  1. First one completed and ready for sale! Solar Version to come soon. Nissan-Sunroof_Shade_Replacement-5445-3600 by Aaron Horrocks, on Flickr Nissan-Sunroof_Shade_Replacement-5444-3600 by Aaron Horrocks, on Flickr
  2. And here shows my Goal Zero power station setup that I have going right now
  3. I set up my solar panel on my roof, and was working out of the back of my Pathfinder. A gust of wind came up, blew the solar panel off the roof, hitting the rear window (which was open), then smashing into the back of my head, flipping over me, and onto the ground. This happened yesterday, and my head still hurts, but surprising, the solar panel didn't break. Even the connectors and wires are seemingly okay. I put it back on, and it's charging again. Only the plastic hinge for the rear window glass broke. Nissan-5442-Broken_Window_Bracket-3600x1958 by Aaron Horrocks, on Flickr
  4. Update: I recorded some videos, and I'll post them as TikToks. I plan to do a full feature YouTube video but since I just cleaned out my truck, I figured now was a great opportunity to get *something* done. Here's the Goal Zero Boulder 100 on the Nissan Pathfinder WD21 roof rack. I made two custom brackets that use the stock knobs to secure the solar panel down onto the crossmembers.
  5. The cooling fan getting stuck on (failure of the centripetal clutch) is a common problem, and it sucks up a lot of power, which is noticeable at low RPMs. Over 20 years and 300,000 miles, I've had two of them fail on me. It's one of the first things that I check when I'm having sluggish performance.
  6. That is super clean. And crazy low mileage. I have to ask how much that cost you????/
  7. I'm not sure that the skiing trip had anything to do with it. It could have entirely been a coincidence. But I suspect getting snow and ice up into everything might have caused a problem. Taking the dash apart is really something I want to entirely avoid. Even though my current dash is cracked to all hell - even if I found a perfect one for free I probably wouldn't want to replace it anyhow.
  8. If money is an issue, I would try to pull a fuel pump from another Pathfinder in a scrap yard. Of course, they're hard to come by in a Pick-n-Pull or whatever. I drove to like 6 in my state one day, and only found a handful of parts that I needed.
  9. My original fuel pump lasted over 25 years and 400,000 miles... So, you know what, I went back with another brand new in the box factory part. I bought mine from Nissan Parts Deal https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com Nissan Part No.:17042-41G03 PUMP ASSY FUEL
  10. I've had that issue for years. Ever since I took a girl skiing in Tahoe, some time in 2004-2006 ish, and the Nissan got loaded down with snow and ice all over the underside, up into the wheel wells, doors etc. Doors and fuel door all got frozen shut. The fuel gauge always read high or low, and sometimes, the needle went way below low. It would never be in the 1/2 tank area. Not even 1/4 or 3/4 tank ish. Just recently I had the fuel pump and sending unit replaced, and my fuel gauge is reading correct now! I'm smiling so big to have it actually read around 1/2 tank again!
  11. If you remove the head piece from the front seat, and move the front seat forward, you can lower the back down all the way to make it flush, or lower than the rear seats. This gives a large semi flat area to sleep in. Add pillows and blankets.
  12. I should have upgraded mine while I was at it. I got an aftermarket one through the dealer, and I think it's not putting out as much as it should. I'm also wanting to have the original rebuilt, but I'm not finding any company that does that.
  13. I can't find my old post where I replaced my radiator, and also added a transmission cooler. This is the one that was recommended by the guys here. I found it in my Amazon previous orders. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C3DDKO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  14. "MAX LOAD 85 LBS EVENLY DISTRIBUTED" is the biggest lie that Nissan has ever told. I've had roughly 400 pounds loaded onto the roof, and nothing broke. I've even climbed up there, to tie stuff down, and I'm usually between 180- 220. The stock roof racks are metal with plastic hardware, and some rubber seals to prevent scraping. They're built very well. I think the 85 pound rating is because they didn't want people to load up the roof, become top heavy, and possibly flip the vehicle by taking a turn too fast.
  15. When I replaced my alternator 2 years ago, it was the original one! I'm the 2nd owner to my PF, and this alternator lasted 25 years, and 389,000 miles.
  16. Here's the dash lights that started showing up when my alternator was starting to die:
  17. Unclogging the sunroof drain holes in a Nissan Pathfinder It seems every couple of years I'm trying to unclog the drain holes in my sunroof's channel. I found quite possibly the perfect tool for it, by accident. In a hardware store I stumbled upon this hair clog removing tool with a narrow tip, meant to clean out a drain, and fit through a small trap in the sink or bathtub. It's working far better than pipe cleaners or flexible rods, because it pulls dirt and debris out of the top end of the drain hole.
