  1. I was doing between 35 and 40 absolute tops. The speed limit was 35 and I tend to do no more than 3 or 4 mph over the limit. I owe my life and the life of my nephew to that beautiful truck. She sacrificed her life so that we didn't die. People expect some sort of all protective bubble these days and when they get the slightest bit hurt over whatever, they flip the fskc out.
  2. That picture above is from way before the wreck. Here are some links to the after pictures. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v25/Pira...finder%20wreck/ I'm pretty sure that slapping a couple of fenders on won't do the trick. I'm going to try to get it back and strip it out and sell some parts. As for the girl with no license, it was her parents truck and she wasn't supposed to be driving it. After she bounced off of my Pathfinder, she hit a minivan. She's is in a lot of trouble. She got cited for failure to yield as well. I got cited for nothing. There is a red light camera at that intersection to prove that I didn't run the light. I will own the socks off her cute little feet when it's all done. I go to see an attorney in the morning. As for another pathfinder, I will definitely be getting another one when I get the money for one. She was absolutely the best vehicle I have EVER owned. She took all the off road abuse I could dish out to her and while the 4x4 worked, I NEVER got stuck. She sacrificed herself so that my nephew and I didn't suffer more serious injury or even death. She will live on as donor parts for other Pathfinders.
  3. I had just moved to the Phoenix area, acquired brand new AT tires for my beloved pathfinder, was going to go get a parts donor in a few days to fix her up nad some careless snatch yakking on her cell phone turned in front of me and I had no time to react, I slammed into her 2002 Dodge truck and now my Pathfinder is demolished. I went to the hospital by ambulance, my nephew is having neck problems and the dumb kid didn't have insurance or a license. Aside form the obvious concerns about my health and the health of my nephew, my beloved Pathfinder is gone, destroyed. I'm going to try to get her back here to my house and strip her bare then sell the junk for scrap. When it comes up for parts, I'll be letting everyone know. As soon as I get enough money, I'll be getting another Pathfinder. It was the toughest vehicle I have EVER had in my life. Best overall stock 4x4 bar none. I still can't believe she's gone. Farewell my love.......
  4. I'm in the White Mountains, Lakeside to be exact. I used to live in Northern California and wheeled this thing a ton before I moved here. I've taken her off road a couple of times since but nothing serious. I know of a couple of trails here but haven't explored them much as I'm still looking for parts to fix the front end. I found a junkyard with the parts I need and now it's just a matter of money. Hopefully it won't be long nad I'll be back out on the trails again.
  5. Well I've gone through the Chilton's manual again and found absolutely nothing. I'm hoping someone can either get me headed in the right direction or may just have the answer I need.
  6. As some of you know from other threads I have posted, I have no power to my front wheels in 4wd. Now, in the last 2 or 3 months, I have noticed the green 4wd indicator light coming on at odd times. I can be going down the road and it will be intermittently blinking. Not a steady blink but like there's a short to the light. If I give it more pedal, the light stays on steady for the most part. It can be in 2wd or 4wd. A few years ago, I had a shop do a bearing job on the front end and a few months later, I went out off roading and found out that there was no power to the front wheels. I'm searching for and may have found a parts truck so I can replace the entire front shafts from the pumpkin to, and including the hubs. Is there any possible explanation for this? Whenever I shift into 4wd, I shift the t-case of course and back up a few feet to engage the auto hubs. If I wasn't so in love with this truck, I would have poured 5 gallons of gas into it and tossed a match in and had a marshmallow roast long ago. Thanks in advance for any help and advice you guys might have for me on this. Dirkin
  7. Mine is dark red on top and dark grey on the bottom. It's the only Pathfinder I have ever seen with that colour scheme and it's the factory colours as best i know.
  8. I'm new to this forum but have had my Pathfinder for about two years and have many hours and miles logged offroad. I found this forum and am hoping to find like minded Nissan off roaders as well as some help with my project. I have been having trouble with no power to the front wheels for about a year and a half. A shop did a bearing job on the front end and by the time I realized that they had messed something up, it had been about 8 months so I had no real recourse. If I simply swap out the front works from the CV shafts to the hubs I should be OK yes? I just found a really nice parts donor truck with a motor that has a bad upper end, so I have all sorts of parts to work with now to get things working properly now. I'm working on doing a moderate lift of 4"-6", dual transfer cases, a welded rear diff, bigger tires down the road, half doors and eventually an SAS. I am looking for help with a few tech questions also. First and foremost at the moment is a decent lift kit for the front end. I'm going with Ford coil springs from '72-'79 F100 or F150 2WD 8cyl front coils, so I need the front lift. I don't want to do a torsion bar adjustment. Is it possible to do the same in front as the rear with the longer Ford coils? I want around 2"-3" of lift from springs and/or a kit and can make up the other couple of inches with increased tire size. I've also read about replacing the upper control arms and lower ball spacers. I also need a good place to get lower gears front and back. Does anyone know of a good site to buy gears, lockers and other mods for older Nissans? I'm very new to modding 4x4's but very mechanically adept so I can do most of these things myself including any welding as I'm a professional welder. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance. Dirkin
  9. I'm looking for any wheelers, preferably Nissan nuts in Arizona and western New Mexico. I'm located in Lakeside, Arizona in the heart of the White Mountains of Arizona. I dig mudding, climbing, fixing the @!*% we broke wheeling, etc. Dirkin
  10. Not always true. My interlock switch stays in whatever position I put it in. Maybe it's an oddity but that's how mine works. "If you turn the key back off, you'll need to hit the button again for another shot." My '90 has an interlock. Perhaps it was an option and not standard equipment. "they came on 95s that were man-trans......."
  11. Well I don't know about the mileage problem but I had the exact same problem happen to me. I was on my way home from California and the truck smelled like something rubber was burning. It turned out to be the same spot yours is. Upon inspection, the bolts for the flange on the "Y" collector had become loose and it was shooting all the hot gasses straight up to the floorboard. My fix was a new gasket and two new bolts, I haven't had a problem since. I don't believe that the mileage problem is related to the exhaust leak. I hope this helps a bit. Dirkin
  12. I've been to this forum a couple of times in the last couple of months but never joined till today. I have a 90 Pathfinder XE-V6 that is for the most part, stock. I have owned this great beast for about 2 years. She's been a great off road truck. I'm working on A few things over the next few months including half doors, dual t-cases, a lift and a few other things. So here are a few pictures of her... A bit of fun at my old complex a year ago Another bit of fun in the mud about a year ago as well My brother and I when he came to visit three weeks ago or so And my brother and I working on the stump we failed to see, hit, uprooted and parked on top of She is an amazing little truck in just stock form so I'm excited to get some upgrades and mods done to up the fun!
