The bracket that bolts the upper control arm onto the frame decided to snap right at where the bolt goes through so had to swap that out today. Stole the one off the hard body I have in my yard as a parts car. While doing that found out both bolts that hold my caliper on, on the passenger side front decided to call it quits and left at some point. No indication that, that had ever happened so that was interesting to find out. Been using the truck daily and still wheeling it when I can so I've been neglecting it too much. I also think I've decided instead of doing a whole cab swap of a hard body to the path I'll just chop the back section off and weld it onto the pathy. Seems like it is an easier solution than swapping the bodies and rewiring everything in my mind at least unless anyone else here wants to chime in their opinion

Been awhile since I've been on the actual forum, tend to stay on the Facebook side. Been driving the truck again daily still running like a top. Been considering doing a body swap to a D21. Having an actual truck and truck bed seems like it would make more sense for me personally so I don't have to worry about busting out the rear glass ect. Only thing id miss is camping in the rig especially in the snow so still not sure on it. Anyone have any input that uses their truck for work (tools) and to haul things like engines, tons of rock, wood, ect?

I've been doing the same thing while working on my 75 280z. Took the dash out and sanded all the rust off it to paint it. Didn't do a nice embellishment like you did though, I was mainly concerned with protecting from any rust in the future. The new hard line I welded up won't work since Im an idiot and thought it only needed to be ben 45°.when it actually needs to be 90°. Been thinking about how nice it would be to have a 4bt under the hood eventually for the extra torque and mpgs. Too bad it's no feesable

This is &^%*ing dope. Way to make those ugly &^%*ing steelies look sexy AF! Not posted in a long while done things here and there. Cut and made a 45 in the power steering return fitting. Welded it up so it's ready to g in tomorrow. The stock one I bent to fit a few years ago developed a pin hole in it so this should fix the problem and not allow it to happen again tired of no power steering

Scraped the snow off her and put the battery on a charger not too long ago. Cant ger much parts because the virus to make my table. Might start working on my 280z woth cheap things.

If nothing else raise the truck on 4 jackstands, put it in 4wd (low of manual) and stick it in drive or 1st then get out and listen to hear where the sound is coming from exactly

Wouldnt think it would be the rear end since you're driving it around fine in 2wd. Have you tried putting it in 4wd and not locking the hubs yo see if it still makes the thud? That would rule out bad hubs and leave you with the transfer case and diff.

Here's one I just had to figure out on my new to me 75 280z, if you have security lug nuts on your car and lost the key or bought it without a key to get them out get a 12 point socket that will just barely not fit over it and hammer it on. Then you'll be able to turn it off with the breaker bar. This is all I fo easily found on the internet but the real tip here is in order to get the lug nut out of the socket get a scrap 4x4 and drill with a paddle bit a hole big enough for the lug nut but not the socket and chisel hammer it out. Far easier than holding the socket against a corner of something while hammering.

Steel ties are a double edged sword. On one end it will protect against things like this, on another hand they have been known to slice your toes off. Better broken than severed. That's why a lot of places dont allow them. Personally I stick with steel toes

Tried to start it, batter is dead and ran it out trying to start it. Thought about cleaning more of the camping gear out of it and didnt. She's ready for winter lol

Got a new bolt in, picked one up from napa and put it in myself since apparently shops wont fo ig around Anchorage. Got it aligned and it still pulls driver which pisses me off at 130$ to align one single &^%*ing tire. Didnt have a choice though so what can you do. Back in canada now dreaming about getting my dana 44 under this truck finally and throwing another grand at all the special crap to do alignments on my own. Tired of shops that screw me over and dont even do @!*% correctly or like last time where I have to tell them how to do their job.

Just got done drilling the bolt out. Came out super easy as I figured it would. Awesome Alaskans helped out and one of them had a bolt with the same threads, doesnt work out the best but will get me to a shop down the street to get some replacement bolts. Super stoked

Well one of the bolts to the drivers upper control arm decided to snap and sheer off today after visiting matanuska glacier. Stoped off on the side of the road and jacked it up just to see that the bolt just got done shearing. Camping off the side of the road tonight.

