warn hubs, best investment ever

D.O.P. 6/98, LE, Did my hub swap this weekend, and wow. big difference in my truck. gas mileage has vast improvement, no more humming, and scraping sounds. of course I did take the opportunity to strip all down to spindle, clean up and repack with new grease. No more deceleration when I let off throttle, better pick up. Very happy, and at this rate I will get my money back within 2 months in gas savings. the down side is there might be some issues in front diff, or front axle. Anywho, with the friction drop my truck is very happy, and so am I. highly recommend. I went with the Warn, I got the stud kit, but did not need, plenty of stud on stock hub.

Very good to hear! I'll taking the hub plunge myself after a bit more research. It seems great results are had across the board on this upgrade, just don't know if I'm going to go for the Warns (I've only had great experiences with them on many other vehicles) or MileMarkers as they're almost half the cost. It just seems when I try to save a few bucks by going with cheaper parts, I'm rarely impressed with the end result.

from what ive read, bite the bullet and get the warn. 195 for the whole stud kit. and the back up of years of 4x4 tech.

I am happy with my Warn hubs. The front just feels lighter on steering and coasts farther on decelerating. This is a great investment.

Nice input. Looking forward to putting hubs on my truck soon. However I have found that I can get Warns for near same low price as MM on Amazon. Will probably just go that route.

You can't go wrong with any manual hubs (unless you are too lazy to get out and lock, or plan ahead). As has been said, the difference in drag is quite noticeable as is highway mileage...

Less than $100 for Warn hubs? That is a great deal, I paid that much for a used set of Warns with fubared studs!

Idk the Warns still show on my wish list in Amazon for $157. Which is more than the MM. But worth it IMO

Sorry, I got my Mile Marker #435 from the local 4wheelparts. List $102, and I caught them with a 10% sale or something, so out the door with tax it was $99+change

Point really is that they both work and are worth the investment. If you wheel really hard with oversized tires maybe the Warns are a better choice, if not for quality but warranty? The difference in $ means different things to different people, and it isn't like the Mile Markers randomly implode either. :shrug:

Love my Warns overall, the mpg increase and wear decrease was worth it. Plus it adds some old-school flavor. :laugh:

 

Looking to replace mine under warranty as they seem to have some clearcoat, and noise issues, but the warranty is one of the big pluses over the MMs.

Just bought some Warn Prenium hubs. It was $160 ish on Amazon. Came in 2 days later. Install went smooth. Any difference? I really can't tell but then again I have a SFD with 33s so my mileage sucks anyways. But def happy with my purchase. The hubs will keep the wear and tear down on the CV axles which have been broke on both pathfinders(pre- lift) that I have bought.

We did the Warn hubs almost immediately (along with lift, tires, etc) after buy the Q so we can't compare milage.

These rigs are not exactly light to start with so we don't expect great milage, just comfort and great scenery.

We do still get the goofy 4WD indicator light thing but it has not hurt anything that we can tell.

My 4WD light turns on as well with the hubs unlocked. However it only turns on during long drives at highway speeds. As soon as the car is turned off and turned back on, the 4WD light stays off.

Ok so again im new to Pathfinders. Mine is an R50 to use the correct terminology lol and I am considering going the manual hub route. I notice some of the post mentions stud kit? My plan is to run 31x0.50r15's in the future on 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing rims. As of current I don't "plan" on a lift but who knows lol. Anyway I have only done one set of manual hubs before and they were just a replacement install so this should be new territory to me.

My Warns came with the longer stud kit but the originals fit fine so they were not needed. As for Warn vs. MM, I wasn't worried about price as they soon pay for themselves.

Chiming in my 2 cents. I've run the MM all winter so far, in and out of 4 wheel drive regularly. No issues at all. Definitely one of the most effective upgrades to the Pathy in terms of efficiency and improvement over stock performance.

Okay...call me new. Cause I am. But what are the "warns" used for? Doesn't 4wd vehicles already have lockers installed or am I still thinking like its 1989?

As a kid we had a mits Montero that had the lockers from the factory. I just assumed that technology caught up and now external lockers weren't necessary. Im pretty new to pathfinders, so Im sure I sound like a moron, but someone please explain the pros and cons.
