Is it easy to get anybody to answer in forums?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

What do you need to do to atract attention in forums and get the people to help you with your doubts?

I recently bought a Pathfinder and was really enthusiastic about joining all the forums about it and getting to know a little bit more about her, as well as knowing people that have the same interest and are willing to share info to those, as me, don't know nothing but are eager to learn!

As I wanted to try to start playing with adding stuff to the PAth straight way, I posted a question in the first day, looking forward to the answers and where to buy the parts and all.

Keep looking every day, so far, not even a " I don't know but maybe know somebody that knows..." or " you can try this..."... No interest at all!

Starting to think that you need to have a special badge or tag, or a lucky star shinning on you to have people looking at your posts in these forums.

I will keep visiting and when I do something I will post a step-by-step (will install new android unit + reverse camera + parking sensors very soon).

Please, to the ones that know stuff, look at us, new guys on the block, as sponges, share your knowledge, let us know and maybe we can add something to it and come up with something great!

Thank you and keep sharing!

Luis

Well, a lot of members who have been around a while, may not respond only because they try not to clutter threads up with useless posts. There are not as many R51 owners on here yet so in some cases, you just have to be patient. Im not going to scream SEARCH as some will do, be its also a good idea. Many members have come and gone and cant answer your question, but may have at another time. With over 650,000 posts, some stuff gets answered a lot, others not so much. Again, not many members have the R51, so the info is a little more thin. Be patient. Many have found what they were looking for and thats what makes this a good forum.

A little about me so you know I'm not blowing smoke at ya....

Im a master Infiniti/Nissan tech with almost 20 years of experience. I cant answer everything, cause its simply too hard to fix some things over the internet. I have a decent background with the R51, but i left Nissan about 2 years ago, so I'm not totally up to date. Whats funny is that I have 06 pathfinder in my stall as we speak.

We try to strive to be a 'don't give out bad info' type place. Sometimes a thread also gets lost to members who only use the "new posts" button and not going through every sub section. Also as said by 5523 (a trusted and well versed member around here that has helped many) the r51 is still a youngin around here so not as much traffic happens around here yet for them. It's slowly gathering more as their warranties expire and people start to do more with them and people experiment with them more. Don't be let down by lack of answers right away, we want to help!

Hi guys!

Great just to start talking to somebody, I feel that, once you get the ball rolling, then is just a matter of time before people start finding answers to problems. For my part, I use the search a lot in the forums but some specific problems don't get answered. Like some of you said, the R51 is a young baby... I found some answers in other forums but a bit confusing, so it would be nice to know for sure before trying anything...

Anyway, thank you for the support!

KR,

Luis

Hi,

First I am trying to understand if the cruise control comes pre installed in my car. In american cars apparently is pre installed, so just installing the SWC should do the job if you want to add CC. In EU cars looks like there's a difference in the ECU type, so not sure if I can install Cruise Control on mine by just adding the steering wheel controls ( I read in a Navara forum that it was possible but it sounded too easy to be true...). Next step is to find how big a job it is to change the ECU, but I think this will be too much, with programming and everything, so no budget for that... Installing a Android unit is on the way, ATM waiting for unit to be delivered and will let you guys know how it goes, with pics and everything. My colleague has it installed in his Tiguan and it looks and feels very good, it is German made so it looks quality...

Need to add a reverse camera and maybe some parking sensors, here in Switzerland parking spots are so tight it's unbelievable and with the other half driving the car sometimes, really need that.

I will try to reset the fuel pump(http://pcoa.org.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3705) and check if it improves fuel economy.

The rest is just driving it up the mountains everyday, I am lucky my job takes me to beautiful places and the scenery here in Switzerland is amazing.
