Can I lift my r50 3 inches

So I have a 1998 r50 se auto 4x4 and would like to purchase the 4x4 design strut spacers and coil spacers and I asked him if I could run 3 inches spacers all around front and back without issues from control arms/axles/steering linkage/brake lines front and back. He said I could run two inches without problems but he doesn't know about 3. Does anyone know?

you'd have to lengthen your rear control arms to push the rear axle back to the centre of the wheel well.

I am running IronMan lift springs(35mm front and 50mm rear) along with 2 inches of strut spacers. so almost 3" of lift On flat ground and day to day driving everything is ok..HOWEVER...if my front wheels were to flex to full droop I have no doubt that I would rip my CV joints apart. so until I install some limit straps. no real wheeling for me.

Bushnut, you must be saying that full droop would cause the CV joints to exceed their maximum operating angle? What IS their max operating angle? I'm curious because I know of a CV joint specialist that should be able to rebuild/customize CV axles for tighter angles.

Isn't this the kind of thing a subframe drop is meant to get around?

yup.

just a little outside the scope of my front street mechanic shop, and manufacturing ability. seeing as I don't want the full Krypton Fabs kit (a little to much drop and $$) I figure limit straps are the duct tape solution.

I thought my ears were burning ?

Yes I do have one that I started building up.

It still needs the steering linkage figured on robbing some parts from a honda, or another Pathy to build a long section.

Also will need the pan hard drop in the rear.

The part I'm not 100% on is the line up of the holes on the strut towers. They should be right, BUT I can't say they are until they are on. I had nothing to go by on the line up, & they blocks need to be finished as far as grinding goes. BUT I WILL WORK WITH ANYONE ON THE PRICE BECAUSE OF IT!

Now to the qustion of can it be done, the answer is yes, but the question I started asking was should it be?

If you are going to be on road 99% of the time, with no real wheeling in the other 1% the straps should do fine.

If your wanting the most out of your rig a SFD is the better bang for the buck.

Yes it drops the transfer case, so you don't really gain any clearance "at first" but it gives you the clearance to put bigger tires on, plus then your able to still run the 2" spacer blocks. With them you can gain around 6" of lift after the SFD, bigger tires, and then the strut blocks.

It just depends what you want to end up with.
