power steering hose leak

The hose from the pump to the steering rack is leaking from where the rubber goes into the fitting where it changes to metal pipe going to the steering rack. I'm being quoted over two hundred dollars for part to replace. What all am I getting for that. From the banjo fitting on the pump to where? Thanks

What you're getting is called the "pressure hose assembly". It goes from the banjo bolt on the pump, up to a rubber section that goes down by the exhaust. When it hits the fram, it turns into metal tubing again and goes across the front of the vehicle to the steering box.

 

Unfortunately, there's no way to just change part of it, the same thing happened to me. I replaced it myself, but it was a pain. The part was about $75 from Rock Auto.com.

Thanks barthel. Pulled out my Chilton and it does look like a PITA. I got the tilt spool out of a bobcat s220 yesterday so I think I can pull off the pressure line install. Happy to know I can get it for less than a third Nissan's gouge.

Rock Auto was about the cheapest I found, even with shipping.

 

And yes, it's a pain, but with a little finesse and muscle, it goes in eventually.

I have the same problem, (been leaking about a year now) I think I'm going to pull the assembly and take it to a hydraulic repair place and have them replace the hose part.
