  1. So I've got a fully stock 4x4 97 and I'm wandering if I can put 31x10.50s on it while still being able to drive it. I'm an electrician so I need it to be reasonably offroadable but I have a hard time getting the stock tire size in my area. None of the shops carry them are they are expensive to ship. If not, can I just put some spacers in it? Like 1in pucks? Tight budget, so I'd like to get the biggest I can with the stock wheels. I'm kinda new to fitment stuff so if anyone knows if I can get 31s that would be awsome.
  2. Anyone heard any thing about these coils?
  3. Im sorry to do this but I have to beat the dead horse that is the ever spawning pathy Lift Thread. Ive checked almost every thread i could find and I just keep getting mixed signals. I would like to do a suspension lift and a body lift (not sure what would be good measurements would be). Im stuck because I want to learn how to do all this myself. However, I don't want to have to replace my control arms, torsion bars, ball joints if I don't need to and so many lift kits don't tell me what I do or don't need. As I'm in this learning phase, some guidance is really appreciated that being said I'd like to try and save money but not go looking for parts in a junk yard. I want a lift in the range of 2" to 3" (2" 1/4", 2" 2/4", 2" 3/4", etc....) this can be achieved through a combination of body lifts and suspension lifts as I'd like to learn both methods. I'm going to have a mechanically inclined friend help me put and teach me a bit but some guidance for purchasing parts or kids would be appreciated heavily. In the form of an aesthetically appealing measurement, my noob mind's ideal suspension lift is: 2" suspension lift + 1/4", 2/4", 3/4" Body Lift. Im a bit confused still but with the research i've done on kits, you shouldn't have to change your control arms on anything 2-3 inches typically? not sure about torsion or camber or ball joints being changed though? 1) OLD MAN EMU 1.75" i've looked at the old man emu one because 1.75" lift plus 1inch body lift is pretty alright in my eyes (because of its simplicity) but jeez 650+ is possibly doable but do i need a specific torsion bar from them for the extra money >>> 990+ is a little steep but is the torsion bar worth it? i'm not doing crazy stuff and i don't plan on it but i do plan on over landing and doing exploring. 2) Rough Country D21 Hardbody Lift (all heights) I saw a forum talking about using a 3" hardbody lift kit and only using the shocks and control arms and then just buying some springs off of rockauto.com (but i don't know how to compare the height difference id receive? Perhaps you can provide a good alternative and explain to me how to tell the difference?). This seems like the best viable and most affordable option, However i can only find 1.5"-2" lift kit. is this going to give me 1.5" lift or 2" lift or a variable height in that range? i'm confused? 3) Id like to her any suggestions or ideas you may have and even websites you'd suggest. I appreciate your feedback
  4. Hello all, I've been a lurker since the fall, having saved my red XE from the scrapheap (it drove to the crusher and they were still going to do it!) Anyway, I'm in need of some odd bits that my eBay searches have failed to reveal up to this point, and scrapheaps in the area haven't been very helpful. Cosmetic condition is not as important as functional condition to me. Grey curved plastic trim piece behind passenger rear door. I need the rear window bolts/caps and the balls that connect the lift struts to the rear glass. Mine is missing both (covered with tape). One (1) of the roof rail crossbars so I can mount a roof carrier.
  5. Hello everyone!! I am lifting my Pathfinder soon. Well, as soon as i can find the right lift. Ive been noticing that ill have to get everything seperate and cant order a FULL kit. I found one that from Australia but it wont let me order it to the United States..... https://www.superspares.com.au/2-inch-50mm-webco-lovells-suspension-lift-kit-for~10251572 Would this even work or does someone know how to get it to the united states? I have done a lot of research but im afraid ill get the wrong things and to do some sending back and such. Could someone please help me with a list of things i should purchase to get a 2 inch to 2.5 inch lift. Thanks in advance for the help... Also im trying to keep the stock rims (17s) and not have to purchase new ones if possible.. ive noticed some parts require a 3.75 back spacing??? Also dont want to go with spacers... Thanks again for the help!! 2004 Pathfinder 4x4 LE
  6. Hey all, I've got a 2001 Pathy SE (RWD). I will do a 2in lift. The one plus to rwd is that i dont have to mess with cv joints. I have been talking with pathydude17 about my build list below. If anyone has the exact mounting part specs, that would be a great help. Besides these, I am not sure what else I need for the lift, please let me know what else is needed. I plan to slowly start doing the upgrades over the end of the year to next year. Im first gonna change the brakes & radiator hoses. FYI the pathy has been in my family since new. Rust free and it just hit a trail for the first time over the weekend. It has 137,xxx miles and it runs smooth except it tends to get hot with elevation. Check out my ig: @irvine.r50 for build updates & trail stuff
  7. I know this topic is covered a lot in the forums but I’m asking for some specific advice with my bfs 2001 pathfinder LE (245k km) Paid $2600. After we bought it we took it to a mechanic and he said the shocks were weak and we would need to replace them soon. (Quoted $1200 and they would probably be some crappy shocks/struts) The bf mentioned maybe getting a bit of a lift when we get around to that. We both know absolutely nothing about lifts or tires or anything mechanical at all so this is where I’m asking for advice. I need to know exactly what to buy so I can take it to a mechanic and get them to install it without them gouging me. (We do go off road from time to time for camping and he also just likes the look) Do I need to get new tires too? Can that be done later? I’m in Vancouver Canada and if anyone has links to what I should get I would hugely appreciate it. Sorry for the absolute noob questions I just want to gift this to my boyfriend and know nothing at all (he can pay for the installation and tires) I don’t want to get any wrong parts or anything either. From what I’ve gathered, the suspension kit from rocky-road.com seems good? “Pathfinder Suspension with GR2 Heavy Duty struts” Not sure if there’s more components I’d need though. Thanks! Amanda
