  1. Ever since MTV and MuchMusic came out, bands have really gone down the tubes. I mean, music really sucks right now, and i've had a hell of a time trying to find bands that are actually innovators of new styles and sounds. Case in point - how many musicians from 60-70's are good looking? (i'll omit the 80's because that's just a mess) Now that they're all on T.V. and in the limelight, you don't want an ugly musician/band; they don't sell records! Instead, you're finding folks like Britney, Agularia(sp?) Usher, Beyonce etc... who look good, can sing alright, but cannot write worth a darn. They also cop so many samples and styles of previous bands gone by that they are just regurgetating the same stuff that came out years ago, but it sounds like garbage, because they're missing the whole point of that kind of music. It was cool because it was some next sh*t, cutting edge stuff that no-one had ever heard before (zepplin, hendrix...) and music nowadays can't even come close to replicating/imatating etc. what those bands had going on at that time. But the records sell, because MTV and Much don't really care about promoting GOOD music... just whatever they can cross-brand their advertiser's products and styles associated with these 'megastars' to sell to todays youth. They want the kids so wrapped up, drinking pepsi, eating doritos, driving in a cadillac escalade ext (what a stupid truck) on 24" rims, stepping on the gas in your brand new reeboks, that they don't even give a sh*t about whether or not the music in their CD player is good. My advice to you all: stop watching TV, and tell that to as many kids as you can, before it turns them into product-consuming zombies. Give them a zepplin tape to turn them on to the good stuff too. On a funny side note; if any of you were at the toronto auto show this year, and passed by the mercedes benz exhibit, did any of you notice that they had Jay-Z blasting out of every speaker and LCD screen? What kind of young kid that listens to that music has the minimum $40 000 to blow on one of those cars? Marketers are EVIL

    Cancer removal

So i'v got it right above the driver's side rear fender and down at the rockers where they meet the front wheels and back wheels. They are really hard spots to get sandpaper into to remove the rust and i dont want to fight a losing battle with it, could you sandblast these areas? any suggestions?
  3. lol the exhaust would smell like french fries
  4. just wait until your next election. The arabs want GBJr. out so bad, they raise the price of oil to make it look as though he's doing a bad job. If Kerry gets in, i'm sure it will drop a little bit. If he's (GBJr.) in for a second term, ya better start saving the nickles, because we're all gonna be a little tighter this week. Someone in the local newspaper here did a little math with the new gas prices, and for the average southern ontario resisdent will be spending an extra $850 a year on fuel yeowsers! update- mine has been hovering around 85-90 cents per litre for the las couple of days $37 candian for a half tank -ouch
  5. yeah, one of my friends has a new dakota with the 4.7 8 cyl -really nice truck with more then enough power for towing. It's pretty smooth and quiet too. I think i would pick up one of those if I ever decide to get rid of my beloved Pathfinder. I'm gonna do the oxygen temp sensor this week after pay day.. hopefully that will help my situation. One question though, does the ecu automatically notice the new part installed, or do I have to reset something for it to register?
  6. tractor lights work very well, i have 1 on a switch hooked onto the tire rack
  7. do you know of any websites similar to this one, which are devoted to diesel trucks? I'm really pissed off that north america does not import/make any 'jr.' trucks with diesel engines. only gigantic dodge rams and fords etc.. Volkswagen could really clean up with a small diesel powered pick up, but i think the goverment's gonna miss out on some of thier precious gas tax.. esp in canada where fed and provincial tax makes up 50% of the price of gas... sheesh
  8. 160 k km's or 100 k miles. No replacement yet. I've owned it for 60 000 km's and the manifold went about 130 000 km's. It's nothing really loud, just a soft hissing noise when the hood's up. It goes away as the engine warms, so i know it's nothing MAJOR requiring immediate repair. The milage gets dismal when i put the boat on the back too...
  9. Has anyone ever heard of someone sucessfully performed a diesel engine transer? If it's not too much cash i'd love to read about it, and see what i'd need to do.
  10. "must be a ground problem" lol, all the sparkies always say that when lights dont work
  11. alright, gas just hit 89 cents a litre here, and i've been driving with a manifold leak for like 1 season. The exhuast temperature sensor by the manifold has to be replaced (i read the code). The milage this truck is getting is dismal and i know it's the O2 sensor's fault. Now since the manifold has a leak, i was wondering if this could be the cause/effect of the O2 sensor. I don't have enough cash to fix the manifold, but I can afford the new O2 sensor. I'm wondering if the leak in the manifold will cause this new sensor to burn out just like the old one... I'll have to replace the manifold at the end of the summer because of the anti-pollution tests, our wonderful country has, so i'd like to know if either of these problems are related to each other??
  12. Steel Pulse -hot reggae joints
  13. 86 cents a litre here in ontario, you yankees do the math
  14. well i got the new one installed, and she works great, running lights are nice and bright again. It turns out i needed to tighten the one belt driving i the alternator, could explain the need for replacement... otherwise, i'd assume it's from getting water/sand in it from off-roading.
  15. the ticking sounds like a lazy lifter, my miata i had befor the truck would have the same problem. As soon as the oil moves round in the engine, the noise stops. You can get the engine's lifters cleaned. I took the miata apart and found the culprit. As for the manifold, you will hear a definite ticking/hissing sort of sound coming frm beneath the engine. It's easiest to hear if you drive beside a wall. You have to get at the manifold with a light and check each stud holding it on. You'll be able to see if a stud is broken or missing or if there are gaps between the manifold and the head
  16. 88: i could also assume a couple bad pulleys were responsible for some extra wear and tear on the old alternator. Mine would have 'the squeeks' every so often and have quite a bit of pulley racket in general. So i'm going to replace those in addition to the belts, i'll let you know if it makes more effeciency.
  17. so my mechanic suggests i rebuild the original alternator with 160k km on it for 100-200 doll-hairs (cdn) Do you think that would be a better route than just finding a new one??
  18. i paid 350 cdn. a pair when i redid the front sus. on my truck. Just be prepared to cut the old shocks off incase they are seized (common problem in road salt infested ontario)
  19. yeah, i think mine just wen t last night... it was idling and as soon as i turned on the headlights to move out, the engine died. After trying to turn the key, all i get is click-click-click-click All the light and such still work though... Sound familiar anyone?

    Oi

I just joined the forums today, here's a little about me and my truck: I'm 25 years old from Waterloo, Ontario and i own a green 1995 Pathfinder se 4 door with 4wd. I've owned the truck for 3 years now, but i rarely take it off-road unless necessary. I use it mostly for camping and towing a small fishing boat. I'll have a truck pic for the avatar soon.
