Hey guys another noob question from dogg :)

Did the td27/td27t terranos/pathfinders come out with Limited slips? I'm not sure whether mine has one or not and i can't be bothered jacking the rear up :(

Try putting limited slip in quotes in the search box. Here's one:

LSD

hmmm my 91 could be lsd, i'll have to jack it up sometime. any otherway of checking?

If it has a little sticker it probably has it, run the vin number to see original equipment, do a burnout on some gravel and see if you have 1(open) or 2(LSD) ruts.

:search: and do you see wild colors? if yes, then you have LSD. hehe

The search function fails if you just search LSD, or "do I have LSD" as your terms need to be more than 3 letters long.

checked today, put it on some grass and popped the clutch in first, only one wheel rut. Jacked it up and spun a rear wheel the other when the opposite way.

Conclusion: Open Diff :(

how hard is it to source a diff locker though? How hard is it to source an LSD?

Locker: Best to get one out if USA but they can be bought here for double the $$$

LSD: *Walks out to garage and points* There :D

But i want to see if I can fit it in the front of mine :jig:

It'lll probably be 33mm to big for the front. However, if you find the right 300zx you can fit it's stock rear LSD in our front difs.

Ghetto lsd? Sounds interesting. I think that may be right i remember i went on a run with my missuz's old man in his pathy and he was tapping the brakes lightly to regain traction

Yeah, but that's with all cars. And it's lame and doesn't always work to get you out of a situation.

The LSD equipped WD21s go places that non-LSD/non-locked WD21s can't and that other trucks need lockers to get to.

sooooooo.... I'm wanting to swap out my open diff for a slippery diff. How much of a mission is this? bolt in bolt out?

Jack up

Drain diff oil

Remove wheels

undo 4 axle retaining nuts on each side

pull axles out just enough that they disengage from the head

remove drive shaft

undo all diff head bolts

brake seal

CATCH heavy diff head

Do all that in reverse with new diff head+ LSD oil and your done :aok:

Make sure the ratio's are the same too :D

Drive down here I'll give you a hand

Ive never noticed a sticker on my rear end >.>

I do know is has an LSD though.

Never heard of "ghetto lsd" either. Sometimes when like one wheel is hanging in the air you might need a little brake action to help coax the diff into working a bit harder. At least, thats how we used to do it in the full size chevys. Even the posi in those needed a little help to get workin sometimes, in some more extreme circumstances. For me, Im still finding this fine line in the pathy. Used to having drums in the rear, and the pathy having discs, a little touch on the pedal goes a long way.
