1. It looks really nice & that’s coming from a guy who has had a cracked reservoir for 3 years. You should show how you made it!
2. Slider mounting too I hope...... (My sad front end)
3. Wait, you like that better than a Tide jug?
4. Love that old Path one but I hadn’t seen the QX4 one. So fake though, you’d never let the butler drive it, that’s the chauffeur’s job!
5. Mine lived an easy life & then at 106K, while on our way to get a Christmas tree - Game Over. 5 screws missing. Ultimately had to replace the engine. Do it now before you’re immensely sad!
6. Make sure you pull all the latching hardware from below the hatch & don’t forget to pull the sensor. Good luck!
7. I might be taking mine off as well. I like having the spoiler & it definitely helps a little with dust on the back window but I’m not sure it’s going to work well with my new rack (Rola V-Tech), especially if I put on a hatch ladder. How hard was it to switch out? I expect it’ll be an easy part to pull next JY run.
8. I think @joshrichards might be interested in those spoiler mounts. If not, sorry Josh, I can’t quite remember who it was.
9. Ah, that’s the time period I was looking in so that makes sense. I could have sworn it was in ‘02s as well but maybe not. I loved the red & whites with it.
10. Definitely consider trialing it with plasti-dip. You might consider center striping the hood.@stpickens is planning to wrap it & I’m going to give a plasti-dip trial to the center hump & fenders.
11. I’ve found the Por-15 Chassis Black almost perfectly matches the faded black of all my other exterior parts. Others results may vary. My girl was fortunate enough to spend the first half of her life in a garage.
12. +1 on Cleaning & JY. That price is definitely a priority redirector. I imagine all of us share your concerns re having someone other than you driving it. I would fix it for the same reason even though it’s a rare occurrence.
13. Hi everyone! We’re glad to have you and I think you’ll find this a very usefull and welcoming community. Unfortunately, let me start off with a little bit of bad news in an effort to prevent catastrophe. It is an uncommon, but frequent enough occurrence, for the screws on the power valves on the automatic transmission models to come loose and be ingested by the engine. Sometimes this happens without effect, but it’s usually discovered when it kills the engine. Nissan had TSBs to repair this problem on the Altimas & sport Sentras with the same engine & lost a Class Action Lawsuit on it in California with the Pathfinders. Otherwise, Nissan sadly never acknowledged the problem in R50s & did not alert owners. I was a victim and I know of 3 others in the last 2 years. The fix takes about 2-3 hours and can be done with fairly basic mechanical skills or by a mechanic. I strongly urge you to address it as soon as possible to avoid this sad fate. Below is a link to the best thread available regarding the repair. POWER VALVES http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/17104-threadlocker-on-power-valve-screws-pics/page-1
14. They’re on Amazon too. About $20/pair.@stpickens just did his & I have the struts waiting to do mine.
15. By lock, do you mean the latch at the end of the cable? I don’t suppose you have that link?
16. It’s funny, I think we have four shades of black between us. @‘02_Pathy is glossy to match his paint, I thinkTowndawgR50 is next with a worn gloss then your satin & then my nearly matte Chassis Black. I note the SW crew is all different shades of silver.
17. Love the name! What is her manufacture date (it’s on the driver’s sill), I don’t recall seeing an ‘02 SE without the charcoal fenders & bumpers. Perhaps paint matching was an SE option - I know the reverse wasn’t true for LEs or I would have done it.
18. The SEs came from Japan with contrasting charcoal bumpers, fenders & grill. I know this was true in ‘01 & ‘02 but likely extended ‘00-‘04. That KR02 looks like the metallic charcoal I remember. Personally, I really like it on the red & white ones in particular.
19. Yeah, I think the supply of WD21 carriers outstrips the need & the plate relocators don’t fit the facelifted R50s. If storage space is limited then it’s tough to justify the big carriers.@MicahFelker are you interested?
20. @hawairish suggested it after his retro fit carrier started bending the sheet metal a little under the hatch.@TowndawgR50 designed it & cut it with his CNC. I think it is going on their potential R50 aftermarket product menu.
21. Wait, why is there still a carrier at the JY? $20, take that baby home, there’s someone out there who will love it. If not around you, possibly Micah or he can shuttle it back here to the NW where we can store it until it finds a home. (In all seriousness, even if you just go back for the release only, grab the other hardware like the stuff below the hatch where it latches & it’s sensor.
22. That’s a super nice set up! If you decide to retrofit an R50 carrier, they are showing up with some regularity & we’re getting pretty good at mounting them (see yesterday’s SwingGateFest). If you go for a hitch mount, the Wilco HiClearance Solo works very well. It’s costly though so best to grab used or at an Expo (or OR). BTW, consider Northwest Overland Rally (NWOR) or the British Columbia Overland Rally (BCOR). They’re pretty interesting & worth at least a day ticket & camp nearby.
23. See the R50 Tire Gate Mod: Let’s settle this! Thread to see some of the latest work from them. Likely developing instructions, templates and support brackets & license plate relocaters! Lots of finesse points and improvements worked out yesterday under the diligent eye of @TowngawgR50 .
