  1. When I go out, its usually to the desert. Nothing real hard core, just rough "two track" roads. There are some pretty cool rock formations, lava tubes, and some craters to the north past the Civil Defense Caves. Head east from the Civil Defense Caves and you can end up at Sand Creek WMA and Island Park.

  2. South is pretty much all residential to Idaho Falls. To the West and North you have more desert, about a 20 mile by 70 mile strip from the Snake River on the south end, to Interstate 15 at the west. North you will be into the forest and Montana before you see much for civilization. Most of my off road adventures have been in the desert to the North.

  3. To the south and east there are forest service roads. Head up past the water tower out of Rexburg till you come to the T, Then take a left. Right at the next T and you will soon be in the Forest. This will put you between Kelly and Green Canyons. Mostly forest service roads up there. There is Websters Dam, if you can find it. Stay out of there when its wet. You wont be able to climb back out.

  4. There is Relay Ridge to the east. There is a forest service road up past Green Canyon Hot Springs that will take you to the high point. You can see from Idaho Falls to Driggs from up there. If you take the right roads you can get from Green Canyon to Kelly Canyon in a couple of hours. All forest service Roads. Pretty much no getting lost in this area. Sooner or later you will get to pavemment.

  5. Further north you will get into the mountains past Kilgore. Mostly forest service roads. East and north past Ashton there is sheep falls. You will get pretty close to Yellowstone in this area. Lots of rivers in this area and the scenery cant be beat. Check with the forest service for maps of the area. Take a right at the flashing light in Ashton, then follow the signs toward Cave Falls.

  6. That's a tough question. There are lots of places to go. To the north you have the St. Anthony Dunes. You have probably passed them on the way to the civil defense caves. Air down for the sand, maybe 12-15 PSI is plenty. If it is your first experience out there, make sure you have another vehicle or two with you for recovery or a ride home. There are also miles and miles of desert to ex...

  7. has not set their status

  8. I've got a Losi Lst XXL, and MegaBaja. Both 1/8 scale nitro. And a losi Micro Desert Truck. Need to get some pics.
  9. Did some price checking. Found 9' of 2.5" schedule 80 pvc for $26.50. .276" wall thickness. Should be pretty tough even after heating. Even if it gets damaged, it wouldnt be too expensive to replace. Just a little time to bend it to fit.
  10. I dont get all the fittings. Its just plastic, heat it up and bend it. You wouldnt get a tight 90, but it could be "swept" along the fender and up the a-pillar. Lots cleaner IMHO.
  11. Check partsamerica.com. You can order online with a discount and pickup at Advance Auto Parts, Checker Auto Parts, Schuck's Auto Supply or Kragen Auto Parts. Did a search for crank angle sensor this is what I got: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.as...Position+Sensor They are aparantly not in stock in my area. But they are half the price they are at Napa. The crank sensor is a bugger to get to. Its on the top of the trans on the drivers side at about the 11:00 position. A 10mm ratchet wrench is about the easiest way to get the one bolt out that holds it on. If its not damaged (bent like mine was) it should take about 30 minutes to change.
  12. '96 R50, purchased in 02 with 55k, now 189k on the clock. MT died at 179k due to bearing failure. $320 to rebuild. Resurfaced flywheel at failure. First clutch at 140k and it still had life left.
  13. With my ome springs I had to trim the inner fender well to keep from rubbing 31X10.5's. They only rub in reverse with the wheel turned.
  14. I've had mine for about 3 years and love em. It didnt give me much lift but the ride is great. With the factory springs I was bottoming on the bump stops quite often (they were shot). The ome's have held up to many miles of washboard gravel roads at probably what would be considered too fast by some (most) and have held up great. No more getting sideways in the wash boards. They have saggeed back to near factory height though.

    What Am I?

Thats a hobo. We just bought a new house two weeks ago and I have killed three all ready. Spider traps are on my shopping list.
  16. I dont know if they do this anymore, but it used to be that there was an (for lack of the correct term) antenna trim for am radio stations. You may be able to find the documentation for your stereo at panasonics website to tell you where it is and the proper procedure for tuning it in. On my old pioneer it was accessed through the hole where the cassettes went in. One would tune to a station in the 1200 range then rotate the potentiometer to improve the reception. If you cant find anything, post a model number and I'll see if I can dig up some info for ya.
  17. I work in Jackson Hole, so I get the view Tetons every morning on my way to work. They wont let me fish in the park because I prefer to use lures. I never could get the knack of casting a fly. Are there any special regs on rod and reel? I've been know to tie a fly and a clear bobber on my spinning gear. Never had much luck with flys though. I'm about a mile north of the Henrys Fork of the Snake River, and about 15 miles from a nice float down the Teton river. The Teton is my favorite, lots of trout in the 14"-16" range with the chance at some up to 25"-27". 20" fish are fairly common. The Henrys Fork is considered world class trout fishing with the possibility of catching up to a 30"er. Look for Browns, Rainbows, Cutthroat and Rainbow/Cutthroat hybrids in the Henrys Fork, mostly cuts and hybrids in the Teton. The Teton is pretty much General regs but the Henrys Fork has different regs for different parts of the river. The big fish are in Island Park below the dam, in single barbless, artificial flies and lures only/catch and release water. Sorry about the off topic run on, but someone said fishing. (was that me)
  18. I'm about 50 miles south of the west entrance to Yellowstone and about the same from the Tetons. 80 miles to Jackson hole, Wy (tourist trap). I didnt realize you were so close DJ, we should hook up and do some fishing.
  19. Hopefully I get the pathy back tomorrow (after 7 months with a broken tranny, mech has had it for four of the seven) then I'll be ready. Drop me a line and lets hook up.
  20. Where in Idaho? I am in the Idaho Falls area, about 80 miles south of Yellowstone National Park and 100 miles west of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
  21. I got a new FOB from a buddy. I had a little trouble getting it to accept the 6 in/outs of the keys. It took locking the doors first to get it to go. Then it went first time. Then to make both FOBs work I had to unlock, then lock the doors again to get it to accept the second FOB. In a nutshell: got in, shut all doors. locked doors with drivers door button. insert and remove key 6 times. blink blink. insert key turn to acc. push button on new fob. blink blink. unlock then lock doors with drivers door button. push button on old fob. blink blink. remove key. unlock doors. open drivers door. close drivers door. tested. both working. Hope this might help somebody else!
  22. Wow. Seems she meant to drive across the river ice and over the falls. http://www.localnews8.com/Global/story.asp...p;nav=menu554_2
  23. My R50 has an LSD. No help at all if you lift a tire. Useless in deep mud and soft sand. Helps in light mud and snow. Icy road conditions require caution as too much throttle pressure will cause the rear end to slip slip sideways. Depending on road conditions this can happen in any gear, at any prudent speed. IMHO the LSD is still better than an open differential for most people in their daily driving. Most wont encounter a sand dune or a mud bog on the way to the mall. However, they may find themselves in an unexpected snowstorm or muddy conditions due to some other act of nature and the extra traction provided by the LSD (and proper tires) may mean the difference between being stuck in adverse conditions or home with loved ones and a warm (cold) cup (can) of thier favorite (adult) beverage.
