  1. Dont know why but thought I would share my hatred for thieves in the Spokane area. This is the story of my pathy. I bought it (a 93 SE) with 95k miles on it. I had it for a month and a half and stopped at my sisters apartment on my way home. I was inside the apartment for literally only 5 minutes and it was stolen. I called the cops and they showed up an hour and half later and actually seemed bothered to have to come see me at all. I found the car 3 days later in a parking lot. They stole my new snowboard jacket, cds and new cd deck. Nice right? Then about a month later I came into town again. I stopped at Safeway to get some cold medicine. I parked out in the middle of the lot with no cars anywhere near me. I was inside, again, for only about 5 mintues. When I came out someone had hit my front end and bent my bumper and fend up. Shop told me it would cost about 1500 bucks to fix all of it. That same night my car got hit, I met my family downtown at Azteca, a Mexican food joint. I came out to my car and someone had decided to turn my antennae into a pretzel. I came out to my car a couple of weekends ago and someone had again broken into it and stole my amp, sub and stereo. Now my auto locks on my doors wont work and the drivers side wont work with a key at all. So i have to unlock it by opening the passenger side. Needless to say I hate thieves and they should all be shot. This sucks. I cant win with this rig and I am getting very disheartened with the whole thing.
  2. Thanks for the info guys. I am just going to suck it up and pay it I guess. I dont know if you were kidding about the insurance thing or not, but it wouldnt work for me. I ALWAYS seem to get caught at stuff like that. Just never been one for the dodgy path I guess. As to the farm truck, my mom lives out in the middle of the wheat fields and she got *too scared* to drive and she had just pulled off the road. She never got a license or anything, and if you have been out in those areas anytime around harvest, well theres just too many damn trucks to find them. Thanks again guys.
  3. I lent my rig to my mom to use so she could pick a stove up and she decided to follow a farm truck all the way home that had no mud flaps. Now there is a crack all the way across the windshield and I got pulled over for it twice already. So my question is how hard is to replace the windshield yourself and is it worth it if I can find the glass cheap enough. I called some glass companies and the cheapest so far is $150 to get a new one. I dont mean to sound cheap but I am unemployed and looking for work. If if this is something I could so myself I could really do to save the money. Has anyone ever done it before?
  4. I am heading to the junk yard tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone can tell me, what kind of antenna from other vehicles will fit my Pathy? I have a 93 SE. Its supposed to be an automatic antenna but it has never worked since I have owned the vehicle. It just stays up. Recently I was out at dinner at Azteca and some drunk ***hole decided to make my antenna into a piece of twisty art. I shoved it down some after straightening it out but now its cracked in half and yesterday while driving it almost competely fell off. I know this may sound like an ignorant question but any help would be great. Also, is it hard to change them out? I dont need an automatic one, just a normal one is fine. I have no idea how much they cost new. Thanks guys.
  5. I need to have the rear end changed out. I already have one but I cant do it myself. I dont have the time and I live in an apartment. Also how hard is it to install those springs? I will probably have to have someone do that as well.
  6. Any Spokane area people know of any good, trustworthy mechanics? I need some work done and I cant/dont want to do it myself. Any info would be greatly helpful.
  7. Im another Spokane Pathy owner. I dont post much, but do a lot of trolling. Just thought I would say hi and throw another Easter WA owner out there.
  8. Okay I will give that a try. Thanks for the help.
  9. I changed my oil and was driving home from Spokane to Endicott (about 83 miles) and when I was halfyway there, my engine started knocking a little. Like it needed oil. I pulled over and checked it and everything looked fine. It wasnt low. It hasnt lost any power either. I started back up and it kept on doing it. So I finished the drive home and this morning i went to Napa and grabbed some oil treatment. They guy said that I had probably knocked some sludge loose. I followed the directions and put the stuff in and now the knocking is even louder. Its a 93 Pathy with about 187k mi. Originial engine. Is it possible the lifters are just gone? Or maybe I just loosened up even more sludge? I am the first to admit I dont know much about cars, mechanically speaking. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks guys.
  10. I would get an old Scout II and fix er up! I loved those. My mom had one when were kids and they rock. They are like tanks.
  11. Well I did a search and couldnt find anything on it, so I was wondering. How much should I expect to pay on average for an engine rebuild on my 93 pathy? I know prices vary I am just trying to get a ballpark figure so I know how much I should save up. I just want a normal rebuild right now, nothing fancy. Any info you guys can provide would be great. Thanks, Geoff
  12. Thanks guys. I saw the starter replacement guide right after I posted. Sorry. But my question was do you think it could be that? I had already checked all the connections everything was good. I have heard starters go bad before and it sounded different than on other cars. Thats why I was wondering. But Pathys are a diff kind of vehicle so who knows. I am attempting to replace it tomorrow. I dont know much about cars so wish me luck. Thanks for the help.
  13. Can anyone help me? My pathy wont start. When I turn the key I get all the power to the windows, doors, radio, etc. But it wont start. Just a couple of clicks than nothing. I took the battery and had it tested. Its good. I think it might be the starter but I got it started once after it quit working and than it wouldnt start again. So would that still be the starter? And if so how do I change that out? Any suggestions? BTW it is a 93 Pathy SE.
  14. Well it seems the entire rear end on my Pathy is bad. I found another one at a junk yard for $450. Is this a good idea, to use a used one? And also has anyone changed one before? Is it a difficult job? I have a friend who is going to help me with it.
