  1. As much as I would love to upgrade things in the wiring I'd prefer a "plug and play" option of buying the bulb and putting it in
  2. Hi everyone, I'm probably one of few fools that still was buying Sylvania Silverlight light bulbs for my headlights but I'm done replacing my bulbs every 6 months (that's how long each set lasted) or so and spending $40 on each set. So, with that said I'm curious what would you guys recommend as good replacements? I'm not necessarily looking for the HID look but I just want to get bulbs that are bright. Thanks
  3. I think I'm going to get a torque wrench and play it safe. Thanks everyone for the advice. The last thing I want to do is to over tighten the lug nuts or tighten them so much that I can't take them off on the side of the road. Thanks again.
  4. All, Recently I bought a air compressor to help me with things around the house and the garage. I also pickup up a impact wrench so that I don't have to run to the shop to do tire rotations etc. However, I was reading on some sites that it is not recommended to tighten your lug nuts with a impact wrench. Is that true? How do you guys do it? Should I just return the impact wrench and buy a torque wrench instead? I saw my mechanic break loose and tighten lug nuts all the time so I assumed its fine but some folks had not so pleasant experiences with tightening lug nuts with a impact wrench. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  5. HI guys, For a while now I have been noticing noise coming from the front suspension. It's quite evident inside the car and I noticed that the noise happens when there are irregularities in the road or at low speeds when there are pothols that cause the car to sway from side to side. The noise is like a gentle clunk clunk noise. It like a hollow clunky sound (not sure if that makes any sense). On top of that I recently noticed like a rubbing noise durinng slow speeds....it sounds like something is rubbing on the tire...but I checked and there is nothing rubbing. Anyone have similar issues? Any ideas on what this can be? Thanks. '03 Pathfinder.
  6. UPDATE! After replacing the fan speed amp the problem has been fixed. I was able to find the amp for $100 at a local dealer. Thanks for all of the help guys!
  7. Hey guys, I think I'm closer and closer to fixing this issue. With the information from this post plus some other sources I'm pretty sure it is a faulty Fan Control Amp. Here are some good links to help. http://www.justanswer.com/nissan/1onjy-blower-motor-resistor-nissan-pathfinder-se.html And if some of you are handy with a soldering iron there seems to be a $4 fix for this as well... http://forums.nicoclub.com/how-to-fix-your-fan-control-amplifier-t433421.html I'll keep you guys posted.
  8. I looked today by the blower and I don't see anything that looks like a part that I can replace...how does this blower motor resistor look like... is it this? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1316833&parttype=6557 Thanks.
  9. Hi Everyone, While driving yesterday out of the blue my A/C blower started blowing on the highest setting and now nothing will turn it off (besides pulling the fuse). I checked online and on NPORA's posts but there seems to be no real concrete answer. Before I take the walk of shame and take it into the mechanic I wanted to know if any of you have this issue. Some folks on the net said it can be the "fan speed amplifier" or the "blower control module". Each of those is pretty expensive so I'd like to confirm first. This is a 2003 Pathfinder with the digital climate control module w/out Nav. Looking forward to your replies. Thanks.
  10. I was a bit worried that the part where you are is only $30 vs the $176 per each unit I paid. I should mention that in the $700 bucks I paid it also included a full oil system flush and new synthetic oil put in. My main concern here is that I stay on top of all of my mechanical maintenance and for this to go out made me wonder how much longer do I have on the car. I only have 68K on it and I plan on holding onto it for another 2-3 years. I'm guessing that this VVT solenoid isn't something that breaks often. Maybe I'm paranoid about this but just curious what others experienced. Thanks guys.
  11. All, I posted a few weeks ago that my 03 Pathfinder (68K miles on it) was having some intermittent power issues. At random moments the car would have no power and would barely make it up to 40 MPH. After the last instance the Check Engine Light came on. The mechanic hooked it up and the code came back saying its the variable valve timing solenoid. $700 later I'm left guessing why these parts failed...I do a normal oil change every 3K miles...I drive the car daily...I don't tow anything...I don't beat on the car... so I'm just curious if any of you have had this happen to you. Thanks.
  12. Do these instructions also apply to a 03?
  13. How does one clean a MAF sensor? Maybe its obvious how to do it but I rather ask since those things aren't cheap if they break during a cleaning. Thanks.
  14. Hi Guys, I have a interesting question for all of you and I'm curious if any of you have experienced it? About a few weeks ago I was driving and out of nowhere I had no power. The engine was running normal at idle but when put in Drive the car had no acceleration. For it to reach 30 MPH it took a good 13 seconds or so. And the engine didn't rev high either. The trans shifted normally but there was no kick like normal. So, I barely made it home..parked it on the driveway and let it sit for a little. Then after about 2 hrs I started it back up and the car ran fine. I called my mechanic and he said that it wouldn't be a good idea to change the fuel filter as the first step. So I did but then he and I were chatting about the issue and he thinks it could be also the mass airflow sensor. Did any of you have this issue? Let me know. Thanks.
  15. All, I have a 03 LE with Manik brush guards. After devoting about 2 weeks to take them off..take them to the powder coat shop..and now reinstalling them...they look good now. So, the next thing I want to do is to install some round fog lights on the brush guards. Mostly to get better lighting but also scare a few Corollas that might be slowing down traffic. In my past life I had a Blazer with lights but for some reason they kept drawing a lot of current and when they were on lights in the truck dimmed. I don't want to make the same mistake here and instal something that will put a strain on the electrical system. Has anyone installed fog lights like this in a similar setup? Anyone have any pics to share? Any ideas on how to best install the fog lights so they don't drain too much current? THanks.
