Popped by the paint shop to check on the Troutfinder and it was done, so I brought her home and put her back together-Mostly!

Complete color change. Color is Thunder. Toyota color from the 2018 Toyota 86.

Pre-pictures are over in the Garage forum.

Really like the outcome. It came out Sick!

More of the blue comes out when in the shade as can be seen in some of the pics.

They were supposed to leave the decals off of the back. I was gonna paint them flat black or just leave them off. Gonna have to prep them and spray them black now!

Daylight was running out, so I still have to put the rear tire, jack and rod cannon back on. Although I'm debating the cannon or switching over to an awning.

Next up:

-Put the interior back together

-Build custom slim line nerf bars from stock mounting hardware.

-Cleaning and painting the under carriage black including visible exhaust piping, accenting some pieces in Red.

-Detail the engine and engine compartment-Blackout with Red accents.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. I'm very happy with the outcome.

SJackson & Mojotrainbrain- Lol, yeah I've gotten a little carried away since I initially posted thus thread. Honestly wasn't sure I would have it this long, but have grown to love it. Keeps me from pulling the trigger on a Tundra, which I was planning to buy 2 years ago.

Onespirit- Yeah, that's North Hall park. Just a couple miles from the house and I like the back drop!

Spent the majority of the day installing the vinyl flooring and putting the interior back together. The vinyl was a challenge and made a few cutting errors despite the time and thought I put into it. Came out ok overall though.

Finally got around to making some slimline nerf bars from the stock mounting hardware and 1-1/4" steel pipe. I primarily.made them to deflect rocks and road debry. Hopefully they will protect the body a little over having nothing at all.

Also got part of the bug out kit and rear tire rack back on.634d9aea1f2664a70d3a579e2cc265da.jpgcab6b5a98ee2ba11bf61427788ed5fec.jpg4082b93e3897c1908facde56f1568af8.jpg

Spent part of the day re-badging. Blacked out the rear emblems and added a nismo badge.
Also made a one off side body decalto replace the ones I had on the glass, creating an entirely new R50 trim level- The Nismo expedition off road trim package, lol.

Really digging the flat black/red contrast to the new color.

Dude I absolutely love the color, it looks super good. I gotta ask though, why the tinted lights? ?? The regular red would match well with the red you have going on and look really good, and tint like that is not at all safe. Cars with tinted lights are impossible to see at night, and the only thing that really catches the eye of someone behind you at that point is the reflective license plate, which appears to be covered by your tire carrier lol

I appreciate the feedback and agree with both of you.
I originally smoked the taillights to give it a contrast to the silver paint.
Now that it's painted, I have thought of changing them back or even getting some aftermarket euro ones.
Just don't know how the euro ones would look on it though. Also going to switch the front headlights out to the black lens ones vs the ones I currently have that are sprayed over. Just waiting for a deal on them.

Mjo, are they ever really done? Lol.

Really the only other things I have planned to do to it is clean up the under carriage spray it black and add some red accents to it tastefully, build a skid plate for the front to protect the radiator, clean up the engine bay/engine & re-route the intake to help protect the engine when river crossing and possibly build a swing arm tire carrier.

My current rear tire setup was a temporary solution from the start, but will be the way it is for some time while I think of a design for the swing arm.

Other than that, I don't plan to do too much more to it.
Maybe some engine enhancements to try to increase the HP a little, but nothing crazy.

I like the plan with the headlights. Not sure off the top of my head what Euro style tail lights look like, but you've certainly got some options! Red accents will be nice, if careful not to overdo.

Out in Southern Utah on vacation this week. In Moab today, halfway through the Mighty 5.

Made sure to represent NPORA at Arches & Canyonlands while out here!

Couldn't bring the Troutfinder all the way out here from GA, but man would I love to one day!

As an FYI - I believe@R50JR had problems with light scatter from those aftermarket headlights. There is a plethora of aftermarket rears on eBay. I believe I’ve heard of at least one person saying that they didn’t quite fit right though.

Finally got around to touching up some of the under carriage and adding some red accents. Cleaned up and sprayed the rear axle and painted the lower and cross suspension links red. Going to remove the spare tire chain at some point. Should have done it while down there. Have a little touch up to do to clean it up a bit.

Going to remove the nerf bars and get them cleaned up and sprayed tomorrow.

On the front, I switched out the headlights to black housing version, the winch cable to synthetic and added a hawse fairlead.

The headlights I ordered were supposed to have the clear reflector, not amber so a little upset about that, but oh well. I'll cover it with black or red vinyl possibly.

Next and most likely final things to do is replace the exhaust from headers back and completr some engine tune up needs. The belt squeaks when first turning the truck on for the first 30 seconds to 1 minute, sometimes longer.

More recently, it has a metal squealing sound every so often too very brieflly like a pulley may be causing additional friction. It all goes away once the engine is warmed up however.

Wondering if it may be the water pump starting to go.

The tires also rub ever so slightly when turning, so I'm going to make some lift spacers out of aluminum to add 1/4"-1/2" to clear them. Hope this doesn't blow the CV axles when using 4wd.

When I switched to OME springs, the front is not quite as high as it was with the spacers I initially had, so I'm hopeful it will be good since it's on springs and the spacers will get.it back to the previous lifted height.
