Texasledfarmer
Has anyone used a body lift, cranked torsion bars and rear lift springs all at once? I've read about lots of combinations but can't find anything on all 3 at once. I don't know if it's worth it or how bad the ride will feel. I have the body lift and I can surely crank the bars but is it worth having the springs as well? Any I'm put is much appreciated.
OH6PILOT
I currently have a 3 inch body lift, and I'm about to install a 3" suspension lift after I'm finished with the new engine replacement. I'll post more about it soon.

Bobsteriffic
+1 on this thread, I'm interested in doing the same thing too. How much body lift is considered acceptable for these rigs? I just don't want to see too much frame...
adamzan
I had have a 3" body lift with the 4x4 parts 3" SL for years. I've got no complaints. If you crank the bars but don't lift the rear it will have a huge rake. Edited October 10, 2017 by adamzan

Also in general I'll ask a simple question, would a torsion bar lift be acceptable for 1" upfront with no other modifications? I would probably put a 1" springblocker in the rear so I could stuff some 32" tires under it. Reckon if I'm gonna get beefy 31" mud tires I might as well go for 32" while I. Florida trails are muddy as all getout!
Slartibartfast
1" should be fine. IIRC you can get away with about 2" before the upper ball joints get unhappy.

I was looking at the Calmini 3" kit, but in all honesty it's alot of money for the same thing that 4x4 parts sells for half the price. I do think that Calmini parts are probably a bit more robust, however... As for SAS...not a huge fan of it unless you're planning on going with 35's or larger. In regard to the body lift, I put on a 3" lift in about 3 hours under $100. I'm a big fan of the body lift, because it make working on the truck ALOT easier...increased clearance between the body and the frame as well as increased room to work on the engine and transmission. Plus...it looks better, IMHO. ~Hans
RF600
I have a 2" body lift, 2" suspension lift. No issue with ball joint angle. I'm running stock 31's with aftermarket wheels. That the only reason I put of the body lift. The wheels poke out more. The body lift gave the clearance so the tires didn't rub when turning. 96pathy
I have been running a 3" body lift and 3" suspension lift with 33" tires for years and have had no problems. You will need to put on an aftermarket rear track bracket to keep the rear axle aligned, longer shocks and I have put longer bolts for the upper A-arm to keep the tires better aligned. Like OH6PILOT says, makes it a lot easier to work on the truck with just the body lift. Would also recommend the 3.3 swap also.
KovemaN
I ran 3+3=33" for a long time on my '91. The only time I ever had an issue was when I lost some alignment shims up front.
