  1. I did mine about 10 years and 80k ago. I was a major job, but not all together difficult. Took a good 20 hours as I'm an amateur mechanic. Just follow the FSM. I seem to recall it was very detailed. There was some point where it called for a special tool I didn't have, but we just used our hands.
  2. I'm not sure what can be done about flaking clear coat. I think the best that can be done is to put a good coat of wax on it. As for the small rusty spot, I had some on my hood from rock chips and the clay bar removed the surface rust. I've used white rubbing compound before and it worked too. Once the rust is gone, touch up paint, and a good coat of wax will protect the metal from future rusting. Have you used NuFinish before? I used that about a year ago on one of my vehicles and my results were just terrible. Just terrible.
  3. I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can you explain?
  4. I think the taillights from the Pathfinder are different from the QX4. Maybe you're confusing the two?
  5. Looks like an epic project indeed. I think the parts car looks pretty good - maybe better than the one you're working on.... Keep us updated. By the way if you you enclose the url for your photo within " " I think the photo will show in the thread. Cool name btw. IronFist. Are you from KunLum?
  6. I've been looking around a lot since I started this post and narrowed it down to the Midland 75-822 that hawairish has or the Cobra 75WXST. I like the look of the Cobra, reviews say people complain about the sound so the Midland looks better. I like hawairish's installation in the center console.
  7. As we say in the South, these guys are a hot mess. Watch what they do with their quads!
  8. Washed it and brought it in the garage for some TLC.
  9. I might not be the best at lifts, welding and custom bumpers, but I'm good with detailing. My plan is: 1. Clay with Meguiars G1016 Smooth Surface Clay Kit2. Wash with blue Optimum No Rinse3. Seal with Jescar Power Lock Blue - wait a day4. Wax with Collinite 845 - Wait a day 5. Wax with Collinite 845 - Wait a day
  10. As you may know, I've owned my 1998 QX4 for about 18 years, I'm the 2nd owner. It was a daily driver hauling kids around, driving all over the SouthEast and basically we just ran it through automated car washes. I drove it to hunting camp sometimes. Then it became the 3rd vehicle with some problems and then it started being neglected. Now I've decided to keep it and I've been working on it. It's running well and I've cleaned it throughly and fixed a few things here and there. I wonder how the 20 year old OE paint will shine? I washed it well today and I'm bringing it inside to run the full paint detail job on it - starting with a clay bar, the a sealant, and finally a high quality wax. We'll see how it goes. It's hard to adequately see how dull the paint is right now and it feels awful. The pics below show some dullness. As for how it feels, find some sheet rock in your house and run your hand across it - that's about the same.
  11. Those are awful close. Maybe 32s are big enough... Thanks for sharing the video.
  12. I know it isn't a Pathy but entertaining. These guys really get stuck! Worth 12 mins.
  13. So basically, there are no significant issues with a 2" lift?
  14. I would love to lift my QX4 a few inches an put some 35s on it. It would make so much more capable off road and look great. But it seems like there are so many things to consider. A 2" lift seems to start with 2 new struts, 2 new shocks, and 4 new springs. Then there things that have to be adjusted right, camber bolts. Do you have to extend the steering shaft? What about brake lines? How about that brake sensor on the rear axle? I keep reading about possible issues with CV axle angles too. I know many (most) of y'all have lifted your R50. What are the side effects?
  15. I'm not too worried about the vibration at this point, but that's a good idea.
  16. It is bright and really lights up well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Could installing the dome light backwards cause a short and blow the fuse? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Nice job. Clean install Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Interesting... I received my high quality led bulbs today from Amazon today. Interestingly I installed the bulbs in the same order as my Chinese eBay bulbs. Map lights first work fine. The the dome light and poof nothing worked. The fuse blew again. I replaced the dome light with the OEM bulb then the fuse and everything works again. What gives?
  20. I'm working on replacing my interior bulbs
  21. I got some recommendations on bulbs from this thread: I ordered the dome lights and map lights from Amazon the other day and they arrived today. Amazon really wastes a lot in packaging, but they arrived safe and sound. The packaging from the seller was pretty awesome. I felt like I had bought jewelry. Here's what the original bulb looks like compared to the OEM. You can see my cheapo eBay bulb earlier in the thread. It works well and is brighter than the OEM. But, I can't decide if I like it. It is a bright white where as the OEM is warm and yellow. So the choice is warm and dim or bright and white.
  22. This is a tough one. The 02_Pathy is a nice looking rig, but hawairish's is an artistic shot.
  23. Since installation Monday, I've been driving the last few days and through the sunroof I can see it vibrating from the wind resistance, but no noise.
