  1. Thursday I changed all my fluids, installed new fuel filter, blower motor, cabin air filters, gas & oil caps. Today I mounted 2 245/65-17s on the rear to match the front tires (I wanted a benchmark for before/after lift measurements/pictures). And for fun, mounted 1 of my 31/10.5-15s to see how it looked. Kind of like the aluminum, but the satin finish sure smudges easy. If I don't paint them black (alredy bought the primer, satin black, & satin clear) I'd have to polish and seal them. My paint is falling off my fender flairs and my back bumper needs a repair, so I was planning to black out the bottom anyway. Not sure why, but the pics I'm allowed to post keep getting smaller...
  2. Today I changed oil, added a rack guard, serviced the transmission, transfer case, and diffs. Installed new blower motor, cabin air filters, and fuel filter. And I made a missing link; 1-1/4" solid stock with 1/4" tabs, need to do little grinding and drill the holes.
  3. Or something like 3M super weather strip adhesive. I, myself, would probably use some black urethane.
  4. Please excuse my ignorance once again, I have an oil leaking around one spark plug. My 02 has the plastic covers. Shopping for replacements I see now why y'all asked if I found any at a reasonable price O_O! My question is; will Maxima covers work? Or any other model Nissan 3.5? Why are ours so expensive, whats so special about them?
  5. Just in case anyone was wondering, Whiteline and Nolothane are the same product. Desert Rat called today to inform me that my OME springs will ship Monday! Oh happy day!
  6. Ahh one of the joys of Alabama living, our cars don't rust!
  7. Anyone from LA (Lower Alabama) This is practically in my backyard! https://bamaslamsaloon.com/off-road/ If I'm off, I'll be there, as a spectator, but excited to learn of the trails. Can't wait to get my Q done to give them a try!
  8. $10,000 Bounty hole! https://bamaslamsaloon.com/off-road/ Anyone else going?
  9. So apparently I'm waiting till July for my springs... Whiteline (3rd choice) panhard bushings came today, but Nolothanes (2nd choice) will be here Wed. I'm gonna go ahead and start and when my front springs get here I'll just have front struts to do and then I'll add the rear springs at the same time. Then I'll be able to build my drop bracket for the panhard. I have fairly new tires on the front I'll just let them ride and when I'm all done, install my 15s for the alignment.
  10. Poly panhard bushings seemed to be my unicorn. Albeit, apparently now I have 2 of 3 sets I've ordered on the way... As far as anything exterior metal, I'm set up (welders/plasma cutter, endless supply of free steel) & love to fab my own.
  11. Still waiting on parts... Apparently it takes 8 weeks for items to ship from Australia?? But now I have 2 sets of panhard bushings on the way. I'll call Desert Rat in the morning to verify my OME springs shipped. Started cleaning my 15" wheels, red scotchbrite & WD40. They look great & would probably polish up nicely, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna paint with self-etching primer then satin black. I work a full-time industrial maintenance job (12hr nights) and on my days off I've been reverting back to my previous life helping my son out with his swimming pool business. Getting too hot for this old man. I'm chomping to get started on this Qx4, the longer I wait the more parts I buy...
  12. Seems to me, a lot desirable r50 parts are in Australia, and shipping to USA kind of keeps them out of reach. I've had a hard time sourcing poly panhard bushings. Apparently it takes 8 weeks to get them from Australia!?
  13. The weird thing is when my hubs are locked there is no noise. Thinking maybe the free wheeling allows something to overclock. When I get done with everything, worse case scenario I put my original auto hubs back on.
  14. Mine's the Qx4 with auto T-case, but I used cheap ebay manual hubs. Waiting on the rest of my parts to lift & rehab the suspension/steering. Since my noise goes away when I lock them, I was thinking bearings or axle/CV, which I already have. If that doesn't fix my issue I was thinking I'd pony up for the Warns, but now maybe not so much, lol.
