I'm Probably going to go with an adapter after contemplating the entire thing. I started pricing receivers in crutchfield and they also recommended an OEM amplifier adapter here It has the option to turn down the wattage from the receiver in order not to overpower the factory amps and is $40 which I wasn't too happy about. I have 8 speakers. (4 5X7's, 4 super tweeters...all still stock) Does anyone have any idea roughly how many watts the factory amps provide to the stock speakers? Is one of these things necessary with a head unit that's 45X4? I'm also contemplating disconnecting the 4 tweeters and just replacing the 4 woofers with 3 way speakers. I guess all in all I'm trying to avoid taking out the factory amps and running all new wiring to the speakers.

Any chance someone that has a Chiltons or similar book could post a wiring schematic? I'm looking to install a new in dash cd player and need the wire colors to basically hot wire it into the original system without using an adapter.

On my knees in the yard with a 12 pack and a box of SOS pads scrubbing the rust off my 11 year old stock steel rims for 4 hours used to be remotely amusing...almost tradition. I haven't gotten around to doing it this summer yet and I'm not real enthusiastic about doing it at all. My buddy just picked up some sweet high polished aluminum rims and i'm rather envyous...not only cause they're sweet and will never rust...but they're probably saving him major gas milage also. So in my opinion...if I had the 600 bucks...I'd more than likely go with aluminum also :sniff:

Anyone remember the Spray Tint that came in a aeresol can?!? A buddy of mine actually bought a can back in the day when it first came out...LOL What fun that crap was to clean off the window after it fisheyed, ran and dried. Luckily, I've never had any serious mechanical problems with my 95 XE. The main issues are cosmetic. Got a patch of rust over the driver's side rear fender flare. Also the rubber trim pieces going around all the windows are rusted through. My rear window hinges broke (just bought another set from 88 and have yet to install them). And I dented in my back bumper from backing into an iron pole in a parking lot (ooops). Instrument cluster still needs pulled out and fixed. (god I'm lazy). Ripped off 3/4 of my exhaust on an offroad excursion recently. Still need to get that replaced. (darn I'm broke). Basically that's about it. Most of the normal wear items have been fixed or replaced....except fot the manifold issue. I'm pondering headers to fix that..... ......One of these days.

My stock center console for my 95 XE is just that.

Since the washer fluid needs to travel from the front resevoir to the sprayer on your third brake light in the rear, you may have to work the pump for 10-15 seconds to get the fluid to travel back there. If I don't use mine for awhile it takes like 5 seconds for it to build up pressure in the line before it pours out. Hope this helps

(Copied from 88's sticky on this issue) Fuel/Temp/Misc Guages Not Working, or Sporadically Working Problems with your fuel and temp guages are common with the 91 and older trucks. On the back of your cluster is a small box with some wires coming out of it going to different points on the cluster. This is a voltage regulator for the guages and it is known to fail. I got a new one at my local dealer for about $25 and it took about a total of 2 min to replace. (from MrReverse at AC's forum) A periodic problem on this vehicle is failure of the Dash Voltage Regulator. The cost to repair the Dash Voltage Regulator is estimated at $31.70 for parts and $58.50 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time. (from MSN Autos reviews) As far as removing the cluster...It takes about six or eight screws and half an hour's time.

Squeeks and creeks from interior parts are inevitable. I'm so used to most of them I don't even hear em anymore. My advice is to crank the music up loud and you'll never be bothered while driving again! Although, come to think of it, there is a creek back near the spare tire ( I still have the original spare mounted inside) that I can't pinpoint. That thing on occasion drives me nuts!

Could be the odometer's sending unit on the back end of the transmission could be unplugged or damaged. Check it out or have a local garage look at it for you. n0c

yea my 95 XE is pushing 150K and is basically stock besides the grill guard. I'm still getting a consistant 15 mpg. Not bad considering newer pathy's get about the same.
