  1. I finally removed my busted speed sensor after leaving it alone for awhile.....but now I can't find the bolt that attached it to the case. Anyone know what size it is? Thanks
  2. Thanks fixinto!........I tried your suggestion and it worked for 2 days but then it started acting up again at startup (pegged at 8K) but then went back to normal after a few miles......I applied flux to every spot on the back of the board then heated it to the point of melting and added more solder. Did I do something wrong or should I try the same procedure again? Thanks!
  3. Anyone know the correct size wrench? I want to replace my bearings soon and I read that you're supposed to adjust the bearing preload to the correct torque after installing. I can't imagine doing that without the right tool. ALLDATADIY says part #J36001 is the tool but I found nothing and and adjustable wrench at amazon is like $160! Thanks
  4. yeah....there is a procedure to reset the ecm diagnostics. I did a search for nissan drive cycles and found some info. You have to bring it up to a certain speed on the highway then let off the gas and let it slow down without the brakes, plus some other stuff. No biggy
  5. Thanks Howie....my ride is emissions exempt since I keep it under 5,000 miles each year. We'll see what happens I guess
  6. I just might erase the trouble code JUST before I drop it off at the garage with my new handy dandy craftsman handheld check engine thingy.....at least I'll pass inspection and be able to work on it later this year!
  7. Thanks guys.......I found the part at rockauto for $130. The only problems are getting to it cause according to the repair guide, you have to lower the exhaust, remove the rear propeller shaft, etc., then remove the cover off the transfer case just to get to the speedometer gear to see if it's stripped. You can't just replace the speed sensor and hope for the best AND you need a working speedometer/odometer to pass inspection in PA. Aren't I lucky this happened when my inspection is due this month!?
  8. Hi it's been awhile....I did a few searches but didn't find what I need.....my speedometer and odometer quit the other night and I have a trouble code 500 (vehicle speed sensor). alldatadiy.com says to check the speedometer drive gear and speed sensor. Do I have to check both or should I just replace the speed sensor? Thanks!
  9. has not set their status

  10. I did a few searches but didn't find what I needed......anyone ever have this trouble code or have to replace the sensor??? My '97's speedometer and odometer quit on me the other night. I checked alldatadiy.com and it says check the speedometer drive gear and vehicle speed sensor. Do I have to check both or just replace the speed sensor. Thanks!
  11. I've done a few searches for this but can't find what I need. My '97 is creeping up on 100K ( I don't drive it much anymore) and I want to go over the front hubs/wheel bearings and replace anything that needs it. I have the skills/tools but I've never done the pathy/4wd before. Any how to's on this? Suggestions? Thanks
  12. Thanks for enlightening me 88....still confused though. This goes back to when I sprayed throttle body cleaner into the tb and a lot of it didn't pour out. Then I poured seafoam into a vacuum line. That is when I got the cylinder 1 misfire and knock sensor trouble codes. The engine was idling really rough for awhile but seems to have smoothed out. I figured it was a clogged injector......the plugs are all clean. The rough idle started right after I poured all that cleaner in there. what else could it be? thanks again
  13. It's the #1 cylinder(as far as the tcode is concerned) and its actually for my 2000 quest (same engine as my '97 pathy) I poured about a can of seafoam down the intake, but it keep coming back
  14. I was gonna replace mine with poly, but when I saw how thin they were, I figured it wasn't worth it unless they were totally shot. It shouldn't be hard though...
  15. I had a flowmaster 5000 series installed on my '97 and one of cats is leaking so it sounds like a popcorn popper up front, but I get complimnts all the time. Throw that resonator out!
