Anyone have anything to say about this harborfreight compressor

I need a new compressor for my air horns and someone suggested I should get one of these:

Anyone have any experience with one of these?

 

I have been using a compressor out of a GM rear air suspension car such as a Cadillac and modify the output to take a 1/4" tubing connector, when I first installed the GM compressor I usually can get 140 PSI out of it but over time it dropped to 100 PSI and now it won't even put out any air.

 

 

I have no idea if the HF compressor is any good but I only need 100 - 140 PSI.

I just bought one of these for re-inflating my tires after off roading. Seems to do the job fine, not sure how it would be for air horns though.

I just need one to fill a 5 gallon air tank I have in my trunk (sentra), did you get it on sale what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

According to the product reviews, some seem to work fine and others tend to overheat. Basically, it's a crap shoot. If you already bought one and it didn't die after 3 uses, you should be good.

Just make sure it can handle being connected to a tank. Some high volume compressors can't handle starting under a load.

Good to know. I might look into one of these so I don't have to drive a couple of miles down a paved road to re-inflate mine.

I got one of these for now but their web site specifically says not for tank use. It will air up a tire in a hurry though! You could always use it to refill the tank once it's empty but not have it connected to the air supply.

Viair compressors are made for tank use.

My current setup goes from compressor to check valve to tank so I don't think there would be a load against the compressor. I haven't gone to HF to look at the compressors yet, too many other projects going on right now. Thanks for the feedback.

I have that compressor, I use it to fill up two 7 gallon tanks before entering the dunes, then I have enough air to go from single digit psi in my 33's, to ~40. Actually the compressor will do 3 without hiccuping, but I can enslave my passengers to man a tank each and get done quicker. I also fill up another 7 gallon at home for use in cleaning carbs, mostly using an air nozzle, or blowing crap of my bench. I love mine, use it year round for cars, motorcycles, bikes, tanks, and such, no complaints. I paid around $50-70 for mine, and got it a couple years ago, (probably 2-3)
