The weather turned so I put it back in place for now.

So I pulled the harness and the stereo itself out and there's couple of clusters but I can't quite tell what needs to be switched around.More than likely someone didn't hook up the memory wire of the stereo. Getting in there is easy enough, I'd give you instructions but you have a square dash truck so I'm not familiar. On the round dash trucks there are two screws going vertical below the vents/buttons, and from there you just gotta pull the trim piece out, only clips beyond those two screws. But like I said, your truck might be different. from there the stereo is just bolted to the truck with a bracket. take those out and the whole assembly comes out and you can inspect the wiring.

So I'm finally able to tear apart the stereo and find out what's going on back there.

Thank you! I'll dig in after work.^ That's where I'd start!
Getting to the radio itself isn't too hard. IIRC (been a while) you pull the ashtray out, remove a couple of screws from the center bezel, pull the bezel (helps to pull the shifter out of park), then the radio and its fasteners should be right in front of you. If it's aftermarket, and the fuses in the box check out, you may be right about the constant positive lead being disconnected. Hopefully the PO didn't leave you a suitcase connector fustercluck in there.

Yeah I replaced the fuses, didn't help lol.Have you checked both fuses? There should be one that has power all the time and one that has power when the key is on. It sounds like you're missing the one that is hot all the time. Is it the factory stereo?

Hey everybody, so I'm going to try and pull my stereo out to check and see if the wires are actually placed properly as it may be what's causing my stereo to reset each time I turn the car off. My question is, how tricky is it to remove the stereo here? I haven't done too much tinkering around with this vehicle yet. Thanks in advance!

Hey everybody! I have issues with the pathy not wanting to shift after an tranny rebuild. I took it back to the shop and after they checked the tranny (which is great) he noticed that one of the sensor connectors is wrong. He said most likely, the previous owner went to a junkyard and found a four wire connector, and adapted it to the three wire that the pathy uses. Does anyone have a picture of what the original connector looks like? I have pictures of what's going on with mine.

Here's the inside of the console. Are you talking about the holes in the bottom?

Hi everybody! Sorry for the multiple posts I just got my pathfinder back after a transmission rebuild. Finally able to start working on it now. It doesn't have too many problems it's more of a few quirks here and there. This one is the stereo resets on it when I turn the car off. I've checked the fuses but that didn't seem to do anything. I'm a newbie with vehicles although I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty I feel confident in doing minor repairs although bigger things I'll take to a shop.

Oh wow, I know this is an old thread but I could have thought you were talking about my new pathy!Another thing I forgot to mention, My wiper fluid sprayers wont shoot, when I engage the sprayer, the wipers move but no fluid gets sprayed out. Thoughts?
Sorry for being a newbie, Its the first real car I've ever taken seriously and am learning as I go and I've learned a lot so far and I'm in love with working on my own vehicle! *would really hate having to work on anyone else's though haha*

If you can provide a picture of what you have, I might be able to give you a bolt-on option.

Hello I'm trying to find a new center console for my 1991 Pathfinder. I heard the next model up is compatible but the ebrake may have to be shifted. Is it something that I would be able to do easily or should I take it to someone that is more mechanically inclined than myself? Also where would I find the center console to replace the current one? Thanks in advance!

Hello! I just have a quick question, are there rear set covers that work with the folding back seat? The back cushion lift up so the seat back folds flat and I don't know if they make covers that go over the cushions but let them still lift. Lord I hope that makes sense!

I couldn't add pictures to the first post.

Hello everyone, I joined about 1 to 2 weeks ago and I'm just now getting around to my first post. I have a 1991 pathy 4x4 that has a couple of transmission works with it among other things. It's running right now which is good since we just replaced the fuel pump that went out on Friday. That was fun... I'm looking forward to getting her ready to go off road. So hello from Marilyn and I!