  8. Hey all, I know there are a few topics on this, but I'm feeling a little lost. I know very little about lifts and suspension work and I'm taking this opportunity to get some education. I want to lift my R50 at least 3", however, I kind of want to lift it the highest possible without breaching a crazy cost/labour threshold. what parts would you recommend? is there a relatively complete package I can use/tweak? at what height do I need to start worrying about joint angles etc.? Should these be replaced, and is it relatively easy? what is the process for installing manual hubs? Recommendations on parts? Thanks a bunch! Joe
  9. 1998 Nissan Pathfinder SE, Red, +/-190k miles - Stock. Owned (since new) by my dad who passed away in 2006. For years, I've wanted to completely restore and then further modify this Pathfinder. Yet sadly, it has just sat in my driveway. My dream has always been to turn it into the most beautiful, bad***, head-turning Pathfinder on or off the road. Now... I am all of the sudden able to make this dream a reality, and I need NPORA's help. (I turned here first, so I'm hoping to guys and gals come through for me!) Phase 1: Since it has sat for 5 years completely unused, I had it hauled to a mechanic to get it running. Soon, I'm taking it back to have some further mechanical restoration done. That leads me to my first question. - What should I tell the mechanic to do? Other than a new battery, radiator flush, change of all fluids and a tune-up (which has been done), I'm thinking I should have all belts and hoses replaced. Maybe have the timing belt and water pump done? Check on and replace valve cover gasket (and other gaskets)? - What else do you guys recommend? My mechanic is more of a "budget-oriented", "fix things cheap" kind of mechanic, so me taking it to him without more specific instructions hasn't worked well for me so far. What do I tell him to do to my Pathfinder to make is reliable enough to drive across the country? Money is no object, so I'd rather be thorough instead of quick. What do the experts here at NPORA have to say about this phase? Phase 2: Exterior / Interior renovation. This is is pretty straight forward. I'm just going to have a body shop replace any trim that's bad, get out a dent or two, restore the paint, de-fog all lights, etc etc. Phase 3 (aka "The Fun Part"): I don't know where to start with what mods I'd like. I'm not going to be taking it off-road much or at all (sorry guys) - at least not anytime soon. I still want it to looks and perform like a beast though. This is where I have the most questions. Lift it? - what do you think? (I'm leaning towards yes, but a small lift. Your thoughts?) I will only be driving it randomly and not on long trips. It'll be a sporadic weekend vehicle. I don't want it to handle poorly, but perhaps a lift doesn't affect the handling that much. (I'm VERY ignorant on this topic.) Wheels and Tires? - I suppose it depends on if I have it lifted. Let's assume I lift it a little. What size wheels/tires look the best? Is there a web site that I can reference? What have you guys found that look and perform the best? Lights / Bars / Grills? - I definitely want to do 'something' to add flare. What are some good resources to consult? Are there any DO's and DONT's that I need to be aware of? Performance enhancements? - I'd love to add some things that boost engine / transmission performance, as well as change the tone of the truck to something beefy. What have you guys found that meets those needs? I'm excited to start this project right here first. I'll post updates and further questions so you guys can see the progress of your suggestions.
  10. Hey guys, complete newbie to forum here... but just got my 2002 QX4 lifted and put some 265/70/17 (31.6”x17) rims and tires on her and had a few questions about how to get a bit more clearance/ reduce rub. Researched it a bit and ended up ordering the 2” strut lift by sf creation. Parts came and looked good put them in and definitely lifted it 2” as they said. Got the 31.6” tires on it (bfg ko2’s on American racing baja wheels) sucks the photos won’t allow me to post my pictures... anyways, I’m getting a lot of rub on rears when I articulate even a little bit. A guy at shop said to get longer sway bar end links which I’m probably going to do. Also camber bolts? Same guy said not to worry about them for the 2” strut lift only. What else can I do to get a bit more room in back? Or should I just do the 1” spacers and get new suspension all around?
  11. I have a set of superlift control arms (that or rough country cant remember but whatever they are the same) and no matter who it's taken to I cant seem to get this truck aligned ever again now. The problem being there is too much caster where the top of the tire sticks outward (think reverse drift cars you see riding around on streets). I know the frame isnt bent because before having these on it was aligned perfectly and the truck just sat in a driveway for an engine. Anyone know what I might be able to try or recommend the dude that is trying to align it now to try? Or hell what did I do wrong I dont even know anymore. Just need this thing aligned for the rest of the year and afterwards I'm fast tracking SAS, tired of dealing with all the bs.
  12. I plan on lifting my 2001 Qx4 but i cannot find anything more than 2.5'' in the front and 3'' in the back. Does anybody have any solutions to this? I thought about ordering two sets of the strut spacers and just stacking to desired height but wasn't sure if that was the safest route to go. Not sure about doing an SFD, still researching those. primarily looking for a suspension or body lift. If anyone has any ideas or alternatives please let me know! Thanks!
  13. Hello all, pretty new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could Offer some advice to my current situation. I got a pathfinder recently and have been roaming this forum a ton concerning all the lift kit info you guys have already discussed. That’s been incredibly useful. Given my budget, I ended up purchasing the 2.5”-3” spacer lift offered by sfcreations. It’s a great product, and I had my local shop install it. That being said, I’ve currently run into an issue. On my driver side, I have a cv boot that is leaking considerably. I occasionally hear clicking on sharp turns or full throttle, but nothing terribly concerning or frequent. But, I discovered yesterday that the coil spring on my driver side is unseated from it’s bottom mount- some of it is on the plate, but it hangs out over the fitting in some spots. Is that enough to explain the busted cv boot? The passenger side has held up fine so far.
