jackals
Hello everyone - so please I found this forum and pleased to join - I am stuck out in the boonies of Panama and having to do frequent field repair - I am seeking advice and direction on a new saga with the old devil - when front wheel is jacked up off ground there is lateral movement of about 1/2" on that wheel - I am assuming the wheel hub needs to be tightened??? Anyone have advice if this is the case and how simple is tightening up the wheel hub with basic field tools - thanks...
adamzan
You should be able to remove the drive flange and snap ring, then remove the bearing lock nut plate (2 screws). You can use 2 screwdrivers, a hammer and a screwdriver, or whatever you have to tighten the bearing lock nut. Tighten it only until the play is gone. Then spin the wheel back and forth several times and feel for any roughness or indication that the bearing is not good.

adamzan
If you're not replacing the bearings with new ones, you just need to tighten it until there is no play. It is pretty much hand tight.
PatDes
Those rings are a huge pain! I strongly recommend getting a universal angle grinder bolt wrench, works like a dream on those rings Sent from my SM-G870W using Tapatalk
Slartibartfast
I picked up a socket with two pins on it that fit right into that ring. Nice to have. I like the idea of the angle grinder wrench, though, especially if you're in the field with few tools. And yeah, the lock rings don't need loads of torque. I put a little torque on mine just to make sure everything was seated, then loosened off and went hand tight plus enough to get the lock screw holes to line up.
