2012 Liftgate issue (false alarm)

About 2 weeks ago, I got a "door ajar" notification on my dash along with a "liftgate open" notification on the screen where my backup camera is. As soon as I hit a bump, it disappeared. Another bump, it was back on. Little beep and my rear dome light lit up. It quit for a little while-- until today. It kept flashing the entire time I was driving and this time kept causing my automatic door locks to lock and unlock repeatedly. Yes, the liftgate is in fact shut and secure.

The worst part was when I got out of the vehicle and hit the door lock on my key fob. Normally I hear it lock and the headlights flash and the horn beeps. Now it only locks the doors. And, within a few minutes, sets off my car alarm. Almost like the vehicle is sensing that someone is trying to open the liftgate.

I squirted some WD-40 into the latch mechanism hoping that maybe something was gummed up. Didn't help anything. That was earlier this afternoon.

About an hour ago, I drove the vehicle for about 15 minutes and the "issue" didn't occur at all.

Anyone have any experience with what could be going on? And is this something that will require a hefty dealership service?