  15. I took advise here to order my OME springs from Desert Rat, they were out as well but were expected a shipment this week, and only allotted 3 pairs, 1of which is mine! I'm still waiting on damn poly panhard bushings When I installed my manual hubs I didn't have any noise for a couple of weeks, then every few miles it sounded like the passenger side was riding on the rumble strip on the side of the road, it would last a few hundred yards and quit. I locked them back and it stopped?? Since then, I unlocked them to check, and the noise was pretty much constant so I locked them back in. I'm thinking/hoping wheel bearing or axle, which I have new to install once my last parts come. You're looking good! I'm excited, trying to be patient waiting on parts.
  16. I guess so, I found it and added it on here, albeit too late to help you. I didn't need the use of ratchet straps, everything stayed lined up.
  17. Does the 4wd use the same joints for all 4? Anyone use the sealed option? I kind of like being able to add a squirt of grease myself. Not that I'm having any issues, but at 200K, I'm getting ready to rebuild my suspension/steering and lift it. So as I gather parts I've started looking ahead to whats next on the mandatory to do list...
  18. Dawn dish soap to lube those bushings, helps them slide in then dries out
  19. LOL, this was in December right after I bought it. I finally ordered panhard bushings, as well as $1000 worth of other parts. Waiting on OME front springs AND the panhard bushings... I go out and play with my huge pile of parts, patiently waiting. I did buy the rest of the fluids today to change everything! Incidentally our covid furlough ended so this project will have to get done in well timed spurts.
  20. I want my OMEs! Talked to Desert Rat last week, they said they were only allotted 3 pairs in latest order, but one set is mine. Should ship next week, finally. Only other part that still hasn't arrived are panhard bushings.
  21. I found where I had posted this on another, less active, forum. I wanted to share here as well. We bought our 02 QX4 with a pretty substantial "death-wobble". I orderd all the poly bushings for the 4-links. From what I've been reading, seemed to be a laborious/tricky job. I'm here to tell y'all about my experience. Hoping my parts were coming Thursday, I started at 8:30am by jacking up the 3rd member as high as my jack, w/wood block, would lift, then rested subframe on stands, but the differential was still supported, only lowered enough to give better access to upper links. I believe what I did by not allowing the whole rear diff to hang made the difference, by 11:00am I had all 4 arms out, bushings removed, and bottoms painted. FedEx didn't make it till Friday afternoon, I was already working on something else so I didn't get to the bushings till about 4:30pm, by 6 I had everything back together hand tight. Only problem was it was dark, but everything was still lined up. I'm headed out this morning to install tires, lower it, and torque everything. Can't imagine it taking me more than 30 min. Tool list; 1/2" breaker bar, impact, & ratchet/extension Wrenches & deep impact sockets in 17 & 19mm plus a 14mm socket to lower swaybar mounts and a 21mm to move the bottom of passenger shock. 10mm to remove brake lines. Hammer chisel to remove locating tabs (inside frnt/lower pockets) To remove old bushings; balljoint press pushed out centers, sawzall scored outer sleeves, hammer/chisel drove them out. This weekend I'll order poly bushing to replace in the panhard bar. Hope this helps anyone contemplating doing this themselves. I did it in a dirt driveway, on plywood, in less than 5hrs.
  22. When I did mine last month, I almost didn't use the new ones. Now that I'm going in deeper, I'm glad I'll have the new lower. We got called back to work so I'm not gonna have all the time I want for this project, but at least I'll have all the parts for as I find the time! Scored some great sheet metal last night, I think I have skid plates covered (pun intended, lol) I saw a press in the dumster we used to dispense sealant from 55 gal drums, sure was torn, I saw all the material for potential front bumper build. But it weighs +/- 1000lbs, 10' down, and covered with black sticky goo, had to let it go, SMH...
  23. So my parts pile is almost complete. Still waiting on a few items from Rockauto, panhard bushings, and my OME HD springs from Desert Rat. I spoke to them yesterday, said he was allotted 3 pairs (1 is mine!) and should have them week after next. Gonna go back into the engine and replace both thermostats, PCV valve, flush cooling system, and replace the other VVT-Solenoid. Then tranny service, & add cooler. I can also get my 15" tires mounted on the wheels I picked up locally (15x8 American Racing Baja) gotta order some center caps too!
