  1. And it had the brush guard I've been looking for years for...
  2. Alright! I was out of the country for a week so I haven't had a chance to take a look at the Pathy until today, and the mission was a success! Sure enough as you mentioned, Slartibartfast, the culprit was some twigs and a dried up leaf lodged inside the fan blade. I didn't even need to remove all 3 screws, just the front 2 so I could fit a small pair of needle-nose pliers inside to pull the debris out. After reassembling everything it's perfectly quiet again. Thanks again for the help guys, this forum is the best.
  3. Thanks for the info Slartibartfast! I'll tear back into my dash later today and give it a shot, time permitting. I'll definitely take the entire assembly out of my car before I disassemble it then, I just cleaned her yesterday lol. And yes, after driving her more last night I really wouldn't be surprised if it's just a leaf or twig, I'll make sure and post later on my findings!
  4. Hello everyone, haven't had to make a fresh thread in a while, the Pathy's been good to me lately!! Just yesterday I finally got my Pathfinder back from AAMCO transmissions with a fresh RE4R01A slapped in her, she's running great in that regard. What's not so great is the noise I've been hearing from the passenger side when I turn on my climate controls. It's sort of a rattling/kind of grinding noise that changes speed and pitch with the speed of the fan. When it's on setting 1 it's the most audible, with setting 2 being a little louder, and then setting 3 sounds like it's almost gone... but then again that could just be because of the overpowering noise of the fans! I remember driving her home from college last winter when my tranny failed, and just prior to that trip it started making the noise. I know that's not related in any way, I just know that it was something that happened when I was driving her, and not done by my mechanic over the past 3 months (yes they had my car for three months to put in a brand new tranny. long story). Also I should mention I just cleaned out my blower resistors today, there was a little bit of debris inside but upon vacuuming and reinstalling everything, no cigar. It sounded like the noise was almost coming from what I assume is the blower fan... I feel stupid now for not pulling out my phone and snapping a few photos of it. I'm just curious if anyone has had a similar issue to this or if anyone has removed/disassembled the blower fan. Thanks in advance!
  5. Finally got my Pathfinder back and she drives like a dream!! Can't wait to hit the trails within the coming weeks.

  6. Just recently figured out I got caught right in the middle of a scam at the mechanics, explains why my car has been taking 3 months to be returned. Spoke with the owners of the shop, got it figured out. Employee got fired and my car is finally getting serviced. AAMCO transmissions, avoid them at all costs.

I've only ever had one trans rebuilt by a shop, after nothing more than speaking with AAMCO, I went to a small local shop. Cost a little more, but I never regretted it!

Yep, I should've caught the red flag after the first 60 days, but let me tell you, this was one smooth talking employee. Claimed he had my transmission in my car and was just trying to fix "electrical issues" they created. He finally realized people were catching on to him and dipped from the shop around noon. There's now a warrant out for his arrest, and my car is finally almost done. Sucks for him, but he got what was coming to him.

      Bro..that majorly sucks.

  7. Mine did something relatively similar and the MAF was the problem. Hopefully the same is true for yours!
  8. Thanks for the info OH6, I'm gonna take a look at this within the next couple of weeks. Ever since last year when I took my Pathy in to have the alignment done, my mechanic (without asking) attempted to fix my ABS light which has been on for 10+ years now; he failed. In the process he managed to make my power locks quit unlocking. They still lock, but when you go to unlock the doors, there's an audible clicking from what I can only assume is some sort of relay under my driver side dash. This is why I try to work on my rig rather than take it to a mechanic!
  9. That's interesting regarding the recall on the VG30E's, I didn't know this event ever took place... guess that's why they call it the "silent" recall lol. As far as getting your engine serviced, I would say bring it in to an authorized Nissan dealership and explain everything to them and I'm assuming they will be compliant. My friend bought what I want to say was an '02 Grand Cherokee back in 2014 only to discover it had a pretty serious misfire. After looking into the issue further the dealer discovered it was the #3 fuel injector that had failed, and it was allowing dirt and all sorts of crud to accumulate around it. Upon bringing it into a Chrysler dealership he was told that the year of his Cherokee had a known issue with the design of the intake and exhaust manifolds, so they added some dinky cover on the manifold to "direct air better" or something like that to help prevent the buildup of debris and replaced the injector; they did it free of charge. I know it's a lot different than the issue you're having, but my past experiences with dealers and recalled components has been good so far. Let us know how it goes if you do take it in!
  10. Got word from the mechanic that my Pathy is coming home tomorrow. Looking forward to hitting the trails!

  11. I too have been on the lookout for any OEM brush guards for these style rigs, they're few and far between. From what I've read on here recently your best bet is definitely just calling around to local JY's, hopefully someone has one! I still have yet to find one for mine, the search continues...
  12. Mechanic got my brand new RE4R01A installed and programmed yesterday only to discover it has a leak. New Tranny has been ordered and should be here next Tuesday. My Pathy has now been gone for 6 weeks... at least he said he will give me a significant discount for how long it's taking! Lol

  13. If it's not too elaborate, care to share how you did it? I would love to do this to my own!
  14. Praying I get a call from my mechanics tomorrow. My Pathy's been gone over a month! Transmissions suck lol.

  15. Yup, those hose clamps are tiny little buggers. I dealt with the same issue for 2 years because it would only get bad/noticeable during the winter season.
  16. As someone who is still rocking the OEM shocks, I can confidently say that yes, sport mode was made with the intention of being able to corner better. Do they still work after 315K? Hell no lol. Got my eyes set on some Bilstiens that I may get for myself as a late Christmas present.
  17. It gets a lot of hate from some people, but personally I recommend plasti-dip. I had never plasti-dipped something before and when I did my wheels, it only took me around 3 hours to get a nice even coat on all 4. Not to mention if you don't like the look, just wait the 24 hours for it to cure and peel it off!
  18. Thanks for this post. As someone who is also 6'2, having some extra leg room is a necessity. I'll be giving this a shot next time I'm sleeping in the rig!
  19. Suspension lift, roof cargo rack? That's all I got haha. Include some pics though!!
  20. Lost my automatic transmission between Pullman and Yakima over the weekend on my way home. Going into the mechanics tomorrow morning. :(

      Ouch! That hurts the wallet.

  21. +1 on adding washers to the striker. I had the same problem this time last year, all it took was about 15-20 minutes of trial and error and it's never bothered me since! Rear hatch feels like it seats better in general too.
  22. Snow came early in Pullman, WA! Trying to get out later today to play in it in the Pathy.

  23. Came outside to my Pathy last Tuesday and tried to drive her to Walmart to buy more brake fluid for my leaky brake system, only to discover when I pushed my brake pedal to the floor I had no brake pressure. Upon further inspection, the drivers side of my frame was shiny, and after opening the hood I saw an empty master cylinder, and a massive leak coming down the front of my brake booster. Lol. One week later, a new aftermarket master cylinder, learning how to bench bleed a master cylinder without a vise - and a trip to Ace hardware to get two replacement nuts for securing the bracket and master cylinder to the brake booster (literally managed to lose both of them, they're either sitting somewhere on my frame or in our gravel parking lot lol), my rig now has brakes again. Just happy to not have to worry about leaking brake fluid anymore!
  24. +1 on this thread, I'm interested in doing the same thing too. How much body lift is considered acceptable for these rigs? I just don't want to see too much frame...
  25. After dealing with a misfire for about a month now, I finally figured out the #4 cylinder had the injector fail! 5 hours later and she's back on the road.
