  1. Axle seal replaces, shims or spacers adjusted to make best contact patch (tested with grease) put together. Goes! Drove it up a steep firebreak last weekend and drove it yesterday on a rutty/rocky trail. Was only on my ATS. Where my LSD did't quite push me through, the locker got me up a couple cross axle sections without even needing to roll back and attempt the approach again. A couple real steep stuff I tried to just crawl up but was slippery smooth soft rock, so I ended up just leaving a little rubber mark and backing out. http://s1082.photobucket.com/user/mtnboy/library/R50 Diesel Front Diff/TR202 Air Locker
  2. Apologies, a couple complications. Not at all to do with locker other than talked about and resolved above. Been busy and to add to this project I'm fitting, 33's, had my steering rack rebuilt, winch (so making mount up) alternator service. Intercooler had to move, tried making a braket to hang sway bar on (to no luck). Drove it a couple times and had to take apart again as stupidly didn't replace axle oil seal while at it and it started to leak.
  3. Thread arrived, had to open up the centre of the locker which wasn't as complicated as I thought. The bit was slightly too thick and locked up the gears because it was touching. A quick grind down and it's sorted. The threaded piece just taps onto the end of the spline on the axle shaft side gear. It's all bolted up, just need the battery to charge to test it :D. Again i'll try somehow post photos on here, but the size limit makes it pretty tough.
  4. Sorry for the slow update, locker was installed as saod above, took about an hour with a rattle gun. Just had one issue with the locker not having a thread inside the centre for the axle shaft to tighten to. A threaded spider gear is on its way and should solve the issue. Jenny from TRE has fantastic customer service, very responsive and makes little glitches or trouble shooting stress free.
  5. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/44320-tre-202-airlocker-for-r50/ it has started, hopefully it'll encourage a fee more fellow Pathy owners to take their offroading to the next level.
  6. So I've ordered a locker from TRE4x4.com, it took about a week and a half to get to me in NZ. The ordering is through their region rep, the service is great, but unless you know of someone else who has bought one then it could be a little nerving doing the paypal transaction The details Front Locker, part TR 202, I also got their compressor as well as I wasn't sure how the locker gets the right amount of air. The locker comes with a fee stickers and a manual for the locker and compressor wiring as well. I'm waiting for the weekend for a mate to help me install (has a TRE locker in his Suzuki himself). Photos are a bit of a mission on here, but will try post some up.
  7. It can be tricky at times, great to have lockers available. Everyone seems to underate us. We need big tread to clear our big diffs and don't have much clearance in the mid section for mud, but we seem to do well on the rocky stuff. You are probably quite right about where thosr ARB lockers come from ? it happens with a lot of big manufactures, they'll make their own and sell them cheaper. So surely you can't say every chineese factory makes bad products, just depends of their materials and how cheap it is. I found this locker was reasonalbly priced and stated it's built with some good metals like chromoly.
  8. Yeah, ARB does the exact same thing with the crossong of models to applications. TRE4x4.com is TRE new website. It's a little saving going for TRE, paid $656Usd with compressor. I think it was, ARB is close to 1kUSD. Happy to give it a go, new topic or do you have a good place you think it should fit?
  9. TRE, have a couple mates with them and they rate em. 5yr warranty as well
  10. I took the back cover off and was able to count the Ring Gear bolts. Had 10, l was also able to measure the edge and eye up how wide it was which seemed inline with being the R200a (200mm ring). So locker ordered. Going to help pull it through heaps more places.
  11. I've got a Diesel R50. I've pulled out my front diff and am looking for a locker for it. ARB and other catalogs state from 86-15 that 4cylinder vehicles have an R180. I'm pretty sure i've got it in my head from somewhere that all R50's were R200a. Does anyone know their Pathy diffs?
  12. This is what I have found, just whether the locking pin is strong enough, the sway bars get quite a lot of force through them. I broke a front swaybar mount off a strut! These ones are for a patrol, quite strange that they are opposite if they were to fit our trucks. Front would be rear and rear would be front! Adjustable helps ease a bit of worry whether they would fit.
  13. Sorry about the delay, didn't think anyone was following. I got it to fit, haven't got a photo of it all painted black yet. I am thinking of adding tube bar corners to give it a finish look and hide the ugly fluid reservoir!
  14. I was looking at one, but thought selective might be better for the CV's. What size tyres, type of offroading do you do? I came to a conclusion that Our CV's seem good, if the boot breaks though it is all over.
  15. So I have managed some progress, will be using from the factory hook mounts up to the bumper mounts. Heavy as heck! Seems overkill, but I was told clubs like a certain thickness, which was 10mm for hook and recovery mounts. It features a 5mm bash plate to protect the future (when I can afford it winch) I'm hoping it looks good when it all goes on, it will probably all up be 60kg But i'll have protection right to the back of the sump.
  16. Awesome work guys, I've sent some cardboard mock ups out to the engineers to cut and fold a few mounts. Not even sure on the price yet need to be done though! I also went for a drive around a farm today and my rear hitch was a bit low for a couple v dips. I think I can do mounting lower on the bar and cut it down to make the hitch sit higher on her
  17. I had a little search around and found something that is a good start, my stock bumper mounts are not in great condition so I would look at trying to use more bolt holes. I've also front mounted my intercooler which the bracket will need to fit around.
  18. Possibly mixed around in a few different topics so lets try get it all in one. Any structial mounting Winch mounts Bars Recovery mounts First up I'm looking at doing a front bar, I've seen the front of our vehicles and to get a mount suitable to house a winch looks like a bit of a thought out task. the stock bumper mounting points look weak and the main rails look quite thin and not flat. Would you sandwich a steel sheet around the rectangle tubing or where the factory bumper mounts mount?
  19. I've got a wee leak myself, I'm not sure it is just lines, connection or seals somewhere. Been told to clean it all and see where it comes from but cleaning all the oils up in my engine bay is such a mish. Also the fan could splatter it around
  20. Hello from New Zealand. I have owned my R50 for a year now replaced all the knackered running gear. so now I'll be after all the advice and help I can gather to keep my passion for my pathy. I'll start getting into Rock slider build and a bar that supports the future option of adding a winch. Apologies as I work out how to add a photo on this mobile site.
