What did you do to your Pathfinder today?

Glad to hear CDN_S4.

Me and a friend went test driving cars and trucks today, drove my Pathy to each dealership and told I wanted it new. Nissan obviously had the Xterra and Toyota let me drive a very nice 4Runner.

OK, I'm cheating (sorta) - this wasn't "today", but July 1st. Took me a while to unravel a couple of computerFAILs and then get the footage sorted and edited. All GoPro POV from the Pathfinder:

Washed the outside again. Wiped down the dash and giggled at the drops of mud I always find(they never seem to go away!).

Also, been monitoring the temp gauge the last few weeks to monitor how the E-fan is working. So far so good. When it was over 90, the gauge did get up to 3/4 with the a/c on, but seem to be working well. Maybe picked up a half mile per gallon, maybe. But revs and runs a lot better(and quieter!)

How difficult is it to do an e-fan conversion? Any recommendations on brands/parts/et al?

Thinking it might be something I want to do once the big stuff is done... would probably be a useful little addition, especially since we've been pushing 95+ here and summer isn't over XD

A ford Taurus or nissan maxima electric fan, a nissan maxima fan switch and coolant pipe section and a relay and wiring is all you need and it will be just like it came from the nissan factory that way.

Bumped into a support post in the parking garage at work coming back from lunch...

Did more damage to the post than to the front bumper, though. :D

I used a Flex-a-lite variable fan speed controller and a trimline fan. Pretty simple and fairly well laid out. IF you can wire a stereo, you can install a e-fan. Whatever fan you use, make sure it move at least 2500 cfm of air for proper cooling.

Yanked my seats out. Removed my sub woofer box and 2 12's to completely shampoo 14 years of dirt, spilled soda, crumbs and loose changed from underneath. Have a portable bissel here at the house. And it works bomb. Plus a heavy dose of hot H2o and OXY Clean!!vamynyhy.jpgvyzyha4e.jpgyzureju3.jpgdyze4yqa.jpg

Starting Friday night, I figured I'd try to make it up to my truck for hitting the column by finally tackling the electrical and installing parts. So I installed:

New from Nissan multi-function stalk = Dash lights now stay lit and cruise control works all the time

JY washer/wiper stalk = intermittent wipers now work

JY automatic heater/air controls = AC blows cold on #3 setting, not just 1 & 2

Reworked the power outlet = (hopefully) no more blown USB power adapters

JY door lock timer (with re-soldered connections) = the doors now unlock themselves when I try to lock them, instead of re-locking when I try to unlock them.

Gave mine a good wash off, wow there's blue paint under the grime! Then that wash off turned into a total polish and buff over the whole thing, then that turned into wiping and cleaning everything inside, then that turned into vacuuming everything inside lol. Looks like a brand new one now.

parked it next to a 94 that I'm going to start swapping out some parts. The owner is looking to sell it for parts or scrap it and has told me that I can have anything I want from it as long as I replace it with mine. First up, the nice clear headlights since mine have been underwater many times and are full of rust.

Saturday, since it was 106 outside witht he heat and Ihave a black truck and this is Texas and summer finally showed up....

My AC was feeling cool, but not cold, but it is hard to tell with a black truck in summer! I decided that since I havent checked my AC freon in 3 years I shoudl start there.

It should be at 1.76 pounds and was showing 1.45....ahhh that would make a difference.....

However I was concerned that High side was showing a nominal reading but Low side was super high/way off before I did a vacuum draw...like there was some obstruction. I refilled and checked the readings and they showed fine, did again Sunday and they showed fine, so maybe it was just me being a bad boy and not keeping up on my AC maintence. :stickwack:

On the plus side I have cold air not cool now!

I've been having AC problems too. Refilled it twice. Blows cold for a day and then it's back to lukewarm air. Suspecting a leak but nothing is visible. Unless this stuff evaporates...?!

Sounds like a small leak.

You can take it to a shop and have them but a dye in the system that will show where the leak(s) are at.

I pulled the grille off, JB'd the passenger's headlight seal to make it quit filling with water whenever it rained, and noticed how pockmarked/faded/oversprayed the grille was. Thanks to the magic of rattlecans, it's black again.

I like it, except that it makes the rust on the hood stand out more...

Was in the process of hooking up my trans cooler and while running the engine heard some slight noise from the front of the engine. Decided to open the water pump cover and inspect the timing chain... Chain has some slack. No buenõ. From here the plan is to order new : timing chain, chain tensioners, chain guide rails, water pump, thermostat and radiator cap. As well as have the radiator rodded and flushed by a specialist.(70$). Parts alone including radiator service will cost me about 600$. Thankfully my good friend is a mechanic with a full shop. This's all starts Thursday. Out of commission for a few days as well.

Took my buddy offroading with his Jeep (he's new and just bought a 4-door). My engine has been running rough for a couple days and I was planning on pulling the plugs to check them this weekend, but driving out today and it was misfiring BAD. So after getting out to one of the dust bowls I told him to have fun and popped my hood. Tightened all my plugs one by one, until I got to...#1? The front passenger side.

Anyway, turns out the distributor cable to that one was coming apart. I squeezed it all back and got home and now I'm gonna be ordering a new set.

Run smoothly right now though so that's a problem solved and a good day on the trails :)
