So tackling my next item... My Seat Belts don't wind back up like they used to when it was new.

What can be done to fix that?

I just throw them into the seat, but the wife had issues with this. I just want to do the front 2.

Me and my dad have rebuild seatbelts in the past. Don't exactly know if it was dot compliant. Reindex the spring, make new one, thing like that. I don't know how hard it would be to open up.

Yup under warranty...pretty amazing really...I've had the two fronts replaced and one in the rear. If you want a quick fix get some Q tips and clean the top seat belt anchor to reduce the friction until you get them replaced.

I found my Warranty info.... Clearly written in the book in the glovebox.

So I called Nissan today and after giving them my VIN they are telling me that it is not covered. WTF?

So a Warranty Specialist is suppose to call me.

Find another dealer. Don't waste your time with fskc sticks that are trying to screw you.

I thought we were talking about seat belts? WTF B?

Spray the friction points, yes. May have to use a Q-tip and let it dry, but yes, drag is part of the issue and less is better.

(unless you like that kind of thing, which is ok... )

Well it's no surprise I did not get a call back. The dealer kept telling me it wasn't a valid VIN. So I pulled a CARFAX. Argh... I'm going down there tomorrow. More tomorrow...

I remember a guy on here took one apart, ran the spring in another couple turns (it's a clock spring, like in a wind-up toy motor) and said that did the job. IIRC he had pictures as well. I didn't find that thread, but I did find this one: :clickdalink:

I've had a look at my belts, and I think the gunk in the belt hangers is probably part of the issue. I tried cleaning it out with a paper towel (not really possible) and a piece of .035 welding wire (also not great); I think a piece of unwaxed dental floss or heavy thread would work pretty well. Whatever human slime is on the hanger is probably worked into the belt as well, though.

I have this saved in my Evernote from another thread on this topic (http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/27747-anyone-know-a-way-to-fix-seatbelts-so-they-retract/page-2), just in case I ever need it. Hope this works for you.

I just had the seat belt warranty replacement done. The dealership had to contact Nissan to have my VIN reopened. They apparently dump old VINs out of their system if the vehicles hasn't been to the dealership in forever. But the dealership gave me no hassles and once the VIN was open they ordered the parts (kind of slow to arrive) and installed them for me. No more throwing the belts onto the seat!

Do not put any kind of lube on the belt. Clean the d ring. Seat belts for your truck are life time if they can still be found. Nissan purges their system after 10 years. the vin does take 24 hours to be put back in.
