PATHRIDER
I was at the junkyard this afternoon and got to talking with one of the guys in there and he happens to own a 90 and 92 pathy which is lifted and has 33's on it..He told me that he used a front spring from a 1996-2000 land rover discovery and it gave him a 3.5 lift...no body lift ..I went and checked a 2000 land rover discovery while I was there and it sure looked like itll work..I didnt have enough time to have one of the guys pull it out but ill be back tomorrow to check it

PATHRIDER
the guy I spoke with this afternoon built both his pathy from jy finds..hes even driving a lifted hb for his yard vehicle This is what I saw when I first walked in at pull and save yard this morning it even runs. It has bad exhaust manifold gasket on both sides from the little inspection I did. My buddy offered a grand for it and he was turned down..they said they can make more parting it Edited March 27, 2010 by PATHRIDER

Kittamaru
damn, see if you can snag parts from that - I'd kill for the CV joints at this point, lol. (assuming it's compatible with a '90 of course)

why3zx
yeah, maybe its a junkyard insurance deal? i already had a car when i was 14 and i drag my 4year old with me when i go, but my fav JY around here probably doesn't even carry insurance. PATHRIDER
Cant go to the yard with your son becaus he's 14? That's a great father/son activity I would think Thats their insurance policy I was told..another jy here which is pick and pull allows kids in their yard but theres hardly any pathy in there..Even the main jy here which is spaldings doesnt allow my son to be with me even escorted with their yardman
RedPath88
That's great that your willing t give it a try And even better it they work out! Yeah some yards don't allow kids while some do. Those that don't claim insurance, but a local yard here in town (sadly they specialize in older vehicles and never have anything new enough for me to use anymore) said the insurance claim is just an excuse most of the time. The main reason was theft.. by teens and parents loading little kids with small parts. That was originally he said, how days insurance may be a legit reason. adamzan
At the yard I went to here they make you write your drivers license number down and sign in/out when you take a walk in the yard.
silverton
the local pull-a-parts here are 18+ and they make you sign and pay a dollar to enter.

Dowser
Especially since we just finished mentioning that this could be pinned as a SPRING OPTIONS thread. If and when this gets pinned, perhaps a Moderator will clean up the thread and remove things non related. Like this post for instance.

PATHRIDER
Hey guys sorry for the late update on this thread...I just got back from the jy and the dude that told me about this spring option was mistaken. He pulled out both front springs on a 96 land rover discovery and to his surprise the left side was shorter than the right and skinnier. I went out in the yard with him and looked at all the land rovers from 96-2000 and sure enough they do have skinnier springs on the drivers side than the passenger. So while he was scratching his head I asked im if could it be possible that the previous owner of that rig whre he pulled the springs out of used rear springs for the front instead of the original front coz I was looking at the rear springs and it looks more like what he had in his pathy. He swear that it came out of a 96 and both front.Hes also thinking that it might be an aftermarket springs I was short for time so I told him that ill come back wednesday and call them in advance and have him pull the rear springs out so we can measure it. I will keep you guys posted on this project
