Rafferty95PF
So not sure how to describe what is happening. I have a 95 pathfinder and lately it has been having trouble accelerating. The issue started while trying to back up, it is running but moves like a slug then going forward it continues to move sluggish but clears up if I shift to neutral, rev the engine, and shift back. Today it actually died while in drive but at a stop. I was thinking either egr valve or tcc solenoid. I checked the tranny for fluid and smell both were fine. Any thoughts? SpecialWarr
I would start with a serious cleaning of the entire intake , MAF and throttle body. It should be relatively inexpensive and not take more then 2 hours to get them all clean. After that I would be looking at the fuel pressure regulator on the back of the lower intake next to the firewall just to see if it has its hose still attached.
Slartibartfast
Does sound like possible EGR to me. First thing I'd check is the vac lines. Cleaning the intake's not a bad idea, the best power boost I ever got from my '95 was when I cleaned the muck out of the throttle body.
silverton
Falling on its face huh? That sucks. I'd inspect the MAF wiring (there is a subharness you can buy from Nissan that adds a ground for the sensor) and sensor. Any codes stored in the ECU? Can usually get you close to a proper diagnosis. RF600
Easy to check to see if the egr is functioning properly. With the engine running push up on the diaphram of the egr. If it stumbles, the egr is functioning. I should add. Just because the egr is functioning doesn't mean that something associated with the egr is working properly.
