50s are the same. The gears are color-coded.
