Ok then I am going to move this thread into the 86.5-89 section, just wanted to make sure beforehand :aok:

*A link to it's new location will remain in the 90-95 section for about 30 days.

I was just reading your member page. That is a great write up on your Pathfinder. You have some serious stuff on that rig. Impressed. I have to redo mine now that I have this new Pathfinder, but it feels disrespectful to just write over my original Pathfinder that started everything for me and for NPORA. I am still mourning that loss...

I got the Superlift Suspension kit and the first thing I noticed is that the rear of the lift is for leaf springs. That sucks. Its all good though. I am going to get a set of Jeep Grand Cherokee springs from Pick-N-Pull this weekend for the rear and everything will be good to go.... smile emoticon The rest of the lift is perfect. That will be tomorrow's big project.

I hear there's a community that, when asked, can recommend buying just the arms because the kits are for leaf sprung HB's :D

So how much was the kit? A few people have bought just the arms recently and SteeevO, an NPORA approved vendor, posted not long ago about them being in stock and available from him as well (see the Classifieds>NPORA Vendors Section)

I paid $150 for the kit with the shocks. It was a good value and all I need to do is grab some cheap coils to wrap it up.

Here is a link from last night's work done on it.

I did work on the project yesterday, but didn't make nearly as much progress as I intended. I had a minor crisis that took over my day unfortunately, but it wasn't anything terrible. Not a great day though.

I did manage to get a metal cutting blade that will allow me to cut that new set of springs to correct size. And, the new seat tracks didn't help the 95 seats fix into the 88 model Pathfinder. The 88 and 95 brackets are the same, so it must be a difference in the f...loor itself between a 2 door Pathfinder and a 4 door Pathfinder. Things aren't always as they appear. They appeared to be the same. So anyway, I had to MacGyver my way around that. I got some longer metric bolts and actual nylon spacers to attempt to level the inside track of each seat tomorrow.

I wish I had not missed the opportunity to work on it all day Monday, but it is getting done a little more each day. I actually drove it with the body lift and tires for the first time and it rides nice on those new tires.

If they are JGC springs then remember to just cut the pigtail off to begin with, then work your way down in small increments (if it's to high after just the pigtail) and try to keep them cool while cutting.

And I bought some nice coil springs Sunday at Pick in Pull that I need to cut down and install now.

plus, I got the 3 gallon tank outfitted with a regulator, a switch, and a 125 psi super quick air pump..., plus the semi/train air horn that made the pump/tank combo necessary.

The first thing I did was power up the air pump, etc. and WOW... Love it... That sucker pumped right up very quickly and quietly. Next, was the test to see how well it all came together and Holy Crap this thing is sweet!!! You will hear this 6 blocks away in every direction. Did I mention that I love it?

Next question! Should I mount the 3' long air horn outside and in a visible place? Or should I mount it hidden away. I thought about even mounting it up on top, but finishing it in flat or satin black paint to make it less conspicuous. Input??

Jim, I've been following your progress and am glad to see another 2-door being saved.

For the air horn, I like that solution that Ahardb0dy came up with for his, well, Hardbody pickup... :D He mounted it under the fender well so it's semi-stealth, but still accessible. Your 3' horn may be too long to fit there, though.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a family issue that came up on Memorial Day weekend and it cause me to stop working for 2 weeks on the Pathfinder. I am back to work on it again and in the last couple days I did most of the work needed on the front left side. I installed the new Superwinch Locking Hub, new Superlift Suspension lift components, and new Superlift Shocks. I had several issues and they are all listed in the following posts.

Thanks Phillippe. I am moving to a new home this week and then I will be back on the Pathfinder Project again on a daily basis. My new place not only has a real driveway instead of the mud and gravel where I have been living, but it even has a garage. Nice....

I want to send a huge thanks out to NPORA Member Steve Fleury of 4x4 Design.com in Ste. Catherine, QC Canada for the awesome job he did on my new graphics that arrived today. I couldn't wait to get them installed and they look great. Steve created these and shipped them to me as a gift for his appreciation of NPORA and I am very appreciative. Thanks again Steve....

Things are going great! Thank you. I am trying to resurrect the Annual MrJim Run this year on Oct 12th for the reveal of MrJim2 near Mt Ranier again where we went in 2010.
