Alright so I have a problem. When I was driving home after wheeling tonight all of a sudden all my dash lights shut off. Check engine light stayed lit and radio stayed lit but everything else just completely black. When I got home I left my lights on and walked around the car and every single light was also shut off except for the headlights and the fog lights. No side markers, no tail lights, no plate lights. When I step on the brake all 3 brake lights come on. Turn signals also still work. What the heck could be the problem?

Sounds like you lost the marker light circuit. Controls the dash lights, corner lights, plate lights. Mine quit when the license plate lights shorted out (cheap heat shrink slid off, I use the adhesive-lined stuff now) and popped the fuse. If you've got a trailer harness, check that first, I've heard of those getting packed with mud when wheeling and shorting out.

I bought new fuses and sure enough, as soon as I flick the lights on the fuse blows. It's the marker lights, plate lights, dash lights, and tail lights. Now I just need to figure out what the heck is shorting out and how to fix it. I don't have trailer wiring.

You said you were out wheeling when this happened? I guess I’d start with low hanging fruit and look for any wiring harnesses around your front and rear lights that may be exposed with your bumper design. See if there’s any wire bundles that look like they got pinched and  unplug all the lighting harnesses you can get to and make sure they’re dry inside. Spray them out with some electrical contact cleaner and maybe put some dialectic grease in them.

Also how are your LED lights on the front hooked up? Does anything tap into factory wiring circuits? If so I’d check those connections first.

That ended up being it. One of the quick tappers I put on my marker light was pretty caked with mud so I just cleaned it off and hooked it back up and wrapped it in tape this time.

It’s been raining quite a bit here lately and the sun finally poked its head out after I got home from work, so I decided to make the best of it. I’ve had some led lights lying around that I forgot I ordered and I decided to throw them in today. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it on here, but both the red pathfinder and the Subaru have been 100% switched over to LED’s (on the exterior at least). However, the license plate lights I had in the Pathfinder were longer than the original ones and would fit back in, so I just gorilla taped them in place. I had been meaning to switch them out, and ordered better ones awhile ago but just never got around to throwing them in. The better LED’s made a HUGE difference, and are more than twice as bright as the last ones. Anyway, the tan Pathfinder didn’t have working plate lights when I bought it, so I threw the old ones that I took out of the red one in. I also put new LED tail lights, backup lights, and marker lights into the tan one as well. They were lying around so I figured why not.

New plate lights on the red rig:

Old ones from the red one now in the tan rig:

As far as the difference goes, the pictures speak for themselves. If any of you want links for the lights I’ll gladly throw them up!

Glad you got it figured out!

Went for a little drive yesterday. Really starting to like this tan rig. Best $600 bucks ever spent

Also threw some led pods on the subie! The housings are really bad at throwing light far enough to see safely so these should help out a lot. Can’t go wrong for 13 bucks!

Haven’t been on here in a bit, so I figured I’d throw up some pics from the last couple weekends. Also I don’t think I mentioned it on here yet but I switched to AC’s up front and am running Land Rover 9448’s in the back now with a pretty long travel bilstein shock. Long enough that I can swap springs on the trail

Anyway, here’s the pics. I think I’ll split them up in a few different posts for each trip

Here’s my car camping setup. Don’t judge the flowers, it was free haha

These are from Saturday last weekend.

Notice something out of place here?

I let my friend drive it so I could make sure the springs seated back in properly haha

We got back kinda mid afternoon and hung out in the hammocks the rest of the day. No trees? No problem.

The next day we went shooting and did some more wheeling and my buddy rode his dirt bike behind me once we were up in the mountains.

Aaaand a little something to remember the trail. There’s now a random boulder with a nice red stripe on it in the middle of the woods now. Time to build some sliders!

Nice photos! Looks like a blast! Im really digging the geology you guys have over there. Kind of reminiscent of the High Sierras. I gotta get up there soon!

In this one pic it looks like you might be bottoming out on your driver side shock. Hard to tell but you might want to get extended bumpstops to save your shocks from damage due to over-compression.

Me and @02_Pathy have been telling him this lol, I’m supposed to get down to the JY and pull some for him next week

That’s crazy how the spring popped out like that! Looks like it was a good trip.

Yeah I need to figure out something to keep if from doing that haha. I think if I swap my bumps to the top it'll keep them from falling out when it unseats. And yeah it was a super rad trip
