  1. Great scenery on those trips! Those are some winning pics of your rig for sure.
  2. Wow, great score! This is a tough call. Personally I'm a big fan of the 4-door D22 trucks (although a diesel D21 4-door would be even cooler), and a SAS'd one would be awesome. If it were me, I'd take the bed off and use that for a trailer build, then build a "canopy" for the truck like they do in Australia to maximize it's camping and wheeling potential. Then of course the SAS and other wheeling rig stuff. That being said, I think I'd make a different call in your case. It sounds like the 2-door you're restoring has personal importance, so I'd be inclined to keep that and eventually have it act as the sensible daily driver. The R50 is also clearly important to you, so I say build that all out with that axle and all your other parts. Lots of options on what to do with the $700 truck to get it out of your life; fix and sell, just sell, use parts, etc. Whatever you do I know it will be well done and very cool, so looking forward to it!

It is only each alternate month that is themed, so you can post up whatever pic you want in the in between month (Some people will never see snow). It is a kind of rule, but a loose one. For example, water crossing nominations may be considered if there is a mud crossing, the truck is in water, or crossing the road in a torrential rainpour. If you post up a pic with no water in sight, then that will be removed. Below are the monthly themes: January Anything goes February Snow pic March Anything goes April Water crossing pic May Anything goes June Sand pic July Anything goes August Flex pic September Anything goes October Sunset pic November Anything goes December Mud pic This nomination thread is open through August 20 or until 20 submissions are reached (whichever comes first).
  4. Wow, that's unfortunate that you guys had to discover that kind of workmanship! Glad to know it's handled now though, looking great.
  5. Yeah the Yota gang is definitely winning on this one, I'm sure Tyler will be teaching me things about my car before I know it! Sad to see yet another R50 owner go, but at least you've left a strong legacy of helpful information though your YouTube videos. Reading through the comments and being on a FB page I've seen lots of evidence of your impact on this community.

  7. If this is a recent issue then maybe it means something, but in my experience the area around grease nipples is just generally messy. There's black grease lines all the way across the undercarriage of my 4Runner where excess grease gets flung from each nipple on the driveshafts and I consider it completely normal.
  8. Looks like a fun trip all things considered!

  10. Welcome to NPORA! Sorry, sometimes posts go unnoticed or nobody has a great suggestion to share. The transmission cooler isn't as big of an issue on these as it is with later Nissans (R51 Pathfinder and N50 Xterra) so the topic isn't extensively covered, but extra tranny coolers have been done on R50's (1996-2004 Pathfinder). Any generic cooler suitable for a midsize SUV should do, just find a place to mount it near the radiator. There was one particular kit from Amazon for pretty cheap that was popular for a little while but I've long since deleted that bookmark. Mounting will have to be custom pretty much whatever route you go.
  11. Man, that bull bar looks sweet! Factory bull bars just don't exist in the US, so I'm very envious. Sorry I can't help, just drooling!
  12. Wow, this is a great story, sounds like things really went great for ya lately! Looking forward to what you do with your R50, and very envious of your truck! Always liked those 10th gens.
  13. I will add a note that some NPORA members have complained of their AC system being lacking in hot climates (like the US southwest), but I doubt you'd be having that issue this time of year in Pennsylvania.
  14. Sounds like you have the auto climate control on your vehicle? 65 is a pretty standard lowest setting for vehicles with auto climate control from my experience, and it *should* be plenty cold if operating properly. Ensure the AC button is on when testing this (there is a button that lights up if I remember correctly). If AC is supposedly on and its still not very cold your AC system may need servicing.
  15. Welcome to NPORA! Sounds like you found a really nice Pathfinder to work with. At that mileage I doubt the timing belt has ever been done, and by mileage it is due. By time it is very overdue, so I highly recommend changing it as a priority (do a whole timing kit that will include water pump, tensioner, etc. as well). Regarding tires, there are a lot of excellent all terrain options. I see on your profile you live in New York, so I bet snow and ice traction is very important to you. Because of that I would limit your choices to: BF Goodrich KO2 Falken Wildpeak AT3W Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac The Falken tires will likely be the cheapest and will perform on par with the other two options, but exactly which tire you go with is up to you. I would research each, there are lots of articles online comparing those 3 tires as they are all very popular choices. Beyond timing belt and tires, I would inspect the vehicle very thoroughly and address anything mechanical that isn't in 100% condition. At only 94k miles, assuming the vehicle is not rusty especially on the undercarriage, you should have many many years left to enjoy it if cared for properly.
  16. Welcome to NPORA Dennis! Unfortunately there isn't a whole ton of information/active discussion on this forum regarding the R51 Pathfinder (2005-2012). I haven't had a deep look myself, but I have never seen an off-the-shelf ladder available for your exact vehicle. In my opinion your best bet will be to find a custom fab shop (especially one that deals with 4x4's and overlander builds a lot) to make you one custom. Roof rack ladders can be pretty expensive to buy so having one specially made will probably be pretty similar in cost if not cheaper. I assume you're looking for one that attaches to the rear hatch?
  17. Welcome to NPORA everybody! Sounds like y'all have some pretty cool rigs, look forward to y'all creating build threads as you mod em!
