97 QX4 Fixer Upper

Still working on cosmetic stuff that I can do to this Quey. I went to my local Pull-A-Part this past weekend which I go there almost every weekend to rob and get parts off Pathfinders/QX4's that are deceased. A 2000 came in on Wednesday so I was thinking about how Nissan changed the headlights on the QX4 starting with the 99 models. I always liked the way the headlights looked on the 99 and 2000 models opposed to the 97 and 98 model QX4's. I got the headlights from Pull A Part which cost me $64 they bolted right up, all I had to do was change the wiring. I cut the factory harness from the 2000 model and wired it on to my 97. Very easy and to me gave it a whole new look.a6bd49eff2c8ccf28b229cb54ed9b17a.jpgb481f895d2aed8b90c372df5c7652f80.jpg

WAIT! The newer headlights from the 99.5 and up simply bolt right in? I thought there would have to be ballasts or something! Please share more?

I'm really enjoying reading about your thread. Learning lots too!

The headlights will for perfectly up to a 2000 model. On a 97 they boat ride up the clear headlights or so much better in my opinion

How about the wiring harness. Did you have to change anything?

Yes. The headlight harness you'll have to change out. I got my headlight harness from the same qx4 I got the headlights off of.

I put one pic of her on the first day I took ownership of my 97 Quey. A year and 7 months later I can officially say she's done. I've enjoyed every busted knuckle and every cuss word along this journey. I owe thanks to pull a part for you were my second home and a huge thank you to NPORA for schooling me with the knowledge to see she got the best service done right the first time. I still try to find stuff to do to her, but guys for a car that has 251k I'd get in and drive her anywhere my heart desires guaranteeing from point A to point B I'll get there. #myjr50qx4infiniti 330eacfd445412bc5b31a95dafcb0373.jpg101a598484ab7379801a763530192f51.jpg781cc3bf1f4d75171543aec9db7b4a5a.jpgac15badd9d9b81c0c622f1df1ad8362d.jpgbc971621420b5ae8d4b6c3dc1b6a140a.jpg9ea668f9e88a87084a874d6d2dd7ada2.jpg1da1c011bf392f49e98fb5001ba63236.jpg72c99db3aa0097c739dadaa9adff78cc.jpg

I'm back at it adding more stuff to this 97 Quey. Added a clock from an 02 Maxima along with the security light. So easy

Injectors installed! This 3.3 with 250k is smooth as silk. It's been a long road to get this Quey where it is. Timing belt, cam, crank seals, distributor, cap, rotor button, plugs, wires, water pump, harmonic balancer, fan blade, over flow tank, back quarter glass, rear spoiler, tailights off 02 Pathy, head lights off a 99 Quey, wheels off 03 Quey, entire suspension brand new, tires, brakes front and back, charcoal canister, vacuum cut valve and bypass valve, L.E.D lighting inside and out, steering wheel swapped, 3 pod gauge pack installed, full underbody undercoatedX2 you get the point. RUST FREE! I've enjoyed every minute of this project.c22731c16c9536ad7cccab6b6e32eac0.jpg3992875f05fbfeaf7da945d2d24b4d24.jpg2514b5522d119999d4d8d63e480b14df.jpg4305d2a118bd29c68c87dcedbebe335e.jpg9410fb1a3168977d9a881b58bf1c97a9.jpg882952dce82815fffbf3ea6d78d559b3.jpg313560b9e4d85612d465ccf2cc1d11e6.jpg384e2f0441e3809fe03aeb9378457e9a.jpg13f68bc0e82c38efb02efa037390b386.jpg

There on the way! Can't believe I found some for a great price. I've been looking forever its Comes with the corner lights too. Talk about a bonus. Can't wait to get started on the install. I've heard that you have to cut part of the radiator support but since I'm putting them on a QX4 I heard they should fit right in no problem. Does anyone know if these statements are true45db5ed0d2cd0b9d2812d29e65145d47.jpg233ab2f24da2b6d539771c05da9732a9.jpg

Dude!  You're QX is looking great!  I want to hear more about that Infiniti clock you installed and those headlights.  First, let's talk about the clock.  To me that clock is the symbol of an Infiniti.  I would love to install a clock light that.  How did you wire it up, how did you cut the console, how did you mount the clock?

How did you polish the plenum?  That looks fantastic.  You could do a thread on detailing engines.  That looks great.

I used a drill with a round wire brush attachment. I took a lot of the brackets off of it to make it easier to get to all the certain spots you might also want to use a wire brush and get different sizes short ones long ones big ones small ones you know what I mean and just go to town on it when using the drill if that's the way you go be careful because sometimes the drill will want to jump and you might hit yourself with it or end up getting into a hose. I used a Sharpie to color in the numbers on top of the plenum0e25248f8f25549dd439780f374dcc89.jpg

I swiped a clock from a Q45. Used a air drill with sanding bits and just grinded the hole out. Used silicone to hold the clock in place. On the back of the clocks it shows you what wire is what it's embossed on-the-clock casing. Very easy to wire up. I made a template of the clock to use and trace the hole for cutting.39b679e86f5dc6961757a9f196d1c4cf.jpg2607733683c137a6936dbd7b30a915d2.jpga129626c2567166d9c98aa523db25f29.jpg