  18. So the fridge that I bought, and am using off of my solar system, now comes in black and looks a lot nicer. After a year of use, the white lid on my fridge is looking a little dirty. https://www.amazon.com/Aspenora-37-Quart-Portable-Refrigerator-Compressor/dp/B085VV4C9W/
  19. I had a seriously damaged front bumper on my 1994 Nissan Pathfinder, and I eventually upgraded to an ARB Bullbar - which also gave me the option for a winch, so I went with the largest I could fit, which was a Warn XD9000. I couldn't imagine trying to piece together a front bumper in 2020 or 2021 with how hard parts are to get nowadays. Pathfinders are had to come by in junk yards, and when they are, they're usually totaled, or missing the best parts.
  20. Nissan Parts Deal Head Gaskets (need 2) $43.36 each https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts/nissan-gskt-cyl-hd~11044-21v00.html When I go to Rock Auto, I get entire lists of "Gasket Set"s, and I have 9 to choose from. NISSAN > 1994 > PATHFINDER > 3.0L V6 > Engine > Cylinder Head Gasket Set But this looks like a Headgasket AND piston ring set: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=5605284&cc=1211960&jsn=886&_nck=Ekt6BqBF1pwlXdx0gYlm1esw98pF26vehMm%2FGG3C%2Fl2QOXSJubi7WSpUmUSdg3OxWOs2f5z9h422EONy36O0PjCuaadDqI1r86y%2FvJ1lBqy8eOR0sg7Bs%2FdgvugczVYYgJfMSfe0I9wzSZRDpR9DjziwWzlPkuKiTrtgvKunyfGbanuA%2FUu5dYCY6vTY8nEVGNFg7eJieYrP7XM53t2UptNzYDeIfkuqsJqDwNjAb9xlMOS34k2WY0fCFATb0FCOyEnS%2FXo8kHblOW2%2FTRy%2Fbj1eWxehi7ixbcogBJ0blJ4evJwg5yILcqgVhf6pcxMfGkV7ISqopNKfy0erzPiqPq3pjKzuA8wJVrRb0i43Ju23EinC1tCQHnybDfITSkMcWQuL7liBi2uiGe67NFa62w%3D%3D
  21. "Do a compression test" Yeah, okay, but if I already plan on a head gasket and piston ring replacement, that should solve that problem anyhow, right? Like if you get a flat tire, and go to the tire shop and tell them that the tires are old and worn down, so just replace the tires and put new tires on... and then the tire guys says that they want to inflate the tire and find where the leak is.... and I'm just like... Um, just replace the tires?
  22. I replaced all of my injectors 3 years ago. My truck was barely running, even though I was using additives, and had them cleaned. Once I replaced them, VROOM, back to full power! What does a "top end rebuild" mean?
  23. 1994 Nissan Pathfinder has been running kinda rough and looked to be burning a little bit of oil and possibly some coolant on startup. Not too surprising with 416,880 miles I recently replaced the fuel pump and sending unit (yay! my fuel gauge works again!), and my truck is no longer stalling out on hard right turns or hard stops. So that's fixed two issues. However it was still running rough. Of course a cheap move is changing out the sparkplugs, which I did. Some of them look more oily then I'm comfortable with. Even after making sure that we have good fuel and good spark now, my truck has still been running pretty rough. Over the weeks it's been loosing power and seemingly it's spitting out what looks like water from the exhaust. Now she won't start. I'm pretty sure it's the headgasket that's done for. As long as I'm going to have to get a new head gasket, what else should I get? Head Bolts? Probably new piston rings? Anyone know of full kits? Where to get parts? etc?
  24. This may be only because I'm in California with lots of traffic and impatient and rude drivers... But does anyone else get honked at with regularity for driving too slow, or accelerating too slow? The 1988 to 1995 Nissan Pathfinders are great vehicles. But even new in the 1990s, they were fairly heavy, and certainly regular and cheap cars were all faster. Cars in 2010 to 2020 are by far faster and accelerate very quickly. And I'm driving a vehicle that's 25 years old, is fairly heavy, and wasn't well powered when it was new. I'm one of the slowest vehicles on the road in visible proximity, unless there's a semi, or there's like a classic driving around with me. Drivers staying behind me and driving too close, and honking, and getting irritated at me has been getting me flustered.
  25. I recently got a fuel pump, sending unit, and a few other parts from Nissan Parts Deal.
