Red '88 SE 2-door. 3.0L V6 automatic. 31x10.5 michelin lt's. stock "lego" rims. ~137K miles on it. 3" AC BL. K&N drop-in air filter. 2.25" cat back. Flowmaster 40 series. and a whole bunch of stereo upgrades that i'm too lazy to list right now. i'm looking to get a suspension lift in the near future. i have gone through the tedious process of replacing the starter and as a result i have lost my front skid plate (my dad lost it, actually) the water pump quit on me at about 131K miles. the brakes have been redone. i have upgraded the stereo too. oh, and i get anywhere between 12 and 15 mpg :( oh, and instead of "rarely go off-road" it should say "i go when i can" however that option is not working atm.

  1. yup, that was me who rolled the truck and replaced the body. i used to have a thread on here w/ all the pix but it's deleted now. here's a pic of what i did. did it all in my back yard. http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/ch620/?action=view&current=P8160136.jpg like people said, just build a-frames over the truck and jack the body up (i used come alongs) lemme know if you have any other questions or need to see more pix. and good luck with the project!
  2. do you want to get yourself into trouble or out of trouble? my vote is for a winch. idk if you've been stuck in the mud or snow before, but you can get stuck in that stuff ALL DAY-- or longer. even if you have someone to pull you out (and they don't have a winch) there's still a possibility of that person getting stuck while trying to pull you out. this is where you really get screwed. sure, a locker can help get you out of snow or mud, but it can also get you deeper in (as others have stated). you'll also be able to hit harder trails (obviously). personally, i don't like pushing limits too far, or any intense "pucker factor." that's just me, and i'm scared of rolling over (which i have before lol)
  3. nissan nut has good info on the swap http://nissannut.com/projects/h233_4.9_swap/

  5. yeah, money's tight for me right now too :[ anyway, i know some nissan guys are gonna be goin to prairie city on the 6th at around 10 AM. Nismo5 from rugged rocks invited me. you can try gettin at him on that board if you guys wanna wheel.
  6. i jumped on the PA wedge that i used. but that was on a different vehicle. maybe you can loosen it a lil by jamming the PA somehow, then moving the steering wheel back and forth. these things tend to slide out better if they're in the right position.
  7. i know what you mean, man! i bought an axle a while ago, but the rest of the process is gonna take me foreveerrrrrr! i'm savin up a lil bit here and there. i'm also tryin to do it on the cheap hahahaha.
  8. they made it like that so you know which pedal you're pushing
  9. Mine won't be anything special. i'll probably only put 35s on it. i don't wanna do too much crazy wheeling. i'm just tried of broken steering and broken cvs. my main reason for swapping is reliability. i'll just have leaves up front (stock waggy packs that i got w/ the axle) and i'll probably be too poor to do anything fancy with the rear so i'll just throw some coils and shocks in it and call it done (for a while at least) and i'll probably do most of the work myself. i'm tryin to do this on the cheap! cheap and good of course. so that means it's gonna take a while. oh and i literally live 5 minutes away from Poly Performance!!! i'll get most of my parts from there.
  10. haha i moved to san luis obispo (central coast) aaaand i just bought a solid axle so i'm tryin to save money and sloooowwwwly work on it. so i probably won't wheel much
  11. Thanks for the compliment! I try to post good pics hahaha.