Box steel and triangulate it?

Trans is making a rattling that I dont like. The cv boot fix is holding up after miles of dirt roads but hey, here I am in Alaska finally.

Finally got around to putting in the lights just before the border. They make camping in the truck a lot nicer and doesnt drain the battery as much. Also got a clip on fan from home depot for 10 dollars that works awesome. Currently in B.C just outside of the Yukon. Never figured out what I was feeling with the braking but it also went away. I'm assuming it was the bumper just being allowed to shift the small amount from the loose bolt since it went away after tightening it.

Yeah I'm getting around the same, staying in 5th gear freeway driving is nice for a change when you live in the mountains used to switching 3rd all day lol. In Portland for the next two days. Bolt started getting loose on the bumper so tightened it and had to put more brake fluid in last night. Hearing a noise up front I can't quite track down it's only when I brake hard and the weight shifts. Going to get under it tonight and see if anything is loose

Yeah it's a pretty sad story. For sure makes it to where you dont pick up any hitch hikers. Got awhile to get into there, just got into Oregon and headed up to Portland. Trucks getting pretty good has mileage.

Truck is way better to drive now that the clutch is adjusted. Instead of putting in the LEDs ended up putting up the signal booster and running the wires so they are nice and hidden in the trim. What are the odds some kids would get murdered along the alaskan highway doing a road trip like mine 2 or so days ago when my girlfriend is already hella skiddish

D rings are in and wired/mounted the third brake light. Running the wire was more of a pain than expected and wiring ran into issues with the trailer lights. Had to rewire a lot of stuff and took longer than I would have liked but it's done. On the way to alaska now. Side note, trans fluid was brown so had it changed. Need to adjust clutch pedal tonight since driving has been a real thorn in my side and making 3rd even harder than it already was. So tonight is to re organize the back, adjust clutch and hang the LEDS in the back.

Made some sunshades for all the windows to keep it dark, cut and drilled the last backplate again and installed it. Cant remember what else I did to the truck but everything that absolutely needed to be done is done. Today I'll install some d rings in the back and put in a 3rd brake light which shouldn't take me very long at all or so I'm hoping. I slacked on getting the windshield replaced and screwed myself by accident yesterday waiting just a bit to long the only available place to get one installed today got booked up. Bummer. Looks like I'll be having to do it on the road, oh well.

Have the time for once so actually getting a bit done these last few days. Finished the wiring to inverter with the install of the breaker, switch and indicator light all the fancy crap that takes more time, finished drilling, painting and bolting up the gas can holder so that's on the tire swing gate now. When I lean to weld I'll just weld it up and take the bolts out. Mounted the arb air compressor and started making the harness for that as well. Need to make a new switch backplate for the compressor since the one I cut and grinded today came out a little wonky and I'm not happy with it. Oh yeah forgot, took the thermostat housing off to put some ATV on it just in case and ended up fighting a leak. 3 times tearing it apart, sanding and putting back together left me with a broken bolt in the housing and still a leak. Got the bolt out with an EZ out and ordered an actual gasket this time so just waiting for that to come in to put the radiator and fan clutch back in. At least this time the last bolt will be easier to get to without that crap in the way.

Finally some input on mpg after 3.0 came and other hp upgrades. At first I stuck with 3.3 cans because I wanted the more low end torque but lately I've been wanting to swap over the 3.0 cams that I kept and have been sitting in the garage. I'd like the truck to be a bit quicker for better drivability. 3.3 seap was nice to reduce shift, upgrading it would be even better

Lot of nothing done. Cut the leads from the switch to the terminals that the inverter will use and crimped the o rings on. Wanted to get them all crimped up in both sides but no time for myself. Did end up flushing out the radiator and cooling system with an agent for 3 hours and flushing it to clear. First time it hasn't been brown since I've owned the new engine. Put atv on the thermostat housing for peace of mind while I was at it so now I just need to fill it up and burp it after swapping out the old temperature sensor. My new tool should be in while I'm away at work this week so I'm pretty stoked on that and for it to make putting new crap in much easier.
